So I have 2 sites.
Both hosted on the same cPanel.
I installed .htaccess and .htpasswors files exactly the same in both Admin folders.

As I wanted to protect my Admin log in area.

Now get this, one site works fine, if I try to go to www.mysite.com/admincp it asks for the username and password.
If i don't enter it and click to close the password and username tab it does what it should do and shows this error:
Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
But when I do the exact same thing on my other site and click to close the password and username tab it doesn't show the above and goes to the log in page for the admin cp

This has been sending me crazy for around 4 hours now, I have no idea why one works and the other one doesn't, the paths are write as they both path to the same way.

Has anyone ever come across this problem before?
any help would be great

Hello,

An excerpt from your .htaccess file would help (not your passwords file!)
