smiliebox in showthread_replybox

I installed FireFly's Quick Reply and I'm wanting to put the smilie box next to the quick reply box. I thought that all you needed to do was put the code $vbcode_smilies in showthread_replybox but that didn't seem to work. Anyone know how to do this?
