I hear that vB version 3 will feature a threaded post format. Is this correct?

Yes. Your users will be able to chose to view the posts in either the flat format of this version or a threaded format.

You mean the administrator doesn't choose? I thought that in order for a threaded option to be available, a 'reply to thread' option could not exist, but instead have 'reply to post' options (like as in UBB.threads).

I'm pretty sure there is an option for the administrator to disable threaded views altogether, but the idea, as it has been presented to me, is that the users can switch the format in which they view the thread as they please (probably by providing a link on the thread page).

As to your question I don't have an official answer. Personally I see two ways of handling the problem: One, that any answer that isn't specifically an answer to other posts in the thread is regarded as an answer to the first post in that particular thread, OR (two), that any answer that isn't specifically is an answer to other posts in the thread is regarded as an answer to the last post in the thread.

The Admin will choose the default view for the board (linear or threaded.) The users will then be able to choose their default view. They will also be able to easily switch back and forth between views by clicking on the appropriate button.

That's how it will work, there will no longer be a big reply button, but instead reply buttons for each post.

When vB 3 is released, will vB 2 still be available?

My members will be very confused by this "feature". It would be much better, if the admin could turn off this feature for all.

Yes. Even if it's not in the vb members area then you can email john@vbulletin.com with your customer id and password to get it.

WOW...that would be really confusing, please tell me if the structure of the threaded thing will look like this

>I am new
>Hey Welcome
>I am new 2
>Me too, but welcome
>Hey I am new too, well welcome
>Hey guys welcome to the board
>Thank you

Bah, if thats what it is, that will be confusing...

Then you'll just have to live in the dark about what is happening with vB3 and the rest of the vB world then!
