You know, things like PHPNuke and others. What are some good customizeable things like that that? I plan to redo my website in PHP so I am open to any suggestions. Right now all I have is ssi includes... and ARGHH, those just don't do the trick anymore. Plus I want something that I can fully integrate (look-wise) with my VB. I know I saw some phpnuke user integrations here, but what others are good? Any suggestions?

(Also mods, if this is in the wrong forums sorry, I wasn't sure where this would go).

<a href="http://phpportals.com" target="_blank">http://phpportals.com</a> is one I use..

I refuse to use vbhome.

vbindex3 seems ok but i did not get far enough into it.

How much does that cost? Or is it free? I couldn't find a price anywhere.

Another thing is, my layout has a lot of graphical navigational items, like flash rollovers and background images in tables. Is it easy to make this a tabled page with fixed dimensions?

I'd recommend vBindex 2.1 by NTLDR because it's pretty simple and straightforward. The default templates kind of suck, but a little work goes a long ways.

The problem with vBPortal is that it is based on Nuke and server intensive. I would recommend vBHome or vBIndex which does a similar job, but much more optimized in terms of db load.

Well what are the differences between home and index? The main thing I want to do it just make my main site in php. It would be nice if it could look similar to my board, but I don't think I will need a login function on the main site. Does anyone here use home or index? Those look similar so it's hard to tell what will be better for what I need it for.

I know that vBHome Lite has it's own support site at www.teckwizards.com :) TECK (Floren) the creator is a very good hacker.

I like vbportal.

The new one is very easy to work with. Alot of options and support.

Sure they charge 20 a year for member ship. But when you think about all the money you have tied up into vb as it is 20 is not much.

vBHome is far more better than vbPortal and it looks better too.
I you are ready to pay money, I cand tell you where are good CMS (Content Managment Systems - good for dynamic sites). I use one myself, it is worth every penny!

Hmm, I may be interested in that. I really don't even need my vB and my site intergrated in the sense that these things do here. I just need something to make it easier to work with and keep everything looking the same. How much $$ are we talking here?

I'm just looking for maybe something such as this (http://www.planethalflife.com/) type of look. Now obviously it's not gonna be free, but I am willing to pay.

I have seen people talk about prices between 180 and 260 to do someones page. With a style and all that.

Hmmm, those seem really "templated." I will probably be willing to considder a relatively high price for something like this, so if anyone knows of any pro stuff let me know. I don't really want the copyright text at the bottom, so obviously it's not gonna be something I find for free or even very cheap, but I'd be willing to look into my options. Any more ideas anyone?

I just stumbled on this while searching the net..

http://www.codecharge.com

Has anyone heard any good or bad things about this?

Edit: Well I downloaded it (http://www.codecharge.com/download/). 20 day trial. I guess I'll check it out :)

Has anyone here used this? It's like $300 bucks...

vBhome seems great, I just looked at it, great script, and in the thread it links to TeckWizards.com, my friend mods there, head over there it seems there are some great addons and stuff for it to. I installed it within few minutes, and it has a very low query low than other products I have used, especially since I do not have all the resources in the world to waste.

Try it ;) Run it on localhost to test, if it is not what you are looking for no need to keep:) It is free and it seems like an amazing script for being free.

Hmmm, I just looked at HiveMail. That's interesting. I might have to get that too... Anyway, yeah I really liked vb home too, but it'd not what I am looking for. I need something that can have a database of files to download, and upload. It's for an online gaming site, so if anyone here goes to those you know the general look and feel. That's the idea I am going for.
