BUG - Permissions issue with Admin Closed threads

When an Admin or Moderator closes out a thread, the original Author is able to go back in and reopen the thread. There is no possible solution to stop users from reopening threads that have been closed out. The only option is to soft-delete the thread or ban the user.

I have tested this in all 4.x.x versions with no mods installed. I am seeing nothing in the code to prevent this from occurring either.

In the Usergroup Manager, under "Post / Thread Permissions", what do you have "Can Open/Close Own Threads" set to?

"Can Open/Close Own Threads" - is set to "Yes".

That is not the issue. The issue is that the user is able to override the Admin/Moderator actions.

If the Admin/Mod closes the thread the user should not be allowed to re-open it. If the user closes the thread then they should be allowed to re-open as needed. User should never be allowed to override admin/moderator actions.

I see what you mean, but to be fair that's the way you feel it should work, not the way it was designed or advertised to work, so it's not a bug. In any case, whether a bug or a suggestion, the place to report it would be on vbulletin.com.

I believe that is the logical way based off of the hierarchy of how permissions work. No user below your permission group should be able to override that groups changes.
