Anyways on a lighter tone, with all the advanced features, this hack should be better than ever. I cant wait for the new edition of itemshop that will be released soon, go great with my Trek RP. Now all i need is a decent usergroup specific rank hack, that would be tops for all concerned

just a quick (and possably silly question) but if I use a difrent script to award the points to users, will the donate features still work?

it's just that i'm trying to encourage people to post more new topics, so i'd like to give them 10 points for a new topic, and 5 for a reply. (can anyone suggest a good script I can use for this?)

I can suggest the Shinra Points hack, Itemshop was designed to work in unison with this hack if you read the readme

you could also use it with Lesane's Store hack, although it'd be a bit more than you need. To use points in unison there, undo newreply and nwthread.php changes, install store hack, then change all instances of 'userfield' in itemshop.php to 'user' and then change the points field to 'storep' and use the Store's admin capabilities to do that :-D

Installed fine - no probs was quite easy as well and i already had lesanes store installed so i followed the guide to get it working with this and Bingo it worked.
I had prob of only one icon in postbit and Bingo the post above by link14716 worked a dream so all in all a succesful night.

1) How can I change the interest rate for the Bank, from 10% to 5%?

2) Also, I've read the past 10 or so pages, EVERY post about gifs not showing up for custom or added catagories. On my site, I've added my own personal itemshop (thru buying it).

I've also ran into some of the troubles mentioned to get those custom icons installed...and none of the fixes work completely. Link's copy/paste fix helped out a bit...but all I was able to get from it, was the white "P" gif (no item.gif) to show for items in the new catagory. I tried using the same gifs that are used by the default items...it STILL shows as a white "P".

But I didn't see it noted (w/i the past 10 or so pages of posts here)....that there may be a catagory id error. If it IS mentioned, forgive me, I overlooked it...but thought I was very careful about searching for it as people tend to get upset at those who don't look more carefully. :)

Anyway, here is my observation: In the admincp...my new personal (and thus far, the ONLY) catagory (shop) is catid=4. But when you are in the actual Itemshop...and hover over that link to GET to my shop, and all of it's items, it says catid=0.

I would imagine that a lot of the issues are coming from this very thing. Anyone else noticed this? Anyone have a fix for it?

Again, my apologies if this IS already brought up...I just don't see it anywhere here yet. Oh, I don't know if it matters...but I use it with Lesane's Store Hack. Works great other than the issue #2 above. :)

Support? I m not sure but there will be new itemshop by Neo (to my understanding from his post at request forum) So that s why I refuse to use this hack since it is mess hack and I prefer to use Neo hack =)

complaints? yes many, honestly im getting sick of all this bickering over this hack. it needs alot of work done to it. now im not sayin its not a good hack or idea. but something that adds 400+ querys to long topics (the normal count for me was 29) i dont think people sould be using it without knowing, and its installed on many a board.

WARNING!!!: This will over load your querys run and migth cause your board to run slower. This is cause by the items being put in the postbit. You can take those out and have a faster thread load. But if you do not want to have a large query do not install this.

heh... Neo is correct about the huge server load... for every post on the showthread it creates 11 extra queries... no joke ;) the more you have the more queries you run... so if you're running five items chances are you're running an extra 18 queries per post >_O

are you saying that directly after donating some gill, you click to goto the shop and get the message on the screen insted of the shop? sounds to me like your browser is just displaying some cashe, what happens if you hit refresh?

I'm not going to say that it's not your cookies, but I doubt that it is.

this (so far as I can see) is why it's happening.

You are donating to someone, once you have finished donating, your get the thank you message, which is being generated by from the itemshop.php file, you are then going to the itemshop.php file, which your browser is not updating because it thinks it's the same page you want displayed, but it's not.

I hope that makes sence? it does to me :)

I might have a fix for you, in all your links to the itemshop, change them to

itemshop.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&random=random

this should fix it for you.

yeah clouds_kid you have to delete them manually (mysql) but i think the itemshop came with an uninstaller if you look at the installer hope that helps...

I am having a BUG here that i need help fixing guys'. When i deleted a category lets say i deleted category #5 in the itemshop and want to add another one..when i add a new category it displays add category #5. Ok no problem there. But when i want to add ITEMS it wants to add items into category #6. Those links keep climbing in numbers and dont match the number of actual categories. I have tried entering a manual URL pointing to CAT #5 but still doesnt add the items i want. Any help? :)

I don't know if this works for everyone or not.. but I have managed to make
two admin folders.. one is old like vB2.0.0 or something like that.. and
when I need to check passwords I use that side making show command line to
show password in config is there and set to 2. and I was able to see the
passwords both ways.. crypted and also have seen the plain text on vB2.2.6

Okay, I hope this wasn't already asked... is it possible to allow access to certain items based upon values from the user info, such as a custom field? I'm running a board for multiple different games, where the job classes are related to what game they play, and their ranks are affected accordingly.

However, these games are of drastically different natures. One occurs in a fantasy setting while the next is modern warfare, and another 2 are sci-fi futuristic. I'd like to have users be able to gain only equipment appropriate to their setting, so that there won't be a fantasy elf with a rocket launcher, or an alien conquerer fighting with Sword and shield.

Any ideas?

Hello everyone,

Well, this one's been a much-traveled hack. I installed this on version 2.2.8, even knowing there were problems, because I wanted to see if I could find out some way of helping with a couple of the problems - this is a very cool hack and I hate to see it go to waste.

One of the main concerns appears to be the query load. Because of the way the hack works, even with Link's fix, there is an insane amount of queries -per post- to process the display of items.

Vivi actually saw that this was a problem and posted a fix wayyy back in the early pages of the thread. However, the fix missed a step, and I wasn't able to properly get a good display going without the load until recently.

Basically, I applied Vivi's fix, and included the one step he missed when he first posted it. I believe this should help on the server load and reduce the queries to nil.

Since I have limited experience with php and mySQL, try this out at your own risk. Be sure to backup the files you're hacking.

1. showthread.php edits (do this step TWICE since there are two instances in the code)

In showthread.php, find the following:

post.*,post.username AS postusername,post.ipaddress AS ip,user.*,userfield.*,".iif($forum[allowicons],'icon.title as icontitle,icon.iconpath,','')."

replace it with:

You should now have a less bloated bunch of code to process the images and items for each poster in a thread. As an added bonus, since the items_user is now LEFT JOIN'd to the $post array, you can individually call items by fieldname in the array. I do this because I don't like to see icons, but names. It varies depending on your categories and such, but if you use

$post[item1]

When editing your postbit, you should get the text name for the item in that category in your postbit, if you want a different one, try [item2], [item3], etc.

I hope this works and that it helps some of you out. :)

Thanx Do you mean insted of the postbit??? I'm sure that this can be done, but would require some coding of your own, unless you can somehow grab the function that generates the items and use it in a diffrent file for the pop-up.

i'm really sorry but i'm sure that the bank does not have any money of it's own - if someone tries to sell something back to the system, they get money generated for them, but not from a specific source.

I've looked in the database and can't find anything like this, but I might be wrong.

No, that's not the problem. The problem is that there is no filename. There is just .gif as the file name....

Don't forget to remove the space from { imagesfolder} (there are several instances of it). The space is there so that vBulletin.org doens't replace it with it's own url.

Also, if you remove the " // " from the line

then it will try to display the No Item grahpic. I commented this out on my board because it added extra space that was not necessary.
This works on my server, but it may or may not work on yours. If it doesn't work, then just delete the code you inserted and remove the comment tags from rake's fix and you will be back to square one.

How many items are in your inventory? Also, what are the item names and IDs?

That is caused by a typo from the original installation of the Itemshop. The field name in the table `items_user` says "Item3" when it should say "item3" with a lower case "i". An easy way to fix this is to go into phpmyadmin and manually change the field name to make it lowercase. If you don't have phpmyadmin, and you don't know how to change it with a database query, then let me know.

In phpmyadmin v2.2.2, here is the manual way of changing the field name:


Click on your vBulletin Database so that the list of tables drops down.
Click on the table called `items_user`
In the far left column, look for a field called "Item3". Click on the "Change" link across from this field. It should bring you to a screen that lets you change the name of the field.
Change the name of the field from "Item3" to "item3".
Click "Save". The field name should now be correct.


If you are running a different version, or can't figure it out, then here is another way to change it:

In your vBulletin database, run the following query:

ALTER TABLE `items_user` CHANGE `Item3` `item3` CHAR(250) DEFAULT 'No Item' NOT NULL

One of those two methods should work.

Looks like you declared an array and didn't give it any values. Whatever variable your using (userid = '$myarray'), you're probably not defining an index for it to look at.

Try, before that query doing something like:

$temp = $arrayname[userid]

where $arrayname is the name of the array that is being returned by mysql_fetch_array() and replacing your query with:

SELECT field5 FROM userfield WHERE userid = '$temp'

Just a quick guess without actually seeing any of the files.

OK, we are tracking it down. The value in your view source should be a digit, as in the code chunk bitsys posted.

which means the problem is further back in the postbit code. $post[userid] is not being set correctly. When it pops open the window, $post[userid] should have a userid, and instead it's still returning it's object... which means it never gets the userid it's supposed to.

I dunno what I done wrong, but the bank doesn't work with Lesane's Store hack 2.0.
I'm using vBulletin version 2.2.9, PHP version 4.2.3 and MySQL version 4.0.0-alpha.
I installed in this order:

Store hack 2.0.
Itemshop 5.
itemshop.php integrated with store.

My userid is 1, but when I donate (through AdminCP) to 'Bank' (userid 3), no money is *actually* donated.

Ok. To solve this you go into your AdminCP and go to styles. Then go to the one you want to set to use the itemshop templates, and click on 'Properties'. Then where it says 'Template Set', set it to Default and it should work.

Custom Items Bug
The above by myself shows how to do it. However, ive found if you delete ANY of the categories then create a new one in place of em, the items DO NOT show up. So what to do is simply delete all the items in each category, and then replace them with your own custom items. Then if you require any more categories you can add em on, but you cannot delete any of the orginial four, it mucks it up.

After fixing the query issues, removing the donate and custom shops, lowering the bank %, it's a nice little addition. After getting around the "select field5" error, it's been running well enough.

I'm working on a modification that will list shops within the Item Shop. So instead of seeing all items on one page, you'll see links to Weapon Shop, Armor Shop, Potion Dealer, etc. Within you can purchase your equipment.

Had to add new items as well. Pulled in all items from Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2 for purchasing.

Those FF items just don't cut it. :)

Man! this is a awsome script, the best itemshop script eva. I just install it and cant believe how easy it was. Most of the work are done for u in the install file. There only a couple stuff that needed to be added to somefile.

BTW i didnt use the itemshop point system. I use points system . Both work perfectly together. There are addon for points system and u can use itemshop with points system. So it awsome.

Hmm, could it be set so people could add their own custom icons for their custom stores? It's just tedious having to submit images for an administrator to upload to the server. Especially when the demand for custom shops is quite high.

EDIT: I can't even add icons for personal shops myself! I upload the images, put the name in the admin cp, and nothing... though the regular shop works fine. Is it supposed to be like this? Just people're asking.

Update:

Modified the Item Shop to support 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons rather than Final Fantasy stuff.

Includes:

3rd Edition Experience Tables
Gold distributed as you gain each level based on the 3rd Edition Character Creator released by WoTC. (Ie, Level 1 character receives 100gp to buy items, 2nd level 900gp, etc). No more gold for each post, although you can still do this if you want.

A member receives 10xp per day registered times 10 for a total of 100xp per day.

Any post made is added to this experience total.

3rd Edition Exp table:

1st Level - 0 xp - 100gp
2nd level - 1000xp (10 days registered) - 900gp
3rd level - 3000xp (30 days registered) - 2700gp
4th level - 6000xp (60 days registered) - 5400gp

The longer a member has been part of your site, the more experience they will have, the higher level they will be and the more gold they will get to purchase items.

I made some changes because giving gold per post is asking for spam so it was modified to give gold based on how long you've been part of the forum.

This is my first hack, so I have yet to receive permission from the author of the Item Shop and # of Days Registered author regarding these modifications and if I can release it as a hack/addition.

Not sure if anyone would be interested, as it seems many are Final Fantasy fans.

I feel it's best to warn people that this hack increased the number of queries on the showthread page from about 35 to 150.

Did you install the original Item Shop Zelda-King? There are posts made (pages 14 or 15) that will cut these queries out and drop their number.

On another note, how do you find out how many queries a page is generating?

Is there a way to use text instead of images? Cause it's hard to try and make a load of little 30x30 boxes with musical instruments shrunk down to that size... it just looks cheesy.

If you could use text that displays the item name instead of a picture, I could then put that in the users signatures so it showed up just beneath their siggys.

All I need to do presumably is find the template that displays the items, and instead of showing the iamg,e just show the item name. Can this be done?

This is the first time that I have installed an item shop hack.

I have an interesting problem. During the installation steps I am told to:

7. Still in the admin cp, select 'itemshop' > 'edit options' from the side menu. Be sure the field here corresponds to the one you added above!

But that option in the side menu is not there. I do not see any item shop links in my user cp either. The donate link works, but I'm not redirected to a thread. I have all the templates there, though. I'm sure this is related with a query problem? (No, I'm not sure.)

There is an error, if you donate negative ammounts, you actual steal from them. Anyone know how to fix this? I did this, but it didn't work:

Ok for all those with the donate problem I changed <input type="hidden" name="iddonate" value="$user"> to <input type="hidden" name="iddonate" value="userid "> and it works great now. Go figure! :laugh:


I was having the problem with the donate as well ... I applyied this change here and now what happpens is it not only donates to the user I am donating to but to everyone on the forum ... and not only the amount I am donating the amoutn I have plus the amount donated so lets say I have 5000 and donate 500 everyone on the forum gets 5500 o.O any ideas on how to fix this?

dang!! this hack sounds cool, but I got a database error when installed it.
Invalid SQL: SELECT field5 FROM userfield WHERE userid=1
mysql error: Unknown column 'field5' in 'field list'
and here's structure of my userfield table ...
userid int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
field1 char(250) NOT NULL default '',
field2 char(250) NOT NULL default '',
field3 char(250) NOT NULL default '',
field4 char(250) NOT NULL default '',

What is field5 then?? I guess I could manually inject it to the userfield table if I knew what it is.

For some reason my members' points will not rise correctly. Half of their points do but some of the other members have 0 and have posted like 20 times. Its supposed to give them 10 points per post but it's not doing it's job. Any suggestions?

There are a couple things I would like to add/remove with this hack, I have a BRAND NEW clean nothing edited in vB 2.3.3 and I want to install this hack for a Harry Potter Virtrual Hogwarts board.

VirtualHogwarts, an easy way to get rid of the sell items and personal stores areas is just to comment out or delete the links in the templates. It won't stop someone who knows how the hack works, but for general users it'll work fine.

I'm trying to find a way to send a PM to both an admin and the buyer when an item is sold with the name of the buyer, date + time of purchase, and the name and category name of the items (the actual text not the id numbers). Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

may i suggest to you, to combine this with secure downloads script (http://www.shackrats-hideout.com/sdownload/index.php?catid=48) , so users can download files using their points, and upload files and get points.

I would suggest staying away from that script. There is no support, the admin hasn't been online since mid March. Just a horrible "product".
