Currently there is not an ad location for your site to use, however mochi and other game distributors have programs for you to opt into to share ad revenues.

Is anyone getting any issues on how the forum behaves after installing this?.

Had several members getting duplicate post also when editing posts then clicking save the save just takes forever.

Also the clicking the DB thanks like sometimes is opening in another window.

As soon as I disabled the arcade the save button works fine and no duplicate posts.

This is with both FF and Google chrome, VB4.1.5 PL1 running vbseo.

the way it looks on your site was so different from the way it looked on mine. Mine was messed up alot also if i installed a game alot of images where missing and even if i installed it it did not remove the installed game from the list so i had no idea what was installed and what was so it meant going back to the site to look to see what ones where this took to long to check every game

If you want to be able to convert your old games, scores, and compatible settings, leave your old arcade installed, install vbarcade, run the import process, then remove the old arcade.

Please note that due to the way games work internally, you can only have one arcade present at a time; if you think the possibility exists that you might want to revert back to your old arcade, try installing on a test board. otherwise, the only way to go back would be with a file/database backup. This is true for all of the arcades (not just vbarcade).

Do you have a large amount of traffic? There are very few plugins with vbarcade that operate outside of the arcade, none of which have anything to do with posting. The closest thing (by proximity) would be the postbit trophies. Try disabling only those and see if your posting stuff works.

I've been getting some reports about this, but it only seems to affect certain games played in the IE family, but not all (and some people can run those same games on their sites in ie just fine...). So, try it on a test install and if you can see some games work and others dont, let me know the ones that dont.

Also when I go and use the editor whilst the trophies are disabled the editor looks a mess...

Thats actually just a minor bug when you dont check anything at the bottom before importing. It has no ill effects on the actual import process other than outputting the warning. Regardless, I'll be fixing it asap, but its not something that breaks anything.

We've discussed it internally and decided to add an option to remove the hivelocity part of the footer for anyone who wishes to on the lite version - we plan to extend this to our other mods with the same footer as they are updated.

Hello, how can i set the user permission to only registered members can see and play the arcade?

i see something under Manage Permissions but i dont understand what to do :/

Then create a new permission with the usergroups you want to give access to, and set to Play or Record or Score (see description for differences)

I'm interested in using this Arcade system, but I'm having 2 issues.

One is the obvious IE problems, which has already been mentioned for the most part.

The second, could there possibly be a way in the future to set a global "max" width for flash games? I see there's an option for the max for the increase/decrease options after the flash game loads, but I have a fixed width site, and half of the time by default games tend to break my style.

I know I could edit each and every game to fit in with my style, but surely there could be a simpler option that won't break fixed styles on it's own?

The option "Maximum Postbit Trophies" doesn't seem to be working. I've set it to 4 and it still displays the 7 trophies I've gained from testing out the arcade. I also setup the arcade on my test board to see if it was some sort of conflict from my main board, but it still has the same problem =/

Any ideas?

Anything to make an extra buck these days. Whatever happened to that vB community that released stuff because they enjoyed coding? Now-a-days it just seems everything is bloated with links to purchase branding free options or extra "pro" features you have to pay extra for. You never saw this sort of thing back in to the vB2.x days. I agree Paul, this is poor etiquette and a rule should be made about forcing links with nothing to do with the mod.

In a nutshell, this arcade looks great, but I will not be installing it as I won't put a commercial link on my community site. I also own a hosting firm and even refuse to put a powered by link to my own business on my site. I really hope you reconsider forcing this as I'm sure others feel the same and past by this great add-on as the result,

This is now an option for you to easily disable if you wish :) It has always been intended as a way to support us for the free lite version if you have no intention of getting the pro one - because we make sure our lite versions arent useless "demo" quality!

That appears to be an error from v3 Arcade, judging from the language group it is trying to access, plus arcadetourmnt.php is not a file added by vBArcade.

What were you doing when you got that error? Sounds like you still have a link to that file somewhere on your site, but because you have uninstalled v3 Arcade, that orphaned file has no supporting resources to access, so you get that. Find the lingering links and remove them, and delete that arcadetourmnt.php.

You seem to be trying to untar a particularly large game file (looks like 8MB and you have a memory limit of 32M). Does it work with other games you have (smaller ones!)?

Not a whole lot can be done about it because its not an optimization issue, short of increasing your memory limit.

I am almost ready with an update to vbarcade for hopefully this weekend, that includes the handful of reported bugs that have been patched, optional vbcredits integration support, and even some ie7 fixes for the layout (which incidentally will make it easier for vb3 porting)

Wow, this actually boils down to a typo! In (forum)/(admincp)/arcade_admin.php find:

TYPE_ARRAY_NOTHML

and replace with

TYPE_ARRAY_NOHTML

Do you have an .htaccess file in your forum root? Did you get any installation errors when you imported the vbarcade product xml? Do any games work with scoring?

Yes I have a .htaccess file, no errors when importing product, no games save score. Also after playing a game for the first time all other games come up with this when I go to play them. You appear to be playing a game;
starting this might forfeit that session.

Just installed this on my live board, ran the import and lost all the high scores, not too bothered about that, but having difficulty with a lot of the games i have as they dont save, in the game box my forum appears for a short while then screen reloads and no scores are saved

Ask your host to enable allow_url_fopen in your php.ini settings - that being disabled only prevents you from using the feed-based import methods; the others should work fine (including downloading games from mochi and using the upload import method).

Also just noticed when this mod is installed i get this error when trying to view a PM ??

Just installed this on my live board, ran the import and lost all the high scores, not too bothered about that, but having difficulty with a lot of the games i have as they dont save, in the game box my forum appears for a short while then screen reloads and no scores are saved

In my testing, this fixed playing games in IE9-7 at least - please confirm, since the guy who originally reported this at our site never got back to me :D

Unfortunately, this addon is new enough for me to only have a couple "common" causes to why scoring isnt working. As those are exhausted quickly, I generally can't recall every possible thing that could be happening (could even be a server thing ive yet to know about). In the meantime, it will always be vastly faster for both of us if I can get directly to your problematic setup and debug directly with the games you are using to figure out what your specific problem is - and upon finding that solution, ill have another bullet point to check with the next guy.

Keep in mind that you can always create both temporary and limited versions of your admincp accounts and ftp accounts to cater specifically to where and what I might need access to, and I would be happy to walk through what I'm doing over IM or something. But that's of course entirely up to you, and wish you luck with support if you decide to try elsewhere.

I think that's a bit of an overreaction there Gemma, though as a fellow Scot I'll put it down to our fiery nature =P.

I don't think John meant what you're reading into his comment there to be honest, I read it as a throwaway good luck elsewhere with individual support if you are uncomfortable with allowing developers access to debug issues.

Either way, to clear up any possible misconceptions and make our position official: Our feedback from users has not at any point indicated the support for Gemma's mods is poor compared to other mods on vBulletin.org. We have no reason to believe the support of her mods is in any way, shape or form bad or lacking, and while I can't speak from personal experience of her work anyone who has worked on a mod as long as she has deserves praise =).

Obviously we'd argue about the better part though! =D

The permissions for you and that game have not been set to Score
The game has been set to not accept scoring
The game has been set to the wrong scoring system
Your game session has not submitted the score
Your .htaccess file has not been altered correctly (usually indicated by errors during product import)
Your arcade is set to archive your non-best scores, and that was not your best scoreThe first bullet is most likely, the next two are USUALLY set automatically, MOST games will have a well-informed score submission time (though I've seen games that send without telling you, and some that don't actually send despite claiming it), the fifth bullet will usually throw installer errors/messages, and the last bullet should at least show some scores from somewhere being saved.


Do only specific games, or specific scoring systems, or all games not save scoring for yourself, specific usergroups, or everyone?

If you have checked all of those and think its all correct, please PM me an admin login and FTP so I can look into it.

Can I get a screenshot of this happening? Unfortunately the first one that got posted was of the entire desktop and has been skewed such that its difficult to figure out which dimensions of the game are incorrect :-/ Alternatively, if someone wants to PM me an admin login with style permissions I can verify that I've got this taken care of in the next update.

I'm actually trying to include vbcredits integration in the next version, or at least all the hooks in place that im going to want. All of the bugs reported so far have been taken care of.

Im not sure why it does not work when using the advert crazy arcade games.

I have moved onto V3arcade which works fine and support seems fine to me.

Not really sure what you ment about good luck finding support elsewhere, i have a working arcade system and does not require the author to make edits to my files.

I have imported a few games but I have been getting the error from the beginning. I would say about 50-75% of the time. Also I apologize about stating the bug for ie for the reduction of screen size when attemping to play and not getting back to you sooner. I hadn't seen that you replied.

30 seconds is usually plenty for php, unless you have some sort of network issue with mochi responding to you, which I can only imagine if you have already downloaded many mochi games. Otherwise, extending that will require your host to make a php.ini edit.

Do you mean locally as in localhost? If so, mochi cant ping your scores back to localhost, since its not a global address. If you dont mean localhost, are you sure youve entered your mochi id and secret in your vbarcade settings? Have you set up your site's address with mochi? Is your site behind a password prompt?

What happened was that the Header and Footer got broken and everything ended up on top of each other on the left hand of the screen.

So I uninstalled the Arcade and the forum returned to normal.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Every game was imported off ibProArcade.

Everything else works flawlessly making this an excellent addition!

That error is not related to vBArcade code - looks like ibproarcade. You should at least disable it.

Manage Permissions in vBArcade does take the secondary usergroups into account, and usergroup support is available in the lite version :)

Go to admincp > vbarcade > import games

The Upload Games section will tell you the correct folder you can place all tar files into, as well as a note to make sure it is chmod 777. When you submit it, should list the games from within them.

If you want to verify your folder is correct and the files you are using are correct, upload it through the single file upload, and it should at least find the game, or display errors about the folder not being properly readable/writable.

If no error and no game, send me a PM and I will check the tar file you are using - ive run into bad tars in the past.

Have you already imported many pages of mochi games? Has the import gotten slower the more you import? Or is this the first time you are importing from mochi and you are getting this error?



Here are the current reasons why scores might not be submitting on your site:
The permissions for you and that game have not been set to Score
The game has been set to not accept scoring
The game has been set to the wrong scoring system
Your game session has not submitted the score
Your .htaccess file has not been altered correctly (usually indicated by errors during product import)
Your arcade is set to archive your non-best scores, and that was not your best scoreThe first bullet is most likely, the next two are USUALLY set automatically, MOST games will have a well-informed score submission time (though I've seen games that send without telling you, and some that don't actually send despite claiming it), the fifth bullet will usually throw installer errors/messages, and the last bullet should at least show some scores from somewhere being saved.

Do only specific games, or specific scoring systems, or all games not save scoring for yourself, specific usergroups, or everyone?

If you have checked all of those and think its all correct, please PM me an admin login and FTP so I can look into it.

Games that do not support local scoring will fall back on using the time played as the score. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

There is a arcade user page which holds all of their stats and latest scores. I put it there because theres too much to stick on a profile tab.

Max daily plays are a pro feature.

Im not sure why I cant find the .htaccess file on my server. When I do a search for it, it shows there to be at least 20 different ones, but when I click on each one to go to the file, it just takes me to the folder where it is supposed to be, but there is no .htaccess file there.

Ive gotten alot of errors and cannot install zipped files or games. I was able to install 2 tar files but did come up with this error while installing. They did work however.

I am interested in buying the pro version but not if I am going to have the same problem.

I have had one report of that happening before, but didnt figure out what was causing it, but it was definitely related to that person's styles or addons. I dont withhold patches from the lite versions :p definitely wait on getting the pro version until that is sorted out.

Well, the success ratio for this addon doesn't seem so bleak despite the handful of people who have had scoring problems, which is why I have a troubleshooting guide in the first place.

All of them have since been addressed with updates and patches, but I cannot delete their obsolete posts to clear up that impression. I was able to arrive at the solutions by seeing what their unique situations were. A few happened to be from the same bugs, but again my troubleshooting guide has many bullets to try because of the many unique scenarios so far.

I'm not upset, just concerned you will not be able to get much help in general if that is your policy towards standard support cycles. It is only coincidence that I am the perhaps the first person to be spending this much time discussing it with you, but you'll have the same problem with support for other addons eventually.

Your mechanic can only give you a short list of stuff to figure out why your car isn't running, and if you try them all and don't give him your keys to try it out himself, there's not much hope in getting your car fixed.

I don't want to simply write you off and ignore you from now on, because I'm really not trying to be rude to you :( heck, if it made you more comfortable and got your problems fixed, I would even be willing to sign some sort of contract in private.

I'm not sure where you feel John was upset - He was simply making the point that there almost certainly won't BE a "fix" for the issue - since a) we have no idea what is causing your issue and b) there is no global issue with the product - hundreds of sites are running vBArcade with the feature working just fine.

95% of the time the instructions in the thread work, the 5% of the time they DON'T work it is because of a conflict somewhere. It could be a setting, a conflicting modification, something outdated on the server etc. We have no way of knowing without actually being able to access the server and check it out.

I'm not really sure what you meant by " if you are going to pay my server costs and vb license by all means i would give you access" - Us taking the time to come to your site and fix the issue unique to your server is us helping you :P

Not granting us access is your prerogative of course, but considering as a company we count companies as large as Gearbox Software as clients and sites such as mmo-champion as clients you could safely assume your site would be safe in our hands =)

In any case we genuinely do wish you the best in finding something that will better suit your needs, no one is "upset" at you by any means so i'm glad to clear up that misconception =).

It's not a permissions problem as I have been able to play any game on any account (admin mod member etc etc).

Flash and javascript are enabled (in a skype meeting with some members), cookies have been cleared, and as far as I can tell the ad site (url) isn't blocked.

The ad is loaded by mochi though - so if it got that far, then vbarcade has successfully done as much as it can to serve up the game. Have you verified your domain with mochi?

I did not update mine, this is a new install. What I am finding is It wont register the scores and when you hold over the score button that is next to current champion on the left box beside the game screen I get this, (website name has been put in place of the site name)

Are you at least getting commas between names? Locally I get commas but they lack the spacing. Just wanted to make sure.

Do you know the browsers that those users are using? Does it work for yourself? Does scoring work when the games work?

Templates are found through your admincp. Styles & Templates menu, Style Manager link. Then dbtech_vbarcade_navtab is within the DragonByte Tech: vBArcade template group. It is definitely in the lite version.

The users having problems with the arcade games are using (the other admin has a mac notebook and even tried safari or whatever), IE, FF, and/or Chrome (all were updated when asked and tested again with no success).

Yes scoring works just fine :) I myself can play the games (on FF and IE both the latest versions) on 3 accounts (admin, mod, regular member), one of my moderators can play on their mod account and their regular account.

One of my mods can't play on their mod account or their regular account (exact same permissions).

i install right now your mod and import my old games from my ibparcade. great it shows all the old scores but when i play a game now it safe not the score from me.
what do i wrong?

I use vbseo, maybe it is important.

EDIT:
After the play and i bush submit tha arcade load my forumhome and then the game start again.

Yes scoring works just fine :) I myself can play the games (on FF and IE both the latest versions) on 3 accounts (admin, mod, regular member), one of my moderators can play on their mod account and their regular account.

Yes, and if you got the same error, you didnt apply it to the right file. The message includes the path to the file.

The import method has no bearing on scores (the end results of each are stored locally). However, scoring system matters. Tar games are usually ipa type and need the .htaccess working

The error message should have included the instructions on what to do with it - namely that you need to edit it into the .htaccess file specified and import the product again. If you get the same message, then you did not edit the right thing.

Hm, if this is still troubling you, I'll need the photopost addon to try it locally (or an admin login with plugin access on your site)

If you did not use the import system, it wont know which scoring system to set your game to, so you must be sure you are selecting the right on yourself.

You will need to contact your host to help with that.

You can still download games from mochi to your computer, and mass-upload them to your site, and process them with vbarcade import system.

After a very intense development period, with much great and appreciated feedback from our beta testers, I am happy to make available vBArcade v2.0.0 gold and lite.
Aside from the usual small improvements, I sought out to make the best flash arcade tournament system ever, and those who use it give it rave reviews.

My main focus was streamlining the entire process for players, from discovering and joining, to actually playing through the tournaments.
The system intelligently handles automatic pairing and replays with AJAX, to sending alerts, to breaking ties.

vBArcade tournaments are made to reward fast players by pairing them with each other, and allowing them to continue to advance as far as they qualify.

The php error: im unable to reproduce this by itself. From the line number and the fact that there is no foreach in vbarcade's plugin, I think its another addon conflicting. If someone can show me what other plugins are using the build_navigation_array hook, we can figure that out.

Cannot play right now: go to manage permissions and click the Update Permissions button and see if that fixes it.

This is the only other mod im using that has the build_navigation_array hook.

and when i disable this the php error disappears, to get round it I have disabled the navtab in the arcage config and created on using the Navigation manager.

Also I have the same permission error, and the update permission button didnt work..

To fix the permissions thing, edit (forums)/dbtech/vbarcade/functions_arcade.php find

$vbulletin->options['dbtech_vbarcade_access']

replace both instances with

$result

thisll be fixed on the main zip in a few mins

I've updated the first post with the new zip that fixes the permission issue as well as switches to the xml based vb4.2 navigation entry, to fix the conflict with andreas' addon.

You should delete any custom navtab created in the interim.

great mod, everything works fine exept one little thing. the highscore announcements are not postet in a thread or forum (tried both methods).

could it be if because of our linkstructure? for example the thread would be http://www.bazamba.com/threads/2613-Neue-Highscores

we tested 2613 and 2613-Neue-Highscores.

Unfortunately, posting new threads/posts is part of the pro version only (along with regular leaderboard high scores), and I've accidentally left the settings for that (in regards to tournaments) in the lite version. I'll have those removed soon.
