I am not sure if this problem existed previously (I don't think it did), but after upgrading, the linkedin button always shares the home page, not the actual page I am on.

E.g. - http://legalhelp.org/content/297-power-attorney-poa-overview.html - I tried to share that on linkedin but its only coming up as the home page

I see what you mean but I'm at a loss right now why it would be a problem on your site but work fine on mine, both are 4.1.5. It appears limited to CMS Articles.

If you turn off "force standard url" that should fix it for now until I figure it out.

Remove "add" ?? I don't know what that means. :confused:

You can disable as many or as few share options as you want, so yes it is possible to use just +1 and tweet.

that's what I figured was the issue with the Google Button. Weird that it gives me the most trouble on Firefox on Vista but not on Windows 7.

I tried to left justify and the same issue. There are times that the Google+ button shows up but it's very inconsistent. The Facebook buttons never shows

I ended up fixing this issue. For some strange reason when i had upgraded the forum software, the Headinclude template didn't quite overwrite like the others and there was some left over code in there that caused a conflict with this along with having no buttons in my Editor in Edit mode.

Other than that, Mod works great and a was a huge need for those of us competing against Blogs.

I do hjave a question... where can I edit the color for the text to the Facebook "Be the first of your friends to like this"? Black on black isn't working too well for me :D

In the mod options you can switch to the "dark" style for Facebook buttons or if you only want to do it in one (or more) templates then edit the more_share_options template.

Find all instances of:
colorscheme="{vb:raw boplord}"
and change to
colorscheme="dark"

The dark style will work better on dark pages. Light and dark are the only options Facebook offers.

You would need to make (or edit) a plugin to register $more_share_options on an arcade template, and then edit the specific arcade template and add the code {vb:raw more_share_options} to the template where you want the buttons to appear.

Look at the plugin More Share Options Plugin - in the middle- you'll see the code I used to register it on the existing templates.

The Facebook isn't showing in AddThis because you already have the Facebook Like button enabled. It is a feature of this mod to NOT show any service in AddThis that you already have a dedicated button showing for on the page- this includes Twitter, Digg, and the others too.

Thank you very much for your instruction. Because of Facebook Like is different with facbook share so I only need Facebook Share to show and I only removed this code:

Now the Facebook Share showed and works like a charm on my site.

It's different depending on whether you are a facebook member and how many people like it. so you really shouldn't be changing the size. I suggest using the button-count style if you don't like the spacing on the "standard" button.

If you want to edit the size anyway edit the more_share_options template... find the code:

It works fine using Google Chrome and Safari. I try not to use IE for much, so it does seem isolated to Firefox and according to a couple of other vBulletin sites i came across doing a Google search and having this issue, it seems to be a matter of firefox and the google +1 and also Google is trying to up it's speed of the button as well.

I do thank ya for taking a look and also answering my question about having the updated google code. I didn't think it was your fault at all

It doesn't add the buzz botton, but if you click on "AddThis" button Buzz is one of the options.

Minor update released today, no new buttons. But I finally got the Google +1 button to behave nicely and resize so I was able to move it back to it's proper location before "AddThis" instead of at the very end.

The buttons now line up better with the page content because there isn't the need for a lot of blank space to the right of the +1 button.

I am running vbulletin 4.1.5 Pl1 and I have a fixed style and i have two problems in the alignment and spacing of icons in WGO. Please see attached images.

The problem is you have too many buttons for the width of your style, you're going to need to either reduce the number of buttons or increase the available width.

WGO box spacing is not as nice as everywhere else, that's just the way it is unfortunately. That's why I built in options for locations other than the WGO box. There has to be other HTML interfering with the box, something that's part of vBulletin. The code in the WGO box is the exact same as everywhere else but doesn't space right.

I have the count turned off for Tweet and Google +1 in the screenshot. If you disable the counts for them it will help.

Upgrade instructions are in the zip but if upgrading from 2.5 to 2.51 you just need to import the product file, allow overwrite set to yes.

If you customized your template you will want to revert it- the only change was in the template so without reverting there is no point in upgrading.

This is definitely not a required upgrade. It will only be useful for people who want the Google +1 button in the middle of other buttons and not at the very end. It may sound trivial but it was my biggest complaint with my own mod. :D

Assuming you have an older version of vBulletin 4.x because on newer versions the language is set by vBulletin itself- that is your "Like" button should already have been in Spanish before this was installed.

Edit the template more_share_options

find the line:

e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js';

And change "en_US" to whatever the code is for spanish, I don't know what it is off-hand. You can find it probably from Facebook itself: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/

Thing is, on 4.1.5 CMS the icons get squeezed on certain pages so the Share icon / feature gets hidden.

If I move the Share icon, it does not have any space between it and the icons I put it next to.

Also, the Google button takes up too much space (I have the count this off).

You would have to make edits to the template more_share_options if you want to change the spacing and such. I do not officially support such changes but you are free to try them on your own.

My "official" solution would be to use less share boxes, or use the box-count option on facebook which makes it less wide.

No, you can't show the zero, that is the way Facebook makes it- no choice.

I don't know of any way to add additional hash tags with twitter, the only options are your username and an additional account.

Do you have the "Use Standard URL" option set to yes? This is one of reasons that option is there. Without it each page of a thread is a unique URL and will have its own count.

If it's not working on threads, blogs, and/or CMS articles you must make sure the built in Facebook button is working first before you attempt to use this mod. You must enable these in the built-in Facebook Options.

Before this mod is active you need to have the built in Facebook Like button working on your pages.

If you notice once you actually tweet the URL is replaced with a short one... At least it is for me.

But to answer your question, no, I have no way of making it work with anything else- this is what Twitter has built in.

I googled "Addany" because I never heard of it and nothing of value comes up- certainly no share sites. :confused:

I'd consider it but I see some of the biggest sites in the world using AddThis... how does it hurt SEO? It's just a javascript, no different than any other share javascript- it probably gets ignored by googlebot anyway.

Version 2.6 Has Now Been Released

Version 2.6 now includes 2 Reddit button options, center justification of the buttons options, and a fix to a bug in the width of the Google +1 button when the counter was disabled.

Version 2.6 also marks the release of a Gold version of this mod with premium features including the ability to add new buttons easily via the Admin CP.

Going forward the Free/Light version will only see bug fixes.

I don't see any "privacy options" available when creating the buttons and the very purpose of the buttons IS to send data to Facebook and Google- that's the point of the buttons. I really don't see that as a problem, it is working as designed- but there are other share locations available on that page if you don't like it,

If you want to keep it where it is AND lower the sideblock you would need to manually edit your FORUMHOME template or sidebar css code. There are many ways to do this but one that should work is-

If you want to bring the share buttons lower you can edit the more_share_options template.

add a <br /> tag to the very top of the template.

That will lower it in all locations though so if you just want to do forumhome:

At the very top line of the template. Add more <br />'s if you want additional room.

Facebook is under a lot of scrutiny, especially in the EU. Facebook uses the like button, not only to send the thread to facebook, but it also gathers information on all the forum users that open a page with a like button on it. Because the like button is on many websites, facebook also tracks the behavior of users across the internet and profiles users by placing cookies and by tracking IPs. Not only if someone is logged into facebook, but also if users are logged out or even if users do not have a facebook profile at all, they are getting profiled. If you visit a forum (with facebook like buttons) about a specific topic, then the facebook advertising system will start showing you adds that relate to that topic. Even if the topic is delicate, controversial, adult or otherwise private.

This is a large concern for authorities, internet users and webmasters. Its not without reason that many webmasters will not install a facebook like or facebook login function.

By default there are no privacy functions available, because facebook, etc want to keep data mining. Privacy functions can only be coded. And thats what I am requesting from you. It should be possible to keep the functionality to send threads to facebook(like) etc, while blocking data mining functions.

For example: isn't it possible to only load the script once someone clicks the like button? Im sure people would find such privacy functions very attractive.

I hope that I have explained it a bit clearer.

When you explain it that way yes I suppose it is possible to not "activate" any of the facebook javascripts until a user opts-in to see it...

HOWEVER that would defeat a major feature which would be showing the # of likes or shares to everyone even if they don't click on it at all.

On my live forum I have coded a way using a custom profile field to let users who don't like "share" buttons turn them all off forumwide... It's a relatively easy thing to accomplish if you know anything about custom profile fields and basic php conditionals... But it is a PITA to explain to someone who doesn't.

Let me think about this... I think I could combine some code from my Signature Ignore System (http://www.qapla.com/mods/forumdisplay.php/20-Signature-Ignore-System-20) mod which lets users opt-out of seeing specific signatures, into this to let users opt out from seeing the share buttons in this mod- so if you have users who hate to see facebook and other sharing code they can disable it completely.

I'm not going to confirm I will add this, but it does sound interesting to me, will strongly consider it.

Might be possible, don't know- but I do know none of that is going to happen by me. I'm not trying to re-invent the facebook like button, this mod is for people who want MORE share buttons. I really don't care about facebook tracking... I don't see targeted ads as a bad thing.

Form pages (forumdisplay) is not an option on this mod.

The Choose Forums option is to choose which forums threads the mod will display on. For example you might not want to show it on threads in private forums.

What version of VB are you using? If it's a more recent version the language is not controlled by my mod but by vBulletin settings.

The language in the template will only work for VB versions below 4.1.2. It doesn't even get used for 4.1.2 and above.

You need to edit the template facebook_footer.

Find the line:

Up until now I haven't used a Facebook ap - didn't understand the whole process. However have now created a Facebook ap and entered the details and the Facebook button is working again.

When I click on the "Twitter" link the url is partially changed for some reason (it removes /forums, which totally f's it up). In other words, every time I use the share on twitter link, I have to add in /forums into the url in the correct spot for it to work.

For any reason the Like-Button on Forumhome doesn`t work if Users or Moderators click on it.
It shows ERROR! at the right side of the Button. By a click on ERROR! a Facebook-Message like "This site is closed or not viewable" shows up.

For me as Admin the Button works. I`m using latest Mod 2.6 with vB4.1.5.
I would be glad to solve this Problem.

Sorry MayerZwo... There's nothing I can do about it- it appears to be a bug with Facebook.

If you just want a Facebook like button on your forumhome this mod was overkill anyway.

Simply go here (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/) , fill out the form, get your code, and paste it into your FORUMHOME template, wherever you want.

To uninstall the mod simply choose "uninstall" from the drop down menu in product manager.

To verify it was uninstalled go to your plugin manager and make sure no plugins exist for it.

Go to your templates and make sure the template more_share_options doesn't exist.

How do I align one more share button properly? When I try to add the Orkut Share code in the more_share_options, the button always appears on top of the already aligned share buttons like FB, Tweet, +1.

You would have to look at the existing code and copy the html. It can be done if you're good with HTML but I don't support this type of modifying of the mod. The Gold version of this mod has the option to easily add additional share buttons.

I am using 4.1.7 PL 2. This is not working on any of the 4 vbulletin 4.1.7 forums I am running, but it USED TO!

Facebook platform IS enabled, and the like button is enabled in threads. Now, I do not have a facebook application id. Could that be the issue? Just upgraded another forum from 3.8 to 4.1 today, and same issue.

Another question. Maybe its the lack of sleep, but why would this work in some threads, and not in others? For example, compare these two threads on the same site:

The second link is not viewable to guests. As of 4.1.7 vBulletin no longer loads the facebook like button for any forums not viewable to guests- as a result none of the share buttons will show- so that is working as expected.

And yes, I think you need the facebook app id now as well.

Hmmm. Ok, didnt realize our suggestion forum was non-public. Must have been changed by one of the admins. Thanks on that.

And ok, I'll go make a facebook app id and see if that fixes it. If so, u may wanna make a note next to the option in the config that they will need the app id in order to use the facebook buttons. ill let u know if it works, either way.

No the count does not seem to work on *SOME* forums, same as it has been.

Also I see that the "squished" look is the actual new look Twitter is using. Even using the default code at: http://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons#tweet - the button looks exactly the same if you uncheck the "Show Count" box- so I don't think there is anything I can do to fix the look- it is how Twitter intends to make it look.

I just installed the mod within my 4.1.7 Suite and everything seems to work fine. Except the facebook function. If I click the "I like" button it's working fine but I cannot "dislike it" and the message at Facebook is my domain with the additional information "vBulletin 4 Suite" below the domain. The logo is alway a picture from the latest CMS News in spite of the fact I clicked on the button at forumhome.

Any idea for me to support? Thanks a lot!

You should replace the vBulletin logo with a custom logo/title image anyway. Upload or create your image and then go to Admin CP -> Style Manager -> Your Style -> Style Vars Editor and put the path for the new logo into the stylevar Image Paths -> titleimage.

It may take some time for Google to pick up the new image... (hours, maybe days.)

There is no option in the mod to do this. I don't know the details of how Google+ works, you could Google for more info I guess. I know Facebook allows you to add HTML code to the header to force it to use an image, I'd assume Google+ has something like this.

I can't imagine it will ever work right with a mobile style, you should use the option Disable In These Styles to disable it completely in mobile.

If you want a Facebook option in mobile I'd suggest manually adding facebook like button code to the mobile showthread template.

This mod is not designed for mobile templates.

I'm getting a similar problem in 4.1.10. My forum is centre justified ... while the thread is loading there is another half a page, blank space, out to the right of the page. Once the page finishes loading this does disappear, and the page just fills out the width of the browser.

This happens in firefox, ad the site is marathonstadium.com is anybody wants to have a look at it.

Disabling this mod fixes the problem. And I am using the latest version of the mod.

It's not the biggest problem in the world, but it would be nice to fix.
