Reording forums

I'm thinking of asking in the paid services section for a mod which allows users to reorder forums as they wish, putting the ones they're interested in at the top of the forum display, and even hiding those they don't care about. I think customizing a long forum list individually would be really useful.

Before I do that, I wanted to get a sense of the scope/scale of that project. Is that difficult to do? Am I talking about a major programming endeavor, or a smallish mod?

I think this is a good idea but instead of using database to store orders then you can use cookies to save which user ordered on their PC so that they can see it in next sessions.

but then they would have to re-order it when they used a different browser or computer. By keeping it in the DB it would follow them no matter where they logged in from.

I'm not sure if there are mods available for people to "favorite" forums but this would probably be your best bet.
