Hi all :)

Please help.

My password recovery is not working correctly, it won't even attempt to send me an email.

Attached is a picture of what it keeps giving me.

I have enabled email for (guests / not logged in users) & i have tested my email setup in admin maintenance etc & it sends me an email with no issues.

Any advice or pointers on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

why would you enable for guests?..

In an ideal world i wouldn't, BUT as the attachment plainly shows

(It is demanding to be turned on)

All i want is for my (Garbage) VB4 forum to allow members to send themselves a new password if they need to.

I Really wish i had never upgraded to VB4 as i miss my old VB3.8 so much, it was Never as much hassle as i have had with VB4

Guests are not registered therefore there would be no e-mail address for vb to send it to ???

All i need is for (Somebody) who actually knows what they are talking about to (Tell) me what is wrong with my forum settings & what i need to reset & or fix etc.

The comments are all well & good but its not actually helping.

Its Really simple.

A "Member" forgets their password & they click the following link.

http://www.imagehost.cz/images/rp4rbcwfyuwr03g27rhv.jpg (http://www.imagehost.cz/)

They then fill in "Their" email, Obviously the one they used to register.

And "THIS" is what they get ?

Obviously i AM losing members as it is "Impossible" for them to get a Password Reset Email & its "Impossible" for them to get into the forum or even contact me to tell me they have a problem.

I haven't a clue how long this has been going on & its driving me nuts, I only discovered there was a problem when one of my moderators forgot their password & fortunately he contacted me on Msn messenger to tell me he couldn't log in.

do you have AdminCP > Settings > Options > email options > enable email features set to Yes?

Does your email work? Try maintenance > diagnostics > email.

Hi Lynne

If you read my very first post you will see i answered these questions already.

But to confirm: (YES) to both questions.

It is turned on in acp admin options & i generated a test email & it came through with no problems at all.

Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Hi Lynne

Much appreciated, :)

I now know its definitely one of my plugins, now i just have the fun task of disabling & re'enabling each one until i find the one that's malfunctioning.

Thanks again :)
