One more question. I've got a keyword that i need to link that is basically a three letter abbreviation. Unfortunately, it is also a set of letters that commonly appear in other words. Is there a way I can cause them to auto-link when they are standing alone (surrounded by spaces) but now when found inside another word. I tried adding a space before and after the 3 letters in my word list but it didn't make any difference.

I found the answer to this. Just in case any one else out there is as blind as I am. The answer is in enabling the option "match whole words only".

Still wondering if there is a way to make the links carry over into mobile readers like Tapatalk.

Unfortunately no way to make it work on Tapatalk without editing tapatalk files that I know of. They need to figure out how to enable the postbit_display_complete hook- they have been adding in vBulletin hooks over time but no idea if they will ever bring that one in... it's not n 3.6.3 as far as I can see.

Hejo, great Plugin but got some trouble. Everything is installed fine, the thanks/like statistic in posts work, the admincp work, just there is no thanks button in the posts to thank ?o maybe check http://www.raptor-board.net ... any ideas?

Can you post the list of keywords you are linking to? My guess is one of them is conflicting with the thanks button.

Max Number Of Links Per Word Per Post is 2.
Max Number Of Links Per Page is 4

But it keeps linking all the word that has been set. It link more than 2 and 4 words.

Note the setting says:

This will attempt to limit the number of links generated per SHOWTHREAD page. (Works for Posts only). Unlike the above setting this will limit the TOTAL number of links so it's best used in conjunction with the limit per keyword above. This is not an ABSOLUTE limit- it will prevent keywords in additional posts after the limit has been reached. If the limit is reached within a single post it will still link additional keywords within that post. Enter 0 for unlimited links.

It is not intended to be an absolute limit. If you have 5 different keywords in the same post they all get linked.

Hey, BOP - first, I LOVE this mod. Works great for us. We have about 15-20 sponsors and we word link each of their names. The URL's include our affiliate ID's - it's perfect for that use case.

What I'm looking for is a way to notify a sponsor when their name is linked. So if someone typed "I love Sponsor1 because of x, y, z..." not only would Sponsor1 include our affiliate link, but Sponsor1 would get notified (email or PM, or something) that someone mentioned their name on the forum.

Is it possible? I know there are other @mention type mods, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Would gladly pay!

works with 4.2.1, but I still can't use it because it overwrites existing URLs and I don't want members to get upset that I'm replacing their links with my own.

It appears to only happens in multiple word links.

For example, the below is a text link from a member

"selling boat supplies"

I then create a word link for

"boat supplies"

The URL for the "selling" text remains the same, but the "boat supplies" URL is overwritten with the new URL I added.

If you can make it so no existing links are overwritten that would be awesome. Tagged for future use.

Can this mod be used to hyperlink all words in posts that are contained in the tag lists? Think that would be great to get more traffic on otherwise untrafficed posts. IE, if I saw the word in a post that was hyperlinked to the thread list page of a tag that is in my database.

That file does exist in the zip, please ensure that the file, functions_bop_wordlinks is in your includes folder.

You need to upload the file from the .zip file to your server, the file functions_bop_wordlinks.php needs to wind up in your /includes/ folder.

Yes, in the mods setting choose - Enable Custom CSS? to YES.

Then in your additional.css template add some custom css for the element boplink. There are examples in the instruction/readme text file.

Not exactly sure your question. In the mod settings is the option - Disable For Specified Usergroups - where you can hide the links to specific usergroups, including guests.

One other little annoyance that I noticed. If the keyword is already within a link then this mod will erase that link and enter the one in the definition. I can see where this would be useful in some cases, but for my purposes I would like to keep the link that I entered. Any easy workaround for to do this?

I'm testing it and i have a little problem with some words. Words finishing with accent were not automatically linked (for example "gravit?", "novit?" ecc). Other words with accent inside has no problems (example: "Attivit? solare").

After a bit of debug, i see the words "gravit?" correctly inside arrays:
$bop_find_array and
$bop_replace_array

but the links were not generated, nor span tags etc... the words with accent at the end were simply ignored.

Any ideas?

I imagine it has to do with regular expressions and character encoding- unfortunately I don't know how to fix the issue. The issue has been mentioned in comments on php.net but there's no easy fix.

Well if you link to Amazon, eBay, or anywhere Skimlinks has a deal with they will automatically turn these links into affiliate links just like any other links on your forum.

Yes it does.

To be sure-

Make a new thread or reload a page if making a quick reply (skimlinks only works on links already on the page when the original page was generated- a limitation of the javascript)

Right click on an Amazon link, choose "Copy link URL" or "Copy Link Location" - whatever your browser has.

Now paste that link text into notepad, or some other text editor, or even just a text box on your forum....

rather than the simple http://www.amazon.com link you will have a very long URL that has the skimlinks affiliate code in it.

Note- this long URL is only visible by copying/pasting the URL. Mousing-over the URL will show the regular/original URL.

I think you have misunderstood...

This mod works fine with Skimlinks.

Regardless of this mod being installed Smimlinks has a limitation that it will not work on any posts added by quick-reply (added by ajax) until the page is reloaded.

In normal operating of your forum only the person posting the link would ever see the link before the page reloaded, there is very little actual traffic that might be affected.

I only brought it up because if you are testing the link as I suggested you might try to test a link you posted via quick reply, and I wanted you (or anyone testing) to understand why it may not work for you in that one case.

You know what you could do- and in fact I do on most domains- use the Skimlinks URL shortener to create an affiliate link to Amazon and your other sites, then use that short URL as the URL in Word Links- this was the user clicks on Amazon and they go to http://buyth.at/j9ty2 (or whatever your short URL is.) Then you wouldn't need worry about changing the skimlinks integration and it would even work with people who block javascript.

It maybe your browser or maybe an extension you have? If you have adblock or the skimlinks editor installed on your browser it may be blocking the js code.

I had to disable the skimlinks editor to confirm it was working, and it is.

When i right click on the Amazon link i get this URL-

Thanks for this very good mod. I might purchase the Gold version to be able to use it on the CMS as well.
I have a little issue though:
For words with accentuated letters it doesn't seem to work when I use a csv file.
Both database and csv files are saved with Unicode UTF-8 settings.

It does work when not using a csv file.
Any advice on how this could be fixed? (I have a list of 175 words and prefer to use the csv method).

In your Language Manager for your language, in settings, what is the HTML Character Set set to? If it isn't UTF8 I would try encoding the csv file the same as this setting.

OK, now is your database latin or utf8? If utf8 is the utf8 line enabled in your config.php file?

Also- Are links stored in a csv file or directly in the mod settings data boxes?

After removing all Greek words from Words/Phrases To Link everything works ok.
So this is a combination of non-English characters with php 5.4?

As of php 5.4 default encoding for htmlspecialchars is UTF-8.
So if your forum is in another encoding (like ISO-8859-1 which is mine) then you will have all the above problems.
The solution is to use your encoding with htmlspecialchar:

First Define your encoding:

define('REPLACE_FLAGS', ENT_COMPAT | ENT_XHTML);


And then replace


$bopfind = preg_quote (htmlspecialchars($bopfind));


with

the mod works fine with english words but i cant make it work on hebrew words.

How many words do you have setup? If itis hundreds (or more) it may be too much for your server to handle.

If you only have a few it could be something too short it's being matched too often or maybe you have an unbalanced number of keywords vs links?

Try removing all your keywords and links and replacing with just one keyword/link and see if you get the same error.

In this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=317717) post you made about your problem you posted in vb5 but this plugin is for vb4 so either you posted in the wrong section but if you are running vb5 then this plugin will not work for vb5 as its for vb4 so remove it would be your best option

I'm sorry I can't support non-latin character sets, I just don't know how they work.

But looking at the description you could just try replacing htmlspecialchars with htmlentities in the code- the function should work the same way,

OK, htmlentities is not going to work then.

Create a new plugin on the global_bootstrap_init_start hook with an execution order of 3.

well as per htmlentities() description (http://php.net/manual/en/function.htmlentities.php), it do NOT support czech charsets (ISO 8859-2, Windows-1250, UTF-8)
only UTF-8, but im unsure why then links are not added to words when they contain some of ě?čř????? characters.. so there is no way to modiffy

How about making this for vb 5 - vb5 is the wave of the future!

I was stuck in vb3 for years but now that I've upgraded to vb5 over all I am glad I made the move.

By the way, when I was using vb3 and vbseo, there was a feature in vbseo that did this called "vbSEO acronym expander." But back then vbseo had to modify their code for me so that it worked for HTTPS (not just HTTP) urls.

So I dunno, maybe that is the key to how to address this problem for vb5 too.

In any case, this would be a great mod for vb5 - to allow the changing of select words automatically as they appear in all posts into hyperlinks.

and save it...


Then you need to edit the Word Links mod settings. At the bottom of the settings the option called Custom Regex

And if all works then you should be able to write

I don't really seem to make this work at all. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.
I tried any option possible. I uploaded the file to includes folder and tried both the csv file and without it. It just won't work. I tried every option on the Config->Options->Word Link section and nothing happens.

The keywords I activated are Amazon and eBay. Both case sensitive. I also tried the default csv example file, with no success.

Yes you can, you need to enable the custom css option in the settings and then create the CSS to use in the additional.css template. I believe there is an example in the readme file.

Assuming you have case-insensitive turned on then just use: viaggi sicuri

But make sure it is above any instances of viaggi or sicuri alone on the list.

If you have case-sensitive then you can make as many variations as you want just all set to go to the same URL.

You need to upload the file to the correct location. It's saying functions_bop_wordlinks.php is not in the /includes/ folder.

One of my members' reports:
It does this whenever it sees a set of words associated with an existing wiki page or pages.. I could say something like Leopard in those forums, and the word would be auto-linked to the Wizard101 Central Wiki page. It also notes that in the bottom of the post, right above the signature. Go back to the thread, every quote has <strong> and has at least one Wiki auto-link within.

VB4 is unsafe because it doesn't run (as far as I'm aware) on an supported version of PHP. Since there is no supported (by the PHP group) version it runs on, there are going to be, if not already, security holes that will not get pathed.

I don't mind releasing other "gold" formally paid for mods, as needed, as requested basis. I don't have time to upload everyone I ever made.

For those that have not yet adapted, and want to keep current, all they need is a PHP developer as you do not need any vBulletin experience to fix the compatibility issues. Just need access to the server's log files. This will be more of an increasing problem in the near future as hosting services move to update their out dated systems. For those on private/dedicated servers YMMV.

My site has already been adapted to and is currently running on PHP 7.4.13 with MariaDB 10.5.8 There have been various other core file modifications as well to increase overall security.

If you would like, I am willing to host your files or work on uploading everything here. We can discuss the best way to allow for their distribution here on .org if you want.
