Article summary length

I'd like to increase the length of the article summary displayed on the CMS homepage.

VB takes the first x characters of an article and displays it as a summary. For whatever reason I need x + y characters.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

So, you need more than the default length that you set in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Content Management ?
