What is vBulletin-Yellow Pages with advertising management?

This addon is a comfortable system for Yellow Pages with the opportunity to manage those entries within the forum as advertisements. Some of the functions are:

Moderated entries possible
Additional images in front of categories and subcategories
Uses the vBulletin integrated search
vBulletin standards for settings and permissions
Supports vB-SEO and vB-CMS
Optional entryfields in categories
Facebook-Integration
Thumbnail-Service, link- and banner usage possible
Google Maps
Additional images for specific entries possible
Uses the comment system
Rate entries
Widgets supported within the vB-CMS of vBulletin Suite
Uses vBulletin given positions to place advertisements of the entries within the forum

Installation:

- Upload all files in 'upload' to your server

- set 0777 permission to the following directory:

/vbyellowpage/backup

- Import 'product-vbyellowpage.xml' in AdminCP

Afterwards import the 'product-vbyellowpage.xml' in admincp.

Then define the general settings in admincp and the usergroup persmission.
Also check the administrator permissions.

Now you can can create categories with additional settings (e.g. entryfields).Optional k?nnen jetzt die Funktionen f?r Google Maps, Premium-Eintr?ge oder Thumbnail-Service etc. eingerichtet werden.

It is recommended to use TMS. If you dont use TMS you need to do the template modifications by your own, have a look at the '/template_modification'-folder within the product file for this.

Hm, I wouldn't bet on it but you can try in a test forum with 4.0.3 thou... I developed it using 4.1.0 PL2 and I know that there aint no problems using this addon from uo to 4.0.8.

But as we know there have been some changes in the versions of the 4.0.x-series with templates, stylevars etc....

Well, yellow pages is a business directory with/for commercial entries. That's what this addon is there for. In combination with the possibility of using the entries with the build in advertisement manager the user is able to even advertise the (commercial) entries all over the forum; or even sell positions in his forum to companies in order to place their ads in the forum.

Sorry, but vBulletin doesn't support external mods which works with URLs like this addon. I was struggling around with it allready, even the officials had no idea how to handle that as vB isnt build for that yet.

It looks similar by optic but is not the replacement to the "Link Directory". Both addons have different aims; the link directory is a 'usual' linklist which this is a commercial list with specific options and functions for commercial wishes of either the boardowner or even the ad-partner.

Actually if you dont do the template-modifications, you will not have a problem with the mod at all. The only thing missing is, that you wont be able place the global ads in the premium service. Thats it, the rest works without problems. :)

Doing the template modifications is quite easy, look:

In template footer look for the following text:

Another general question, if you install a mod, then uninstall it. Does the uninstall remove all the database entries as well?

For instance. I installed this mod. Then uninstalled cause I want to wait to do a full backup before I start messing with it. After I uninstalled I went in my database and searched for "vbyellowpage" and found entries still there, so I deleted them all.

What does this mod's install, leave behind in the database after uninstalling? I want to go in an make sure it is 100% deleted out of database, like "before install condition".

Not yet, but it makes sense. I'll think about it.

If you want to use the widget, then you need to upload the /vbyellowpage folder within the vBulletin-CMS folder. Afterwards you'll find the 'widget_premium_add_banner.php'-file in /vbyellowpage/widgets/ folder in your forum root.

You can either user Wimpex (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231154) from Coroner to import the widget or create a widget by your own which is more safe in case you already have additional widgets installed as Wimpex overwrites the wimpex id by import.

If the addon is installed, all changes in the database will be removed after uninstall for sure. Make sure you habe a correct installation of the product file.

Adding the widget:

Admincp -> 'vBulletin CMS' -> 'Widgets' -> 'Create new widget'

Widget type: PHP Direct Execution
Title: Yellow Pages
Description: Shows random premioum entries from vBulletin-Yellow Pages in CMS

Then 'Save' the widget and you'll see the list with the widgets alreday available in your forum. At the right side from 'Yellow Pages' you klick 'Configre' and enter the follwing information:

'Enter Php Code, in the form "$results = "':
global $vbulletin, $vbphrases, $show, $stylevar;
include(DIR . "/vbyellowpage/widgets/widget_premium_add_banner.php");
Template Name: widget_premium_add_banner
Cache refresh time (minutes): 5

Then 'Save' the configuration. The file to include (DIR . "/vbyellowpage/widgets/widget_premium_add_banner.php") can be found in the vBulletin-CMS folder in the ZIP-file to this product.

Now you can place the widget with the Layout Manager.

Is posible make a category search which include a extra fields (of category) options. This is like a search in which you put category and options and then, it return the results. I search like a microClasiffieds.

Thus, I think that is good offer the posibity to show more information (even images) in template displaythreat and not only advertising´s title. Not all information in first post of threat.

I think too that will be important the pay option for de advertisers (Paypal or other)

Also in the catagory main section it shows I have a entry under a certain section, if I go to that section it shows the entry but also shows a web address in brackets in the title how can I remove this web address.

Lastly, if I click on the catagory alphabet listing above this specific entry and go to the same section if shows no entries listed under that section when I actually have one, any ideas??

Well, it then shows all the entries which start with the character you habe choosen. The rest of the entries dont get shown then.

seems to be connected to the three check box's at the bottom of setting up a category, must need something , is gone when i unchecked them all

title then
postal address for google
and link are not aligned with the right entry box's
and took me a minute to figure out way they didn't work seems like title to be pushed down with the rest instead of being on top

The phrase 'vbyellowpage_show_additional_entryfieldinfos' contains the 'addtional informations'-text, so you can simply change the phrase to whatever you like it.

If you change the template 'vbyellowpage_entryfieldbits' you can bold the entryfield title (if the style lets you do that) by using <strong></strong>. There you can also add the additional blank space using <br /> if needed.

2. Line 2068: $entry['googlemap'] = htmlentities($entry['googlemap']); - function doesn’t work properly with polish characters

This is a cool mod, But I was wondering If it would be possible to add a business category drop down that we could configure in settings with what category we want to use. because user only have one option for searching in yellow pages-by -alphabet- so they list I don't know I guess if a person listed Bob's Tires and you searched for tires , would it find it ?

I am using your system to advertise peoples venues so the uploaded pictures are necessary.

sorry that don't explain the bug, just saying what i had happen, and what i did to stop the error if you say its compatible with 4.1.2 then I guess it is. But all i can do is uninstall it. since it seems to have some issue with the upgrade on my board

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH as soon as i click a link in the rss and then go back and try and open the rss again with the link icon it throws the error again. then ..I went in and just pasted <?php in line one. in /includes/class_blog_entry.php and saved it and it works again till i clcick a link in rss and then go back and try and open the rss again with the link icon it throw the error again

Sorry, but that has nothing to do with the addon. The addon doesnt effect the blog at all, there ist not one line concerning any blog routines or whatever. Just open the case in JIRA and let the stuff search for the fault, the addon is not responsible.

This message says that you didnt upload all the files that came with the addon. Just upload all the files and the message disappears. Then the rest you are talking about is working fine, too.

Ok I tried again and still get the error. This is what I did on FTP to my www root

1. The first image I opened the folder
2. The next image I upload or FTP all those files to my root of the forum www
3. I then imported this file into my "Import Product" in admin cp
4. I then opened up the CMS folder
5. This folder I also FTP to my root www

So now I have no idea why I am still getting these errors as above post :confused:

Well, honestly it's quite easy for me to implement this function by using the standard attachment system from vBulletin. But is it seriously needed? :confused:

Nop, I just looked and I have two of Vossi's files (one from other mod) there ..

class_dm_vbyellowpage_entry.php

I assume the only think I have to do is click on where I want the ads to appear in other places in the forums and provide a JPG for the mod to use?

Just a thought here, I modified my own install to make more sense.

I finally noticed the place to specify the banner under Premium that has to be in the directory "/images/vbyellowpage/banner". But on the other hand you already have a spot to specify the banner location on the Entry Page, which is nice if you are using off site banners OR have ad management software for other parts of your site. So I modified the Template "vbyellowpage_premium_forum" feel free to use this code if you like. This way there is no need to have multiple copies of banners everywhere.

bit confused about images, I have managed to get them to show when I insert images and it comes up in the post when creating the ad. However when you save it all you see is the link and not the image, how do I get the image to show in the finished listing and not just the link. Also Google maps only seems to work for certain listings not sure why as address is 100% correct.

Thank you for this mod, I have been looking for something just like this. I do however require being able to upload images as remotely hosted Images can be maliciously altered or disappear, I prefer to maintain control by hosting them myself.
I see some of my questions may have been answered I am going back to do the template edits.

I have thought so myself, at present I am setting this up as a user submission format and a duplicate tree for premium listings. Entering the directory tree into sections was a PITA with vb 4.13 there is no way to import data and each section you enter lands you on a sub page with no simple way to get back up the tree to continue.
What would be nice is a way to import a data base and Mass tool or two.
I am sure I would pay a developer a premium for this in CMS. and then It would be worth while to pay for a custom mobile app for my local community.

This was posted on the 14th of June. Is there a date that a 4.1.4 compatible working version will be released? If you have given up on this mod, Vossi, please let us know so we may do the same.

For those of you that are using this mod, there is a way around the error. Enter all your info. Before you submit the listing, change to the standard editor instead of the WYSIWYG editor and the listing will go through.

Want to confirm this is a conflicting function name error between the two mods. I suggest the author puts the functions in classes as public static methods to resolve this, or create a utility/function mod and make it a dependency for both the yellow pages and link list mods.

Yep your right it only has part of the package.

Now I’m testing on 4.1.4 and I don't have any major problems. I can create new entry, edit existing one or add comment.
The only problem is to edit a comment. There is no editor window on the page.

What you have to do is change ownership of the listing. It wont let you change it if you are not the owner (Stupid thing in this mod). You can then change the listing ownership back to the original poster.

I can see the database that BB image tag is well saved. So it must be by reading it will be formatted incorrectly. The image should appear as it does in the Editor instead comes only link.

If subcategory was set up, user still can submit post at it's parent category.
Sometimes, category is just category. If use post at it's parent category, whole yellow page

The text that you have entered is too long (3778 characters). Please shorten it to 10 characters long.

The only setting that has a 10 in it is:
Minimum characters of entries

So I made that number 5000 and then I get this error:
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5000 characters.

EDIT: Ok appears to happen because I had maximum characters of entries set to 0 to disable that. HOWEVER now when I submit an entry I get:

Open product-vbyellowpage.xml in a text editor, at the beginng of the code look for

<dependency dependencytype="vbulletin" minversion="4.1.10" maxversion="4.2.0 Alpha 1" />

Change this to

<dependency dependencytype="vbulletin" minversion="4.1.10" maxversion="4.2.2 Alpha 1" />

That should fix your problem.

I set this up yesterday and got this error repeatedly. I finally figured that if I reedit the Field Entry fields for the Categories and get this error. The only way to fix this is too delete the bad Field Entry and to re-add the Entry. Once this is done the error and formating problem will go away.

I am in China so can't seem to get the Google Maps API to work properly.
