Edit Site Button doesn't work all the time...

Sometimes the 'Edit Site' trigger will not turn to ON, the mouse does change to hand pointing to it, but nothing happens, and sometimes if it does I can click on lets say Admin CP or Edit Page but only once, when I go back after saving what ever I was working on, the lings at the top will not highlight, I can click on them but all that happens is in the URL bar after the URL of my website it will put in the # there. www.mysite.com/#

I have restarted my computer, tried in Firefox, IE, and Chrome, on another computer with Chrome and IE and it does the same thing. I have not touched any of the CSS, only thing I have done is changed the color with the color wheel.

This is a brand new install of 5.05 on a brand new website. It was working fine for a half day when I was adding forum Channels.

I just tried being on the home page but still no luck. I have not been able to get into the system all day.

I'm trying to think of what changes I have made, color is the only one I can think of, other than adding a Super-Mod, and simple Admin stuff. No CSS changes or adds.

You need to disable plugins from the config
To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

That worked to turn on the Edit Site button, but when I click on "New Page" - "Edit Page" etc no matter what page I am on in the forums, it will take me to the home page.

Also I couldn't/can't click edit or any of the links on my own post to edit it. I'm logged in as Administrator.

You would need to test to see what plugin is causing the problem. If you have only installed the one custom one, then it must be that one so best to remove it. (Make sure you also delete any files you installed to the FTP as well with the plugin).

I forgot about the mobile style premium that I bought with the Vbulletin package, it doesn't show right on my phone anyway, the default style works perfectly on my phone, but change it to the Mobile Style Premium and it goes awry.

I'm trying to remove it now but I can't click on the Revert button, going to keep trying.

For now so you can see the forum properly simply edit the mobile style settings:

> AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > *Click the drop-down beside the mobile style and select "Edit Settings" then choose the option to not allow it to be selectable and save. *This will prevent new and current members from trying to access it for now until it is fixed (that is if a global issue for all).

Now while in admincp visit the Style Manager again, click the title of the main site style (not the mobile) and as you can see the styles name is actually a link to the style too, click the primary PC style and now it will open the forum up in the style your used to.

*For Ads you mentioned Google... are you editing the templates directly to insert your ads (used to be the preferred method especially in vB3) or utilizing the Ad Manager in vBulletin 4 options?

Yes I did do an announcement I will remove it!

Instead of announcements use Notices instead- they have similar functionality and don't cause this other issues. They are found in the Admin CP as well under Notices on the side menu.
