Hi,

I have a problem with my forum, the problem is that every time i type http://localhost/vb the database error shows up with this file error:

C:\apache\htdocs\vb\admin\db_mysql.php on line 40

I'm using PHPtraid to test my forum on my computer, and what i did before this error occured is that I made my forum work but then I delete it. After that I emtied all the data in mySql and then I put the Vb folder in the htdocs file again. But this time I'm recieving this error and i couldn't find a solution for it, I will be very thankful if someone can help me!!

Thanks in advance...

iiXeNoN, to download hacks and get support you will need to go to this (http://www.vbulletin.com/members/forums.php) page and enter your email address, to show you are licensed. (you will need to use your customer number and password to access that page)
Thank you.

Thanks for the reply Xenon, but I downloaded the forum from some site and I'm only using it for learning purposes, I will never install the forum on any site....it's just I want to learn how a forum works and how an admin can control the forum, and also how to add some codes that would improve any forum!! It's just that I can have some experience in using a Vb, and also to help others if they need help....and if the forum that I have is illegal to use for learning I can throw it away...honestly I will.....but I just thought it's ok if I or anyone else can use it for learning purposes.....

Thanks...

Sorry, but then you are using vb illegal and should delete it immediately!

Also you should report the site where you downloaded vb to piracy@vbulletin.com

i'd say you should download phpbb2 it's a free bulletin board, where you can also learn alot how bulletin boards work, but it's legal then :)

:)
thanks for understanding and following my advises :)

http://www.phpbb.com/
There you can find the official phpbb community where you can also download phpbb2 for free.
phpbb is a free bb software with many functions which are also in VB. the difference is, that the code isn't that optimized as vb is and there is no real official support, because of the open source project aso.
but it's perfect to learn the work on a bb :)

Thanks a lot Xenon for the info. However, I'm still having a similar problem with mysql. When i run Apache server on my computer and then go to phpmyadmin i get this error:

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server in C:\apache\htdocs\phpmyadmin\lib.inc.php on line 255

and this is the first time i get this error, and also when i downloaded phpbb2 and tried to install it on my computer i get this error message too:

phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database

I would really appreciate if you can help me resolve these problems, and also one question, how can I delete all my database, because as I said before I installed vbulletin and it worked, but later i delete it and the database is still available....so is there a way to reset or delete the database?!

ThanksÂ…

We only support licensed vB owners here. Try the phpBB support forums. :)
