How can I check which version is installed?

Ask your webhost if you don't know how to check your installed modules.

Do you have image verification enabled for new registers? Do you have thumbnails enabled for attachments? If you are unable to use the image verification registration system then you don't have GD2

All I have to say is .. wow. This hack has taken on a life of it's own, and I can only express how utterly impressed I am how the community has banded together to keep it alive.

Allow me to apologize for my lack of support (read: dissapearance) from the forums, but I've had a lot of personal things going on in my life, and unfortunately, they don't seem to be coming to a head anytime soon. In between marriage, a new house and a potential new job (read: relocation), I couldn't squeeze time to work on anything else if there were 25 hours in a day.

Integra99 had spoken to me not long ago asking to take over on the hack, and I had no problem with it. It seems Action-N have picked up the pace where we left off, and his actions are to be commended. Thanks, Action-N! I'd hate to have seen this hack die off, as it seems much of the community was begging for it at the time. As for the irony of it all, I had no idea this had gotten HOTM, hah! However, it's not really my work that did it -- as I took leave well before that award, it's the rest of you who kept going, kept providing support and fixes.

Action-N, I've sent you a PM. Hopefully it will be of use. To everyone else, keep up the good work! I'll hopefully be able to continue development of some of my other hacks once life calms down, as I really did enjoy it. Until then..

From what I've seen, it seems to work fine on v3.0.3. It would be rare for vBGarage to cease to function on future upgrades, as it's mostly it's own independant .php file. There would have to be semi-serious structure changes in vBulletin for that to happen.

I do, however, wish to touch on something I've noticed. While I'm flattered vBGarage has taken off as well as it has, please make note that the licensing is still in effect. By installing vBGarage, you are agreeing to leave the "Powered by" footer intact (unless previously agreed upon). Which, I've noticed, may sites are not (a simple Google search reveals dozens).

To joey an others, I build the uninstaller an installer for 3.2 an after I installed it fresh on my board I soon found that I still had a few bugs to work out. So I almost made it, b ut now I need to rethink how certain features are handled. Biggest one right now is when I combined the query for the images to show on the list to save a query for each user. Now if they have no image uploaded the script breaks. So I must decide if I should force users to include an image, establish a defualt avatar, or seperating the quieries. I'm putting alot of time into this script and I promise I will finish it.

Also I am building 3.2 on a 3.0.0 board.

I noticed you renamed your garage. Well that's all fine an dandy unless you donated to magnus an got permission to remove/edit the footer in needs to be kept intact. Alot of work went into building this script, so the least we can do is show a little credit. The next version will allow more than one entry per user so just hang tight. It'll will also have a more defined layout so users aren't all doing thier own thing.

Well you didn't have to read through the whole thread, just up two posts when I answered that question. Also on everypage now it show the hack info at the top of the thread. Reading the "future features" you will notice multi cars per user is listed there.

Your other question, it is possible but would require you to rename everything in the script to allow both.

You right that you can't post entire files but there is no reason to be rude to members simply seeking support. Everyone has a differnt skill level and some need alot of help installing hacks, while others find it to be a simple process.

I have one other question, in Vbgarage, a user just has one input box to list thier modifications.. how would i go about making multiple input boxes for the users to input information into.

IE:

Year: [INPUT BOX]
Make: [INPUT BOX]
Model: [INPUT BOX]

Engine: [INPUT BOX]
Exterior: [INPUT BOX]
Interior: [INPUT BOX]
Wheels/Suspension [INPUT BOX]
Audio/Electronics [INPUT BOX]

Etc. Etc.

That would be on the edit page. On the display page where users will look at other users garage's, they would see the catagorized inputs.

Its prob. a simple edit in the templates, but i want to make sure before i go and attempt it.

Also, how would i go about making a link on the main gallery for a user to go edit his/her own garage? Some users aren't going to be able to grasp the fact that they need to go into their UserCP to do it.

Umm... I'm betting this is because the installer created no canvbgarage table. I installed this on a 3.0.3 board a month or two ago for someone and that's what happened anyway (noted here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=541594#post541594) 09 Aug).

vBgarage does use the vboptions[bburl] in it's link, so what is yours bburl have in it? I'm going to assume it's just going to have "http://www.mnminimoto.com" in it. If that's the way you have to do your board you'll need to go through the vbgarage templates an delete the "vboptions[bburl]" code from in front of vbgarage.php, that should fix it..

I had never seen this hack before, but a mod jumped out at me as needing doing...

Set permisions by going to Usergroups/Usergroup Manager click go button next to registered users an scroll down to General Permissions. At the bottom of that table you should see "Can use vBGarage?". However you could have another problem specified earlier. Open up your Int.php file like in the install readme and post the last few fieds of the genericpermissions field. You don't want to see to numbers there the same.

If the installation gets interupted it wont finish, obviously, but when going back through it doesn't check itself for previous versions an does what you noticed breaks an doesn't finish. I made an uninstaller that you can use to uninstall the database files an truly start over without having already exsists errors. The link to the file is posted in the original post at the bottom.

My members are running into a issue. They can see the garage, but for some reason, they can not edit the fields in the usercp. it's not there. All the admins can thou. I go to the usergroup and set the permissions to use it but, it defaults to off. Is there a way I can make it permintaly enabled?

I just swapped caninvisible with it, since I don't allow anyone to be invisible. It's a bandaid fix. Is there a limitation to the array?

Ok this is strange...

I used the uninstaller and reinstalled. I used Silverstangs above posted [code] for init.php did everything as per instruction says and voila I got the the garage working. However, in the usergroup manager there is no option to enable "Can use vBGarage?" for any usergroups but yet they can all view it...?

So basically everything works except for that minor detail...

The second is with init.php. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is
but I have noticed that I can not use any number higher than 262144.
When I attempt to use the number 524288 it seems to have the option
Can use vBGarage? in the Usergroup Manager under

users except for the admins. I attempt to switch it on, with several different
computers, and it won't stick. I get the same results with the test machines.

Just thought I would show you guys what me and my other admin have done so far with this and let you know what we plan to do!

This is what we have up as of now:
- All image attachments are stored in the filesystem. Much less stress on the database.
- Thumbnail previews to the rleft on the list page
-Different layout for the garages
- Added total images that a person is using to list page
- Added column for the rating the user has for their garage (soon to be finished and available)
- All images have .jpg extension for better linking on other type of forums

What you cant see but we have still testing is:

- Search feature, search by username, car year, car color, transmission type, car model etc
- Sorting on the list page by Username, car, rating, and last activity.
- Rating system
- Better managed user comment area, pm is sent to garage owner with every new comment, the ability to report a comment to a admin, reply to a comment directly underneath the other user comment instead of creating a whole new line for theirs.
- Image upload amounts for the garage area will be set up by usergroups seperate from vbulletins attachment limits.
- We will be doing away with the current way that the images are shown within the garage. We will have three different categories set up in the area where the pictures currently shown. They will be set in a fieldset like vbulletin does and will include a category for images at the top, directly underneath that video clips, and undernath that audio clips, set up in each of their own fieldset. The images will show thumbnails in their fieldset and the audio and video links will show links as of now.
- User commenting on the images and video/audio files uploaded will be improved

Thats all that I can remember right now. A few cosmetic changes within the garages themselves and I think we can call it finished :)

Brent I checked yours out, it looks ok. Couple observations though..
You might want to increase the resolution on the thumbnails, as they look pretty grainy. You may also wish to create a "no picture uploaded" type image (perhaps a running horse logo or something) that displays when a member has not added a picture, as the listing you have looks kinda out of sync where there is no thumbnail in front of the users who have no pix.
You might also want to use conditional statements so you don't have to have "N/A" stats showing up where members have not provided things like 1/8 mile stats or RWHP. As for the video clips, etc, all that's easily doable via the hack that I wrote for the original version that is included in the instructions. On our version, we simply added a profile field for a remotely hosted picture (such as those in a member's photopost gallery) that automatically parses the image URL and places the picture in the user's garage. We have timeslip, dyno sheet, video, etc all part of it. What's nice is, if a member does not fill out a field such a RWHP, then nothing displays in the stats table, only the fields they choose to fill out return a line of text and info. We also integrated the garage profile fields into the "Edit Vehicle Profile" function of EvilLS1's timeslip database hack. It all fits togther very well and looks a little "cleaner" that what your example shows. We have integrated Photopost into our Garage hack and the result is pretty nice, or so I am told by the members.

It basically will be our own garage. I cant wait till its done and will talk to my other admin who wrote it if he cares if I share it with you guys.

I have made a modification to my VbGarage 1/4 Mile Stats Hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=506704&postcount=640) that will create a very cool effect for members who have a video clip of their best 1/4 mile pass. What this will do is embed a media player in their Vb Garage that is loaded and ready to play the video, right there in the member's Garage.

The statement is conditional, so the way it works is, if the member has not placed a URL to a video clip in the profile field that asks for it, then nothing will display in the stats hack.

The way I will present this is to edit the instructions for my 1/4 mile stats hack. You can feel free to change the place in your vbgarage_viewgarage template to place this wherever you wish to. Media files must be compatible with WMP.


ADD A CUSTOM BLOCK TO YOUR VB GARAGE TO DISPLAY MEMBER 1/4 MILE TIMES AND MEDIA PLAYER FOR BEST ET VIDEO.
MAY BE CUSTOMIZED ANY WAY YOU WISH TO USE IT.
This minor template modification to the VB GARAGE by MAGNUS will create a custom block in the text area of the member's
garage that displays 1/4 mile stats and RWHP if the member has filled in these custom fields. It also embeds a media player in the member's VB Garage that will play a video of the member's best 1/4 mile pass!
If the member has not filled them in, rather than display empty data the box displays an alternate message that you

The demo site is running a new, unrealesed version of this hack. I don't think their will be any future release with the multiple garage feature though, you may have to contact a good coder and have them develop something like the multiple car feature.

Hi all,

I've got a problem with the thumbnails not displaying. Now I've read through this thread and the problem is not the normal one. Simply put, it works with some jpegs and not others, but I cannot figure out why. It seems pictures downloaded from a digital camera and resized using various photo programs don't always allow the thumbnail to be created, yet if we open the same image in MS Paint and save it without making any changes, then upload the file again, it will display the thumbnail perfectly! :ermm:

Has anyone else experienced this problem? The fact some display proves the mechanisum is working, but why some fail is a mystery. We are using PHP 4.3.8, and the GD libraries are what comes in the tin with PHP/Apache 2.

I'd sure like to get one of these going on my site. Problem is, there are all kinds of forces pulling one way and another. PhotoPost, vbadvanced and I detect two or three different versions right here in this thread.

What ever I end up with, will need to have an independent database from vbulletin with the photos stored in files on the hard drive. Be template driven, with extremely few php mods if any and not screw up vbindex. Be customizable - I will want an engine garage, not a car garage. And, yes we all have more than one engine, sometimes 20 or more. Although independent in the database, it must look and feel just like another one of the forums in the forum list. It will need to have a branding free option, even at a price.

I don't know if there's anything new in that stack, but it is definitely a HOT subject.

How about putting your attachments in a seperate file.... that's what I did. Took my db file from 338mb to 46mb...

On your server, create a writeable directory.
In AdminCP, go to attachments
Change the storage type, choose Move Items from Database to File System
Use root directory for location of file folder.
Do the conversion
Your done.

but the VBGarage images stay in the database, i want them to be links in the database, and files ont he server.. so when someone uploades it uploads to the server, not the database, follow?

my vbimages table is 12.5 mb. i only have 9 cars in my garage.. thats huge, if the table was only storing thumbnails it wouldn't be over 5mb.

That's cos your users have uploaded huge images ( you can limit the max file size ).
Over time this bloats up the DB, i personally think this is more suitable storing images in a file system. I will work on it on my system and try to push out something on a generic level. No promises though.

however my forum had 3 theme, 1 default, 2 custom

i editing all the templates in default but however nav bar will be editied indivually.
what happen was, the default and last theme cannot load the vbgarage.php?do=list
only 2nd theme. tried check and eventually could not find anything wrong anywhere.
wonder if such a problem was reported and is there any fix?

vba Gallery will work if all you want to do is post a picture, but the garage lets you post about your car. Maybe if I every bought vbaGallery we could use it to handle the photos an vbGarage could just grab them. I am working on converting vbGarage to store images in folders instead of the database, but still trying to get images seperated by garage.

Yep, file storage system is a must, and I hope it will be in the next version as well. Multiple garages would only mean MORE images per user, MORE images in total, MORE space taken up in the db...you get what I am driving at.. :D

Usergroup only allow to post comments anot.
that is the YES/NO settings.

Yes it is by design.
The Can Use vbGarage option simply allows that particular usergroup to be able to add a car profile or edit it.

If you want to restrict the viewing of car profiles or the main list page, you will need to add an if condition to the vbgarage.php file in the do=list section.
Something like this:

Any idea why?

2 solution, 1 check templates on the defaults one u set on forum, u will notice that there are some file vbgarage_*****

but when u check the rest, there isnt.
Copy the exact template with the exact date and create new template on the rest of the style.

solution 2,
set default theme for all the forum once,
each time u set default to another theme, run the installer file of vbgarage
TK NOTE ONLY CLICK ONCE TO CREATE TEMPLATE
then close and repeat the steps until all the style carries the vbgarage_*** template.

I have red some of the uninstall posts regarding vBGarage and I don't understand most of it. I guess I'll go read again. Is there perhaps just some key thing to do rather then a full uninstall? Maybe there is just one file to replace?

the page is loaded: on the top u should see 2 option, edit and delete, click delete to totally remove the whole entry.

There is no delete in my options, I can only delete pictures when entering the Edit section.

I have uninstalled and re-installed vbgarage. It does work but if you had a car listed before I moved the server it won't let you add one now. It's like it thinks you have a car allready posted? For example, a guy who never posted a car before is able to create his own page but, I can not. I assume it's because I had one before and it still thinks I do?

So went back to the original file and tried to complete the install and try changing that last and when I got to the part

I think I found an error.. the only way I can get it to work is in the init.php I added a "," at the end of 262144.

Check to see if you had gd enabled and which GD version

Mine looks like in the attachment.

If yours is not enabled, you may have to contact your webhost.

ok i'm re-desinging my site, ever since i upgraded to VB3.0.3 (i suppose this is bad juju) i've been trying to get this to work again.

HOWEVER, when a regular usergroup id #2 tries to access this vbgarage, it says access denied, i tried setting the option to on or off, in the usergroup manager, however its always stuck on "yes"...

Yes it will, how the instructions should read is. At the end of that list add 'canvbgarage' => 262144 (or enter double previous number)

I should see if I can set it up with it's own permissions field so we don't have these problems come next release. Well to be honest yes it was, but like you I'm not about to search 98 pages looking for it so were even. There is a phrase for vbgarage in your phrases you can change, doing a search in phrases for "vbgarage" useing Phrase Variable Name Only will find it. But as some have found out that some vbgarage titles where hardcoded within the php file so you'll have to search through that an replace what you want.

To replace the name of the php file you are right in that you'll need to go through everything an change the name, but yes no reason why it can't be done. Just use an editor to find & replace. One that lets you match case values. Then don't forget to edit "define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'vbgarage');" to php files new name.

Fishtanks huh, well the only two variables that it recuires when making a garage is year and make. The rest it doesn't check for. If you don't need these I bet you can just change the text for these without changeing the variables. Your members won't know what you have the variables named as in the background. Goodluck an let us know how you make out, cuase I bet you're not the only one wanting to do this.

I wanted to let those following the thread know that I am making progress now with storeing files on the server. So far I have it making user folders, uploading multiple files at once into the folders an updating file counts stored in user table. I posted a picture of the front page, even thought you can see it live on my website. The three fields with pictures above them are for photos, sounds, and videos. Hopefully I've been through the hard part an the rest is smooth sailing.

First off, I love your hack! I look at this and I see gold for my own Design forum
but we are not car lovers by rights we design anything mechanical / structural
etc.

I would love to install your hack on my forum but modify it to fit our own system
instead of auto part descriptions I could put software, system and work process
involved in the making of the project.

The reason I ask instead of just doing it is because someone on our forums

Here is a screenshot of the file attachment page I just spent all day working on. See what you think of it so far. I had to seperate it from the main edit garage fields since images need a garage id not yet established when first making a garage. That is what kept me from releasing the latest version just for multiple garages. I'm moving right along with vbgarage now, but no idea yet on a date.

Jhonbee, you probably wont see him around for another few months. Before his last apperance here not to long ago I think he was awall for like a year. Now as far as modifying vbgarage for your needs thats fine, but with this releas I am building now is meant to be more universal. What I wanted to see done is users would setup a custom garage an offer conversion packages for others. They way I built it was all text fields and options are defualt text like text1, text2,option1,option2, etc... Once a garage is designed a user could download the custom text fields an any custom template designs, zip them up an upload the to the vbgarage post. This way if you or I wanted a garage for say custom built computers they could download an install the text an templates to setup vbgarage for computers. I probably sound confuseing, but hopefully you can get the general idea. This way we don't have more than one version of vbgarage floating around. Besides who would you expect to give support for your modified version? Holy cow, that's alot of writing I'm not going to proof read all that. :D

I don't know what else it could be besides that. I went to check your garage out, but couldn't find it on your site. Try doing a search for "vbgarage" in your phrases to see if they are at least there.

Well now I know, but I am not a hacker. So as a nonhacker I wouldn't know such things. Right now I am working on adding more features to this script and storing the images on the server in folders. I haven't even started to consider optimizeing the code or talking to other developers or reading the vb files on making this script secure. Now since it'll be saving images to folders I will have to be concerned about security. Also 3.11 was not mine it was all magnus an he won't come around to update the file. At least you didn't post them for everyone to see.

I have GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible) installed and working, but only Red Xs where an image is supposed to appear. If i click on the Red X, the correct image oopens ina new window.

I understand the need to make the next version as great as possible, but you have to draw the line somewhere and get the release out. Adding new features could go on forever, but if you could get a version out now everyone could contribute ideas on how to make the program better from first hand use rather than implementing something only to find out it could have been done differently or more efficiently if done another way. I don't mean to sound impatient, but I guess really I am just a bit impatient. :) I appreciate all of the work going into this but save some features for future versions.

BTW I plan on making a donation if Action-N sets one up to show my appreciation for all of the hard work that goes into this new version.

I've installed this hack and am pretty happy with it. Took me a while to get past the permission bug and get the templates copied to my different styles, but I enjoy the concept.

I'm wondering about other modifications... Is there a way for a user to have more than one car listed per account? Also, as I'll be renaming the categories to go with a computer theme, is there a way to increase the "year" dialogue from a 4-character maximum to something a little larger?
