Again, I'm posting this for a friend. He is the original itemshop creator. (see this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35156)):

Let's start with the beginning. You may wonder why this thread has the word original in its name. Well, there are too many itemshops out there. So here's a short version of the itemshop history:

First of all, afterlab had the idea of an itemshop, which he also did, but it was pure text. People would have to talk to him to buy items, and he would have to manually substract the points.
Then, as a member of ffr, i started talking about how easy and convenient it would be to have an automated itemshop. People just click on the link, and the item is added, points substracted. Later that day, i did the very first version of the itemshop. Nothing big, just a buy function. The items were stored in an array.
I had released my itemshop on vb.org and afterlab was pretty unsatisfied that i hadn't given him any credit for the original idea. Actually i didn't even consider the itemshop a hack, it was more of a joke, something i had made for fun. I had no idea it would become so popular.
2 days later, version 4: This one had error pages, improved buy and sell function. I was planning a database powered itemshop, with admin cp interface.
afterlab then pretty much copied my code 3 times, and released his first version "with item categories". It felt pretty unfair, while i was struggling to do something way more advanced, he was getting all the credit for something that was still 85% mine.
then my computer broke, just as I was working on the admin cp of my database version. I was also planning to do the battle system hack.
in the meantime, about one week later, afterlab released his itemshop 3 i think, database powered.
couple of weeks later afterlab started all the battle system stuff.
about 2 months after my computer crashed, it got finally fixed, and i began to work to complete my own itemshop.
So well, here it is.

nice story, isn't it? ;)

here's a quick list of features:

Database driven
Full Template Set (everything that is outputted is generted through templates)
Infinite items categories and items
Items and category descriptions
Stock (idea by Crono)
Detailed items/categories/shops stats (number of sold items, profit)
All the item and category adding/editing/deleting and option editing is done through the cp.
Special icon column for different item display possibilities
!!!! Personal Shops !!! (members can create their own shops and sell items. You can specify how much it costs through the cp. while each category has it's own slot, all the personal shops work under one slot. That means, you can only have one item from all the personal shops)
An own donation system included

The itemshop adds 4 tables to the vbulletin database:

[items] - This is where all the items are stored
[items_cats] - This is where all the categories are stored
[items_options] - This is where the configuration data is stored
[items_user] - This is where all the user stuff and items he bought, are stored

Like i said, anything there is to edit can be edited through templates

File and Template Modifications:
there are 4 file modifications, but only one of them is neccessary.
and one template modification: postbit, wherever you want the donation link to be.
important!!!!: remember to change your points field and remove any old itemshop templates!!!

Installation method
First of all, be sure to back up your database!! This is a fairly large hack. Adds a lot of stuff to the database.

the installation is done through the install script install_itemshop.php. It will guide you through 5 easy steps.
the only manual edits you'll have to do are the ones above, file and template edits.

admin/install_itemshop.php - itemshop installation file
images/itemshop - itemshop image file. This is where you will have to upload all coresponding graphics.

This hack can easily be used not only for rpg boards.. As an example: you add computer categories: cpu, hdd, monitor etc, replace points with $ and let people on your forum build themselves a computer!

The shop is 100% functional, but i want to improve stuff, make it more efficient.

postbit edit: well, for the postbit, i couldn't just put the imgs, cause all the items of the same type have the same image. so i put the image and a link to a separate item info page.
1 new template required for the item info page.
added remove feature in installation script. ( note: it will simply drop the tables and remove the templates).

well, the items are displayed in the postbit template (which i forgot to do, btw. i'll have it done tomorrow. it's too late now). You make money by posting. The amount of money that is added is also specified in the cp.
It's pretty fun. All the rpg boads want thiskind of stuff.
And not only rpg boards. take my example above. make a couple of categories > computer components. then change the points to dolars. member will be able to buy their own computer, piece by piece.

well, the installer adds the tables and templates. but you have to do the file edits.

the looks haven't changed very much, just the script itself.
it has been tested on 3 boards, and it should work on all vb versions.

I just installed apache, mysql, php on my localhost, and then installed vbulletin 2.2.5 clean from the .zip file, then i run your installation script and did the manual file changes.
I couldn't do the template changes,
because all the templates were removed and I had MANY [change original] links, with empty content, and not title in front of it.
The site doesn't work anymore now.

hmmm..... i just tried a clean 225 install and it worked fine.
I got the template installation function from bane's installer. so if vbstats and any other similar hack works, so should this.
i have tested it over and over and install script worked fine for me.

Very nice hack, Vivi. I set up a private test forum - a fresh, clean install of 2.2.5, and mostly everything looks like it is functioning properly on the admin backend. I run into the first error at the "Donate" function. It looks like your hack doesn't escape apostrophe's appropriately. There are also some other bugs that I have itemized below for your reference.

1. No Apostrophe Escape


Database error in vBulletin 2.2.5:

Invalid SQL: UPDATE items SET stock='5' WHERE name='Cat's Claws'
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 's Claws'' at line 1

mysql error number: 1064

I fixed the above problem by simply removing any problem items that used apostrophes ('). We also get the same errors when you try to add any Item whose name OR description have either an apostrophe or a quote (").

2. Donate Error

Your donate URL, as you specified it in postbits, is incorrect. The correct URL, whether or not you use JavaScript, should be as follows:

Previously, you didn't have the $post[userid] variable, and instead just referenced [userid]. Changing this fixed it for me.

3. Sold Item Graphic Remains

When you sell an item, the graphic for the previous (sold) item remains even though you have no item listed in the appropriate slot. When you purchase a new item, fortunately, the new item graphic icon replaces the old item graphic. This can be fixed if you clear out the value for your categorical icon in use.

I'll continue testing and let you know if I run into anything else.

Basically, aside from that above, this hack is working very nicely. I must hand it to you, Vivi - a job very well done. I think I can figure out the postbit code to show items purchased by the player by simply looking at the other templates, but I look forward to seeing how you do it.

I'll also do the postbit today.

I'm sorry for not making it clear, but the shinra points hack is required. After installing the shop, you need to go to your admin cp, and under the itemshop section, Edit options. Make sure the correct point field is specified there. That's where you control stock: minimum stock, maximum stock and stock reset time.

itemshop are identified by the userid of their owner, so having multiple personal shops is impossible.

Your previous itemshop was quite simple and functional - I'm going to stick with it. :) Good job on this one, but I like the fact that I can use the stock custom userfields with the previous version - easy for me to build other hacks upon it. Keep up with the great hacks!

I have problem here......

When I follow the instruction in editing both newreply.php and newthread.php.....the result is not really good.

Instead of what I have set (2 Points Per Reply and 5 points per new thread) it turns out to be 7 points per reply and 10 points per new thread.....I never modify anything....the itemshop script did it by itself? 0_o

And it also...stop the post counts from working.....for me at least...what should I do now?

And oh, I have the points hack, points addon, donate points and star hacks installed btw....so plz help me out...I am confused now ;) thx in advance :)

the itemshop basically works without the shinra points system.
It only needs a custom user field for the points.

stock is controllable through the admin cp.

in the personal shops, people create their own items. they can't resell items. and right now, it's impossible to buy more items in one category

Also, in functions.php you use $bbuserinfo[userid], that will only check the user browsing the forum and consequently it will display all he owns on every post no matter what the user.

The correct function would be: $post[userid]

You just need to upload the new files.

If you buy a personal shop, then delete that shop, then buy a personal shop again it will not work because the ids are auto_incremented. I'm not good at coding so it's a little hard for me to understand the layout of the system but my guess would be that the display mechanism is working on an increment method as well and when it sees: 1,2,3,5 it will only display 1,2,3 because it missed 4 and stopped prematurely.

My guess would be that if one person deletes their shop after a few people make stead it will stop displaying everyone.

I'm not good at coding so it's a little hard for me to understand the layout of the system but my guess would be that the display mechanism is working on an increment method as well and when it sees: 1,2,3,5 it will only display 1,2,3 because it missed 4 and stopped prematurely.

Don't use the points hack??? How do you expect to buy items, remember it does not work with Lesanes integrated pointsystem and itemshop. You probably would have to modify some code to get it to work without points..but I can't imagine how you would buy items then..

FYI, I integrated this hack to work with the Store Hack by Lesane by finding all instances of userfield in itemshop.php and replacing it with user. Then in the admin panel change the field name to storep.

To anser previous questions: THE PERSONAL SHOPS DO WORK. the category id is auto_increment, the ownerid isn't.

you can run it without the points installed, it just needs a custom user field.

Velocd: No, it is not possible to keep the earlier items.

BTW, the new script has a few bugs, but i'm leaving today, i'll be back on tuesday! Until then i'll remove the attachement in the first post.

Yes, the personal shops will still work but if you delete and recreate it won't display. However, you can, of course, direct link, but that defeats the purpose.

Yes, and it still has an error. I've tried re-installing itemshop.php, and I've reinstalled all the tables. I haven't touched the templates or anything either.

Here are some very good REQUESTS TO VIVI for the fixed-itemshop he plans to release on Tuesday:

Important:
1. Pleeeaaasssseee make it so itemshops are in their own page, like you had in the first itemshop. I was disappointed to see all the items on one long page, its not as appealing that way. Also when they do "loop" on the itemshop page, it also shows the header buttons over again.

2. User can choose an icon for their custom item in their personal item shop. Maybe a drop down list beside the item description field where they could select an icon.

3. Category specific personal-items, for example, if the default itemshop has 3 types of items (helmet, weapon, shield), then when a user creates their own shop the only items they can make are either helmets, weapons, shields. This way when someone buys an item from a personal shop, it won't create another field for the new item, it will simply place it in the original spot under that type.

4. How do you display items in the postbit? Like the previous itemshop, are they still located in a profile field? Because displaying the item in the postbit is muy importante.

Would be nice:
1. User can select a URL image for their personal item shop, that could be displayed on their itemshop page. (centered at top).

The ones under important I think are crucial to have, as it gives it a wayyy more appealing style. Some of these you may have already decided to do or fix (if its a bug). I just hope you can integrate some of these in your upcoming version. :D

I like his first suggestion, and the one about making users have to pick items in the same category. However, I think that users should only be able to resell items they have bought, because if users just get to make up items, that would kinda suck in my opinion.

I'd try and help you, but I can't even use my itemshop. I'd look for the code that lists them items on the itemshop screen, I don't know much about this sort of thing, so I have no idea.

I think that would be an excellent idea also, because if the stock goes down in the regular itemshop of a certain item, you can sell that item (if you have it) for higher in your itemshop to make profit off of it. I was confused at the making of items when I first saw it, but maybe if it were possible to pay a high price, you could make your own item.

Uninstall the whole thing, and try again but more carefully. Thats the only advice I have for you, because I'm not too sure where the problem might be residing. Uninstall the tables and templates from phpmyadmin, then revert php file changes. Though I recommend you just wait till Vivi releases the updated version, since it may very well fix your problem. And if this next version requires a fresh installation, you will have to remove it anyway.

Since Vivi made it to where the templates are made as original, how do you delete them?

Go into phpmyadmin, and you will have to delete them manually from there. (goto table: template, then click on browse, and then manually delete all templates with prefix itemshop.) I'm not very good with queries yet, but I'm sure somebody could make you one that removes all the templates with one swift step. :D

well, you can change the way items are displayed in the postbit in the functions.php part. you can use $catstuff[name] to display the name.

as for the points field.... $post[fieldx] i think, where x is the number of your field.

Who said it was a step towards the battle system? Well actually, I guess you could say it being silly to have an itemshop without a battlesystem, but I'm not sure anyone but Afterlab is developing a battlesystem (ofcourse I *probably* am wrong). Giving item attributes is possible, but depends on the level of experience by the coder. An experienced coder with good knowledge of MySQL/PHP could probably do it, and I'm sure if he had time, Vivi could do it.

now wherever u want it to display the users items do this

If Category One Is Weapons.. then u'd type:
Users Weapon
$items[item1]
In A Template whereeverr u want it to display

If u want it to display the item from category 2... u use item2 instead of item1

As for suggestions, I still have 2 that I would literally DIE for to see on this itemshop, mostly to deal with the personal itemshop really.

#1. PLEASE make it so users cannot create their own items, but can only sell the items they currently have. There is nothing from stopping a user creating total spammish items with profanity names, etc. It just isn't that great of an idea for users to create their own and sell them, but maybe though for a certain price a user could create his own item.

#2. (this is ignoring #1) How about letting the user choose an icon for their custom item?? This would be very cool, and really is needed ^_^ Maybe a dropdown list with a list of the icon names, and a picture to the side.

BUG: I've noticed with the whole looping thing in the itemshop, that on some pages like the personal item shop pages it will loop everything over again, like there will be two image logo's, two header button bars, 2 footers, etc.

Anyway, those suggestions I made above would be awesome to have, and I even tried to code them myself but it's much more difficult for me trying to disect your code them if I were to build it myself from scratch.

I get the same problem :S

Go into your MySQL Database and select the "items_options" table... check on the field "pointfield" and click on the change button... then it should take you to another page where you can change the length of the variable, it's set to 6 for me, change it to 7 ;)

last I checked this Itemshop uses the Shinra Online Point System, which is the only one really out there. So I think you're either alittle unclear or too vague

I found this hack exellent in my last forums. and will be installing it in my new trek rp forums. I think its a great peice of work and sorry to say lesanne, but i do prefer this to lesannes hack. Purely the fact that you can customise items and shop them in the postibt puts this hack ahead of the rest. Im anticpating V6 for Vb3

Well...

Have you made the user profile field?

If so, have you changed the option in the itemshop options, where it says field5?

If the field id isnt 5, it wont work until you change it to fieldx, where x is the id of the field for the points/credits/money...

i created a user feild called points and then i changed the options to points and then i also changed the postbit to points. But nothing. i still get these weird and annoying messages

you have to make sure that the userfield is correct... go to modify profilefields and left click the edit button of the points and paste it in the browser... whatever the field# is in the browser has to be the one for the points hope that helps :)

What frustrates me is when people make hacks, dont think em through properly and just release him, and obviously the Itemshop 5 has been a problematic release. At first it seemed like a miracle, but heres what i done step by step to get the images to show.

Step 1:
Start up the install script again and first REMOVE the templates and tables using the script.

Step 2:
Go through the script again and let it set up the tables etc

Step 3:
Skip the file alterations

Step 4:
Go to your itemshop and direct it to the proper user field
(I installed the SHinra Hack because it provides better moderation functions. But even if youve got this installed you must do the same)
[To find out what field is what simply go to the Modify area of the user profile fields and then hover your mouse over edit. The last number of the line is the field number.]

Step 5:
Simply go into your item shop and then buy some stuff, and watch it appear in the post bit.
[Note, Custom items should appear too!]

Custom Items Bug
The above by myself shows how to do it. However, ive found if you delete ANY of the categories then create a new one in place of em, the items DO NOT show up. So what to do is simply delete all the items in each category, and then replace them with your own custom items. Then if you require any more categories you can add em on, but you cannot delete any of the orginial four, it mucks it up.

heh, my problem kicked my admin cp's arse x_X

when i go to edit templates, any template that has not been modified from it's original it just says "[Change Original]" and no titles for any of them... when I click on that for any line, it opens up a blank template... I am screwed. Not too mention interest on the bank does not work at all.

VERY nice looking hack, but it's not worth it cos uninstalling is gonna be ten times worse than installation was...

I don't damn care if you like my hack or don't. Wanna know why i stopped giving support for this? Cause you people are VERY ANNOYING! Yes, you can't read 3 lines of instructions, then run ahead and complain that the hack sucks. Most errors you report are caused by incorrect installation and/or other hacks. I have tested it, and it works perfectly for me. YOU PEOPLE ARE LAZY. I don't expect you to read all the posts in this thread (which could actually solve your problem), but AT LEAST have the decency of properly reading the installation instructions.

What version was this that you tested it on? I have version 2.2.5 and it works fine, other than the interest not incrementing, which isn't a big deal, but this problem I had with the template system being messed up happened at another person's forums as well.

I did the same as you, but the issue comes when yu add a new catagory and buy an item. The item that you buy in the new catagory doesn't show up in the postbit, but the other 4 do.

im more than sure its because you messed up the intallation...ive tested these more than 4 times in different boards i dint get a single error from it....wich leads to my conclusion that you messed it up,if vivi and/or mewtwo dont mind i can give some support for these sh*t....

There is an bug in the donate, if you fill in -X (x is the number) then the "donator" gets +X and the "receiver' -X

The main problem that is bugging everyone is that

Doesnt show up on the thread, is their an alternate way of making it show up? Caue i can make a taable myself, i just need the info to make the table, since "$post[items]" isnt the correct item to put in postbit, does anyone know the correct item? Or just the info that enables the items box to appear?

Hmm, you know what i find very annoying, You .And vivi, for your information about our "Laziness" It seems your coding is the one thats lazy, the problem most (and i HAVE read every post and provided people with a solution) people are having is with the items showing up in the postbit. There is an error in the categories thats why, If you delete a category then add a new one, it wont show that categories items, or something like that, But if you don't delete the category, and modify and delete the selected items in it, it works fine. But this hack was just to much hassel, i uninstalled it. Please dont peeve me off with your rants vivi, I really dont find you impressive at all.

EVERYONE WITH AN $post [items] CHECK THE BETTER FIX A FEW POSTS UP ONLY USE THIS IF THAT DIDNT WORK.

Theres some sort of weird muck up in the categories. If you have created a new category, all the items in that category will not show on your postbit. There is a way around this, and i posted it at an earlier page, but ill copy it here.
NOTE: Scroll down to the RED TEXT if you have not deleted any categories, If you have,follow all the steps bellow.

If you are fresh installing, run the install script, and after its done, go from step 4

Step 1:

ok ok people, this is the problem, this hack is ultra sensitive, its like a new route canal, and other installed hacks are a cold rush of air.

If you have other hacks installed, its mosts likely this wont work! This hack was made super sensitive and we need someone to unsensidize it,

I have installed a fresh copy of vb, then istalled the hack, bbom, perfect. then i changed one thing in a file, boom hacks fudges up, then when i make everything default again the problem stays the same, it doesnt go back. If your having trouble with this hack dont worry, it wasnt made with the idea that ppl might have other hacks on their board. So just 4get about this.

Im glad to see it worked for someone. I think its pretty much hassel free if you read the instructions carefully and run it with its default items, its as soon as you try and customise it that problems arrise.

:ermm: Well, read step 4 of the guide and make sure that your Field is correct by mouse overing the edit button in the User Fields thang. Be sure the fields match, and if that dosent work, then maybe you installed it wrooong

everythng works, i see the $ i just dont see the items, they are not shown

if its not fixed by the above, i dont know whats wrong with it, It should be something to do with the user field, EG, you may think that because the field selected is 5th from the top, that it would be field 5, however, if you rollover edit it shows you the true field number at the end of the url in the bottom left load bar. Mines was 8. This in theory should fix the problem, if not follow the whole of the procedure shown on the prev page step by step, that fixed the same problem for me,.

that number only correesponds to the points/money, it doesnt do anything to if the items show up or not.

If you have not deleted any of the categories, or customised it in anyway, i cant help you, all i can suggest is that you either,
Fresh install the WHOLE vbulletin board.
OR
Go over the code then follow the steps i provided.

I have this hack installed with tons of other hacks and it works perfectly. No wonder Vivi is pissed off at this thread. Goddamn, read the instructions and it will ++++ing work.

For those who can't, put:
$post[items]
that in your postbit template! Yes that and only that! Maybe a <br> tag after, but all you need is that damnit!

Doesnt show up on the thread, is their an alternate way of making it show up? Caue i can make a taable myself, i just need the info to make the table, since "$post[items]" isnt the correct item to put in postbit, does anyone know the correct item? Or just the info that enables the items box to appear?

This is truelly a great hack, i commend the author on ts behalf, but this problem is very annoying to alot of people, and whoever has fixed the prob should share the solution!

Im going to re-install this, Hoping it will work properly, if it dosent someones gonna die, because ive just fine tweaked the forums, i will update the code with the fixes suggested by the fix.

Yes, re-install it if you un-installed it. Great hack, especially with the fixes.
