Zend Studio. There's a free personal edition with no excuse on not using it unless you have a really old computer.

I love Dreamweaver MX and soon to get MX 2004. It is a costly peice of software but it is worth it.

I have to agree with filburt. Ever since PHPEd was bought I went to Zend Studio and haven't complained since. It's easy with syntax highlighting and the trust of being built by the makers of PHP.

Only problem I have seen with Zend studio is when I switched I was used to the variables being bold and black but in Zend you can make anything bold so its kind of hard to get used to but you don't look like someone that has gotten used to anything so I would say Zend or Homesite from Macromedia.

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX is nice IMO

EditPlus 2 beats them all hands down. With it's FTP being built in, I edit files right from the server. ;)

Have you used Zend Studio? For that matter, have you used any IDE written in the last five years with now-common expectations such as IntelliJ IDEA (best Java IDE ever!), JBuilder, etc.? For the love of God, 90% of these PHP "IDEs" don't even include function popups.

EditPlus 2 does everything I need to do without any problems. I tried Zend Studio a while back and didn't like it. I use EditPlus 2 for all of my ASCII file editing, For the love of God, not just PHP. ;)

I'm using a beta of the latest ZS right now. Not sure if it expires like the personal edition or not but you should download it right now.

I used Zend Studio before and installed on this computer.. but still, I prefer Ultraedit over any editors.

Funny thing because other magazine stated that Ultraedit are one of the best editors.
shrugs, it is largely depend on individual's preference.

I find that TextPad is better then UltraEdit or EditPlus...

This thread hasn't been commented on in a while so I pose the question, has anyone used phpED to develop vb addons and applications?
