I think he is talking about how the code boxes are stretching the layout of the thread beyond the browser's limits (causing the horizontal scrollbar on the bottom).

that is the normal behaviour of vB, and it's needed, because linebreaks in code's can cause errors...

A long time ago I extended the code on one of my vB sites to use an IFRAME for a code box, so that the scrollbar would appear within the post rather than stretching the entire page.
I wonder where that code went. It was pretty easy to do, though.
Still, there's really no good solution.

Just so happens I'm working on a way to fix that problem with [code] and [php] tags. Unfortunately it's involving that I rewrite all of the insanely horrible bbcodeparse2() :D

futureal: hmm AFAIK iframe makes problems within some browsers right?
so that wouldn't be the perfect solution, but i already thought about that..

Check out http://www.php.net/wordwrap . Of course it isn't that simple but that's the core of it.

I haven't had roblems with IFRAME with any modern browsers (IE 4+ or NN/Mozilla 6+). Anything older than that isn't worth supporting, IMO. I occasionally get people in my web logs still using NN 4.x or IE 3.x, but they are so seldom that I don't worry about it that much. I would rather make it easier on myself and appeal to 98% of the people out there...

Turns out the PHP highligher is so horribly terribly worthlessly written that I won't get it working for php tags...I got it working for code though but that's not enough IMO.

Can you release the one for the code tags?

I have an idea for the [php] tag so I'm going to try that first.
