display last few threads in a forum

Hi,

VB4 question,

Is there a way how to display the last few replied threads on the forumhome??

let's say I want to display the last three replied threads in the forumhome page instead of threads and replies area, what is the code that can handle that??

I'm planning to delete threads and replies area in the forumhome and add the last few replied threads instead...

I hope it is clear!!

Depending on how many forums you have, this is not a good idea at all. While the number of replies and the last post info is saved in the forum table and is easily available, you'd need to query the database for every single forum on your forum home page to get the last x threads with the latest replies.

As i said, it can probably be done, but neither is it something easily accomplished in a few minutes nor is it, in my opinion, advisable.

I just wanted to show last 4 latest threads or so. It is just to let the members know that these are the most active forums.

I will try searching on the net hoping I can find a way to do that.

I've got two ways to do that now yet not sure which one is easier...

1st one is to re-create a form for each forum or group of forums as an RSS-way feed.

2nd use the sidebar blocks and distribute them in the forum as forum blocks...

I still have a lot to do for this...

any idea which one is better and why??
