Is there a way to create a signature stamp for each post?
In other words, a user creates the signature, but it will be stamped onto every post and will remain unchanged even if the user changes the signature.
When the user does change the signature, this new signature will be displayed only on new posts, but the old signature will remain on old posts, frozen in time if you will.
I hope this makes sense. Is there a way of doing that?
I think you could do that. You could just add the user's sig on to the end of the message text, and set the "include sig" flag to off. You could then edit the sig with the message, but I guess you'd want to be able to do that anyway.

Thanks for that, it sounds like it's a manual process, though. I was looking for an automated way.
No, I meant that you could do it in a plugin (I think). If you look at the code in newthread.php and newreplay.php, I think there's probably a hook location in those (I think you'd need to handle both) where you could do it.

I'll look at that - thanks, man.
I could look in to it a little more if you want. I wasn't sure how much detail you were looking for (but I suppose maybe it's more than I gave).
