I just received an update from a Vendor on my forum. Apparently when trying to post they are being redirected to a Captcha log-in, having to enter the code before they can post.

anybody have nay ideas of where I should be looking to sort this out? Not sure if this is an isolated problem or a usergroup issue?

note: Vendors are set up as a separate usergroup on the forum (similar privileges as Premium members)

What is set for that group under ACP --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager, Require Human Verification on Configured Actions

I'm not seeing that

selecting Usergroup Manager brings up a screen showing the various usergroups

OK then click on Go for the group in question.

That sucks, but at least it's sorted now. :)

sux big time ... we didn't know about the install issue because our IT guy left and never informed us.

Out of sheer luck we found a hacker logged in as Admin and altering settings attempting to lock us out of our own forum. Fortunately they were stopped, immediately banned and deleted. But there was a lot of user, group and forum setting altered.

It's been tedious to go through each and every one to make them right and every now and then a member stumbles upon one ... drama ensues

Thanks again for the help, much appreciated :)

Check admin logs to see what has been changed. As you have deleted him it will be a blank name beside what has been changed.

That's a very general idea, it will say something like this:

13691 Ozzy47 21:09, 30th Jan 2014 options.php options 00.000.000.000

OR

13700 Ozzy47 21:49, 30th Jan 2014 usergroup.php edit usergroup id = 2 00.00.00.000

Does not specifically say what was changed

at the time it happened I literally went though permission by permission in an attempt to correct the damage.

Obviously, some altered settings got missed but the membership has been extremely understanding of the situation (we made a general announcement that the forum was hacked and having difficulties before anyone knew what was going on).

This particular issue was a little more serious as it affected our Vendors - industry affiliates we hope to grow with. So having them turned off would not be a good thing for us.

Again, the help is appreciated

Well hopefully the vendors will understand too, this sort of thing can happen to any site.
