They say they throttled me due to CPU usage to 20 seconds wait time to deliver content.

You would need to ask you host, most likely a poor shared server.

I am on with them now.

They say that my site is using to much resources i just dont see it.

My average load times are up near 10-16 seconds.

The only thing i did recently which would had caused a spike was updated my forum and made an SQL backup.

They say a script causes this to happen or a bad plugin. The only plugins im using is vbadvanced and vBshout.

Then I would disable the mods, and see what happens. More than likely though it is a crappy shared server, that is causing it.

I agree ozzy47. Who would you recommend. The agent cut off my chat due to inactivity when i was actively engaged in chat.

I am livid

I would try out URLJet, I hear they are pretty good for vBulletin sites, http://www.urljet.com/

Me personally I use Hivelocity, but that is a dedicated server, much more than you need starting off.

You DO have alot of optimization work to do.

WebPageTest (http://www.webpagetest.org/result/140209_8K_J9K/)

But of your host is "throttling" you it sounds like they have enough business to suit them and don't want yours. Leave.

I agree max.

Im working on optimization atm.

That being said i have a new issue.

That is to generic of an error I think you need to switch hosts before you go any further.

Any shoutbox, chat bars or instant message scripts you use and are hosted on your own server will "always" use tons of resources. I know ozzy will disagree because he has worked with most DB Tech mods but vBshout has always been a huge culprit of this.

The only way that shout systems wont cause this is if you are are on a dedicated server instead of shared hosting.

The best way to have a shout box or chat bar is to use one that is not hosted on your server. I personally use Envolve which you can find here: https://www.envolve.com/

Try it out ...

My host is the cat's meow. Could be you went too cheap on hosting.

I agree Shout boxes use up resources, but he had like a total of 10 people online at the time 4 members and 6 guests, hardly a reason for the issues. :)

The issue apparently was the DB backup i did on the site before i updated to 4.2.2.

I really like alot of the DB mods i have found. Im running two atm.

That being said, My forum is not that big atm and still growing. Once i reach a point of 100 people online using shoutbox ill get a VPS

This thread has years of feedback from countless vBulletin clients looking for good hosting - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/general/vbulletin-hosting-options/21955-host-experiences-and-testimonials-thread use it to your advantage i.e. grab a cup of coffee sit down for a few and read up ;). Make sure you make a well-informed decision before simply switching hosts.

it is resource heavy when you do a database back up depending on how you do it. This probably put your resources over the top for a short amount of time and put you on their radar.

If you are using the database back up mod here set it up so it does not do the entire thing in one chunk.

What is the other database mod you have?

Either way I would get rid of them and get a better host.

Fair enough ozzy....but I did use one shoutbox, not sure which one it was and I only had 5 members chatting and I was getting flagged every time for it....which is why I now use the chat bar I have which is not hosted on my server ....haven't had any problems since ...
