Is it anyway to show all games that I had install on the board? Because It is only show 10 latest games. Right now, I have 18 games but it is only show on the index only 10 lastest games. Can go to next page to show more games that I had? What did I do wrong here?

Here's discgolf, has the negative score issue with golf games been resolved yet?

Edit: I'm gonna have to ask to have this converted if anyone can help. I've already created/edited all the other needed files and placed code into it but I always end up with a score of 0 still. The variable name for the score is _root.scorecard.totalscore

First off thanks for the excellent arcade hack - our users at ymrforums love it.

I think I may have found would could be a bug - I just added the trotter track game and edited the game description in admincp I added, "legal in NC!"
when relisting in admincp this caused a runtime error, upon debugging I apparantly had no variable set for "in" or "NC" was not found, so instead of adding to the desc, I suppose it got inserted into php code outside of the input field for the description and was trying to execute my description add on!

This could be a problem for someone potentially getting an admin to insert <script> functions or something more simple into the desc, (I'm unsure of whether vbulletin natively does input validation, but a malicious description change to drop all rows wouldn't be cool) I had to use myphpadmin to manually alter the description.

In most cases you put the .swf file in /forums/games/
the jpegs in /forums/images/arcade/
the fungame.game.php file in /forums/admincp/

then you run http://www.yoursite.com/forums/admincp/fungame.game.php
to install the game.
Delete the fungame.game.php file.

hmm regardless of the work you have done the hack still remains Johns interlectual property so i would say if you are going to charge for it then he has a right to licence it out to you as the original hack is free

You would have to re-order the service when you want to renew. The additional months are cheaper because you already have most of the games.

I am not selling the arcade. I am selling access to an ftp site that contains the product of alot of my time. That is all. How many people out there hunt down information and files on a particular subject (that they did not originate) and sell access to that information. There is nothing wrong with what I am doing. I even give 3 disclaimers on my site that says I have no affiliation with v3arcade or vbulletin at all. There is nothing illegal in what I am doing. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

No-one asked me for permission, so I doubt they ask the actual authors of the games.

While a lot of authors are happy for their games to be used free of charge, I doubt many of them will tolerate other people selling their titles.

This is no different than people selling themes and mods for the phpnuke site. They are not selling phpnuke itself so it is not an intellectual property issue.

If you want to talk intellectual property then talk about all the games that the hundreds of sites are running using the v3arcade addon. I am quite sure that nobody asked permission of the authors of the games to use them. Some of the games are used with permission but many are not. An example would be all the Yeti Sports games, the Sonic games, etc.

If you shutdown sites that provide the games, then you are shutting down the arcades that run them too.

Converting a game does not give you ownership of the game, it just makes you an accessory to stealing them (unless they happen to have gotten permission).

I think you shouldn't make money on someone else's work. If you decide to let customers pay for games, the gamedevelopers deserve more of a percentage then the one who sells them. The only "work" they have is searching for the games and bundling them into one package. The developers made those games, and I doubt it if the seller even has permission from the developers...

Anyway, I'm still wondering if someone has a fix for Yeti 7 ;).

As for the games, I know that 500 number Dream spoke of is probably accurate although I haven't sat down and counted all of them. Most reside on underground private sites of people who have converted them without permission from anyone. Don't bother doing a web search for them, they won't show up. Since I'm not a snitch, I won't be the one turning them in. Also because some have made it to my private arcade that I don't have connected to the web. This is to keep from getting sued over having them. I only play them for my own enjoyment.

V3Arcade is so limited on releases due to legalities, I rarely even go there anymore. I have contributed $$$ to John for the Arcade software out of respect for what he created. It just became too political for my taste with all the restrictions. Still, he is an awesome coder in my book and my negative views on the subject have nothing to do with him.

I could see it if you were paying the owner of the game a percent of your income for charging people for access to a game that the orginal author put out for FREE.

I know my webhost cost me about $7 a month and I have 800mb storage with a 40gb transfer a month. So if your gonna play like your charging people for accessing your server... Don't rip them off. Um, wrong on all counts. They are not charging for the files - I've not seen anywhere that I was not allowed to give away the zip files myself, even though I am not about to do that. It is for pure access to the download area and I can see the point of charging for it.

And, until you've been in business, please don't start hammering people for what they charge for something. It is what is known as supply & demand, capitalism, whatever. If enough people find it isn't worth the money, they won't patronize the site. It matters not if they pay $1 for something, then sell it for $50. You really don't want to know what your local retailer is making in profit. It costs less than $1 to make a case of Coca-Cola, yet you're probably paying (on average) 12-15 times that much.

It is people like you who find car dealerships a rip off for their 8-20% profit on the manufacturer's sticker of that new car, yet have happily spent thousands on your music CDs which cost about 40 cents to produce. Or you buy those $5 packs of smokes which cost RJR & Co. less than 30 cents. How about that beer? Did you know the cost of the can or bottle is more than the swill inside?

I believe everyone needs to chill out and get back to reality. If you don't want to add this hack, then don't add it. If you'd rather go out and search for the 500+ games available for this hack, then by all means, have at it.

These are all OPTIONS, folks - no one is twisting your arm to do any of it.

I was not hosting ANY ibproarcade zips. Every game on my list is made for v3arcade. Maybe you should do a bit of research before you spout your opinion.

Ibproarcade very clearly stated that if you host game files on your site you will be banned. You knew about it. You broke the rule. Now you pay. If I was hosting ibproarcade games on my site, I WOULD BE BANNED.

I've used both v3 and IBPROARCADE and I have to say I have returned to v3 because it uses the VB templates system and just runs nicer. IBPROARCADE may have more games and a (better) challenge and tournament system. But the challenge system on V3 arcade is pretty cool. Its the small things really but V3 arcade is probably better suited to VB the only negative thing is the game/(sharing) but there are some pretty cool people with free public ftps for the games at www.v3arcade.com

I mean, think about it. We had permission from Paul Neave for PacMan, but Paul didn't have permission from Namco. And, how well would an email reply hold up in court?

So... if i wanted to convert a game that I have so that the high score will work on v3arcade, am i right in guessing that I'll have to take the original swf file and decompile it to a fla file?

Once there, should I use Macromedia flash to mod the fla and then export it back into a swf? 'Cause I tried this and really made a mess of the game!

Most of the bandwidth used is in the game start which downloads the swf. If you want to keep it minimal, only use the smaller sized games.

Oh, well that's different. Offering them to download is a whole different story. Assume about a half gig for each person. That's why I'm only leaving it up for the people that want it until the end of March. The bandwidth is a killer.

It's pretty simple...

First, you take the main file and look for the bipolar tangent, it should be located in the 2nd frame next to the beginning of the output data mode (FLA).

If it isn't then create a block BEFORE THE VAR! Make sure it's an integer or a factoid!!

After the clip as complete (before the root) you will need to look for the minime. You will need some knowledge of Flash to do this. It's usually associated next to the "laser" output string.

Once this is done you will need to go through the history file and make note of all the statements recorded by the "boosh" protocols. The boosh statements change often but the rest of the program does not seems to understand this. Boosh also outputs various statements that don't make sense... so you will have to redefine them to meet your needs.

If that is not done the gameplay will always cause problems, and the correct score will not always be displayed. This will damage the integrity of every gameplayers data storage!

Lastly, remember to modify the "game_id" and check
if the score of the game is stored as "_root.score".

That post above makes about as much sense to me as the real hints. I'm in the same boat.... I have an swf decompiler (swf > fla) and flash mx '04, but I am a noob as well who needs a walkthrough... once I understand the basics I can run with it.

I went through Google's cached storage of the now deleted v3arcade forums and found the following random hints. I think that I may beginning to grasp it, but I'm missing the zipped files it talks about.

I'll post my full list of (real) bits of info below.... perhaps someone can put them in perspective for us. I don't know who the authors of these are, so I cannot give the credit to the gurus who originally posted this:

If the score is not being submitted, check the following:
the page will not be redirected if the score var is invalid

the score var must be:
- A Number
- Integer
- Stored as a: _root.score

Check if the score is stored in that var name,
if not, you can add a small line of code into the
mc_arcade movieclip to track our score:

Now, you need to let the game know when to finish the game and redirect the page. This is done by the setting of a new variable, "gameover". When _root.gameover==1, the game will end.
Find the FRAME of the "Game Over" page,
and add this actionscript to the frame:

Still Greek to me on a lot of it. As much as I would love to sit down with a $80 book on Flash and how to use it, I just do not have the time to do that right now. I wish I could contribute conversions myself, but until I buy and read a book or someone comes up with a true step-by-step, I am going to have to try to figure it out on my own.

Of course, it is ALWAYS advisable to obtain the original .fla file from the game's author than using a decompiler.. :)

It takes some getting used to. I can spend anywhere from 1-9 hours modding a game depending on the fla. Most of it is tweaking, but I'm nowhere as good at at as some. I bought my Flash MX 2004 off EBay for $32. Strong recommendation....if you mod flash files without permission, make sure they aren't on a public board. I have quite a few I did that I can never share because I might get sued. They are for my own personal use.

I edited the text int he AdminCP on a game called "Jump the Gorge" and it wouldn't let me access anything to do with the game and it stopped reporting a score....I had to delete it eventually...is there another option or is reinstalling it and hoping for the best my best bet?

Regarding Yeti 9:

When I converted this, I had the game looking to /games/yeti9_data. While that worked for me where my forum is defaulted as the root folder, it did not help if your site was www.xyz.com/forums (http://www.xyz.com/forums). In this case, the game was looking for www.xyz.com/games (http://www.xyz.com/games). I changed my test forums around to confirm this. Give it another try. All you need to do for this is re-upload yeti9.swf.

If you installed Yeti 9 prior to this post, download the attachment again and replace yeti9.swf and all should work.

This game has a problem starting at level 5. You will lose 2 catapult firing capabilities. After a couple more levels, you will lose all catapult capability and only have oil. After losing all catapult capabilities, the enemies will not come to the castle, but will still kill it. This will be looked into.Yes, my members complain about it, is it ever going to be fixed?

Ok, it seems that all is now fixed with King of the Hill. I played as far as I could and was able to control the castle turrets correctly and the enemies moved to the correct locations to kill the castle.

I have this EXACT problem...I noticed it last night when I was playing Paintball. I thought I made my permissions wrong...checked and checked the database, everthing seems to be set up properly, but not sure why i got a permission problem.

What really sucks is that i had the winning score and after i got the permission error page, i lost that score. I had to play it again and resubmit, that time it went through fine. However, I would like to get this resolved.

are you using table prefixes? cause if you are then its trying to update a table that doesn't exist when its using the 'user' table...

Thats the first thing that struck me when I looked at it, thats not to say it will fix it even if you aren't using them....if its only doing it with this one game, the other thing you can do is reinstall the game and see if that helps too.

Hey all, great hack, thanks to everyone for all of their hard work. I have one little problem which I think will be very easy to solve.

When I try to install games additional games like Pacman or Breakout and after uploading all the requisite files into the approrpriate directories, I then try to execute the php script that comes with the file after placing it in my admincp folder. When I do this, I recieve a blank page with the bar at the top saying v3 Arcade - Pacman. I have the same problem with other php scripts that I upload to my admincp folder and attempt to execute.

My admin and moderator folders are apanel and mpanel, respectively. Also, I run my entire vbulletin on SSL. Could either of these two factors be causing this problem, or is it something else?

If someone could please help me or point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

What if someone built an Arcade with no games? Well, you're seeing the price of pre-emptively trying to obey some nebulous copyright laws.

There are 9,400 registered members at v3arcade.com with their thumb placed in a dark place with no games because of the copyright nazis. Let the game developers ask to have games removed, instead of delete all, ask questions later.

than log in your admin control panel

go to the v3arcade tab >> game tools >> v3 Arcade - Mass Game Import - click start and it should install it
