I have two boards, but want to use the same users so they don't have to register twice. Some have said that this is impossible.
It can't be impossible to use users from one board on another. Look at photopost, they use users from a different board. This would be the same type of idea.
I have one idea: One the index.php of a vbulletin homepage there is the line..
require_once('./global.php');
require_once('./includes/functions_bigthree.php');
require_once('./includes/functions_forumlist.php');
Could I use the globals for a different board on part of the code (for the users), and the globals for above for the categories and forums etc. I have tride codes like:
chdir("../forum1/");
require("../forum1/global.php");
chdir("../forum2/");
But that gives me an error since I am calling globals twice. Any way to call two different global files or use parts of each global file in one forum?

It's not that simple.
You have two forums. Are both forums installed on their own database? If so, you'd have to make two connections for every page to link the databases together, and furthermore structurally redesign vBulletin to be compatible with this.
It's a load of work, and hardly worth it.
How about just have one forum, and combine both forums into it? Are subforums not enough?

You willl need a license for both forums, also it is possible, but not with out quite abit of work, it would be simpilest if both of your forums were stored in the same database.

I've been looking into this as well. It is apparent that problems like how and where post counts will take effect, permissions, etc. etc. But the basic premise is something that I'm sure a lot of people want. (And each board will of course have their own license).
Obvously it goes beyond a simple user authentication system. But the basic point is simply to let users from one board be able to use another board in one's network *without* having to re-register or log-in to the other board(s). If I had two or more boards for example, it would be nice to let users from my first board have the ability to use the other board without having to register or login all over again.

I agree. I wonder how hard it would be if it all was in the same database. Seems like it would not be too difficult when I think about it. They could share the user database and everything else could be different.
