There is one included at the moment but it is in a beta stage. If you are going to use it, make sure you test it on a test forum first and backup your data! Not doing so could result in a complete loss of DownloadsII files.

pick your version of vb and import the XML file

All images automatically create a thumbnail of 100x100 :) As for the button, which button are you talking about?

Upload Progress bar is already planned and should be implemented soon enough. I am testing the import script at the moment. You could definitely try it on a test board first and see if that works for you. The reason it is in beta is because I haven't been able to test it as much as I would have liked.

I check my site and everything is fine.

I then go to manage plug isn and import the xml and my site turns to just a list of files.

I'm interested in three of your pro prodicts but not if I can't get them to work with 4.0.8.

What could be causing this?

As soon as I uninstall the xml through manage products my site goes back to normal.

I'm trying to get this site built as soon as I can and I don't want to attempt installing anything else until the download system is in, that way I know what mod is causing the issue. I have no theme as yet and likely won't take one, except for a bit of recolouring.

Can you help with this so that I can let my moderators test the lite one, please?

Updated the zip:

No version change at this time, just some minor bug fixed.

- Module configuration warning should only should up in vbdownloads.php now.
- Fixed a CSS bug
- Fixed a bug in vBShout Integration that caused it to link to the wrong file.

To upgrade just reupload all the files and reimport the product file setting overwrite to yes.

Ahh, I am planning on adding a feature that will allow you to create your own input items in a future version. That will do what you are looking for.

To upgrade -> Just reupload the files.

To import -> Go to your AdminCP and then to Import Utility under the Downloads category.

Upload the following file and run it. That should give you an idea of what your path will look like. Also, make sure the folder you are referencing actually exists.

Doesn't have that ability right now but I'll add it to the feature request list :) The DownloadsII importer is working pretty well at the moment but as someone mentioned, it doesn't import links right now. I'll work on getting that in in the coming days. Flash uploads and sub-categories will also be in fairly soon! Overall we hope this will be a solid replacement for you all!

It is independant from post attachments yes. There isn't a "who downloaded and when" feature currently but it is still early days :)

Downloads are currently folder only. I don't know how well MySQL would handle 50MB files etc so I decided on folder only. The location and name of the folder is entirely configurable however.

well after upgrading, it's not making them at all..

After you download the files, you should see a folder called integration. Open that and install the xml file in the folder via your AdminCP. You should then have the actions available in vBCreditsII.

That should show you the path to your forum.

NOTE: On some Unix variants, getcwd() (the function used in checkdir.php) will return FALSE if any one of the parent directories does not have the readable or search mode set, even if the current directory does.

This will basically allow you to track the time it will take until your files will be uploaded with a progress bar. This is handy for larger files especially.

If your downloads folder is located outside your public_html like db recommends then try:

./downloads for the path

If you intend to keep it in public_html then try:

./public_html/downloads

The first one worked for me.

hmm, I think this would be rather beyond the scope of a downloads mod. It would require image editing tools etc, plus there would be a host of issues from watermarking as well (people wanting to adjust transparency, location etc).

If you know of a simple and easy way to accomplish add ign watermarks to pdfs or editing image files with them etc using JS or PHP please do enlighten us though and we will try to add it.

Can this mod or the pro version work with secondary usergroups?

We like to keep everybody as registered users and then add additional access to forums through additional usergroups but DownloadsII doesn't work with this and it's causing major headaches for us.

Post to Thread*** - Allows administrators to select which forums they would like new threads to go to on a per-category basis with configurable messages.

Delay Downloads*** - This will allow you to add a delay to downloads per usergroup. For example, if you put a 10 second delay on the Registered Users usergroup, when they click a file they will need to wait 10 seconds before it is available. There is also an optional advertisement option that is configurable in the vBulletin Options section of your administration panel.

Category Images - This will remove the default text based category names with an image of your choice allow for a much nicer looking downloads homepage.

Searchable Area - This is a central location where users can view all downloads based on a certain criteria. For example, they could view all files based on the amount of downloads they have.

Are you running vb 4.0.8?

There is a known issue with some profile tabs and vB 4.0.8, however the fix would break the functionality in 4.0.7 and below - we're still trying to find a solution that will satisfy both.

this is one thing thats holding me up from upgrading my live site..
vb.com and there css change to the profile tabs..

they screwed up the tabs in my option..

in return has all the tabs for the mods looking bad..

The Thumbnail doesn't appear
also some times when I add link with the file it doesn't work and the file not upload and it show this characters ( < ) only I couldn't find where is the problem.

I tried to add ( docx) extension from the admin but it show already it's there and in fact only doc there ,, so when I try to upload file it say ( Invalid file type found. Please go back. )

We haven't had any users complain about incompatibilities with vBSEO :)

With edits to a template I believe it is possible to have categories show on by one.

The dbtech_downloads.css file contains all the css used within vBDownloads. Editing that should allow you to achieve the desired results.

I cannot speak for other Dragonbyte-Tech mods except for the ones I have developed. In vBDownloads case, the only branding on the mod is a link in the footer on vBDownload pages i.e pages within the vbdownloads.php file. As far as I know, the only mods that add global footer links are the ones that are utilised throughout the forum and have no one specific location (vBOptimise for example). I hope this helps you understand the reasoning behind the location of our branding. I will have Iain follow up on this with a more official response.

Our mods only add footer notes on pages they are displayed =).

If someone owns a few of our pro mods and feels that there are too many links on certain pages, we are always more than happy to give them instructions on how to create a more condensed copyright footer.

Infopanels being over 2 lines was actually an error - it should be fixed in the next hour or so ^.^

We do not feel it is unreasonable for our products to add a copyright footer on pages they are displayed - much as vBulletin itself does, as well as the vast majority of paid modifications.

For people who do not wish to have these footers however, we do sell a branding free option - again much like vBulletin etc.

As above, the 2 lines on infopanels was an error which should be fixed in the next hour or so (should only be one) =)

In the product description for all of our products it lets you know what copyright is displayed and where before you buy =)

In the case of vBDownloads, it adds a copyright footer on pages inside vBDownloads.

Just a couple of things. I just installed this on vb 4.1.2 and have the following issues:

On the individual download page under the files section. The icon image url is trying to point to icon1.gif it should be icon1.png (as of right now it is creating a broken image placeholder).

Next issue is on the main download page (where it shows the categories) under statistics the collapse image url is pointing to http://cdn.dragonbyte-tech.com/images/buttons/collapse_40b.png which is creating a broken image placeholder. Shouldn't this point to an image on our own server?

Third, for some reason when I try and delete a file extension within the admincp, I get an Internal Server Error and it will not allow me to delete it.

We do have functionality in place that will allow for links to be added to an upload but they are not tracked at present. This is something that has been requested quite a bit so we could look at adding this in the future :)

2. Let's now say each month you offer a new download to the deluxe users only. If a user joins the deluxe usergroup in April, would it be possible with this plugin that he only gets the downloads posted each month from april onwards, but not all the previous ones already there?

3. How do you conceal amazon s3 links?

I'm very interested in the "pro" edition but have a few questions:

Does this addon put uploaded files in to individual sub-directories, or throw all files in to a single directory?

Can the upload directory be located somewhere else, say a mapped share on the server?

Can the pro version be set to automatically allow, say, a user the ability to see only the files they upload, or do we have to go and set permissions manually after the fact for each upload?

I'd like to make a private area of the site where customers can upload files to us; for my internal staff it'd be better if they could just browse to a share on the server itself and see a list of customer directories. It'd also be good if it by default restricted downloads/visibility to only the account that uploaded the files. Is this possible?

I'm am investigating the parsing issue right now :) The categorised listings is an interesting suggestion however so we may consider doing that! :)

There are many differences in our version :) For example, we allow for multiple files to be added to one upload and integration with mods such as vBCredits. The Pro version also includes a few nifty features like flash uploading, password-protected uploads and timer based downloads.

1) It is possible to only allow certain usergroups to download files. Usergroup permissions can be set individually for viewing, downloading and uploading per category.

2) I suppose technically this is possible. You could create a Deluxe category and create a new sub-category within that every month although this would take a bit of work!

3) I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. Could you give me further clarity on this?

Based on your screenshots I was expecting to see a button in the navbar like I had for DownloadsII but I see neither any errors nor any button or link for accessing the plugin's functionality. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this further?

You will need to configure each of the modules in the Manage Modules section for Downloads. The navbar button is controlled by the global module. I hope this helps :)

Hi, I just installed this mod on my 4.x board after upgrading from 3.8 (using DownloadsII) but when I go to the "Import Utility" nothing shows up. Did I do something wrong or miss something? I tried using it with both the DownloadsII plugin enabled AND disabled and it didn't change anything.

When I click remove extension in extension manager, i get a page not found cause it tries to go /admincp/downloads.php intead of /admincp/vbdownloads.php
I tried to change the url in browser and refresh. it didn't work. didn't have the time to edit the code yesterday.

I created an entry with two files and description. When browsing, no description was available.

Are you sure you are using the latest version? These sound like issues that were fixed recently. I'll have a look at the files posted here.

There are many differences in our version :) For example, we allow for multiple files to be added to one upload and integration with mods such as vBCredits. The Pro version also includes a few nifty features like flash uploading, password-protected uploads and timer based downloads.

1) It is possible to only allow certain usergroups to download files. Usergroup permissions can be set individually for viewing, downloading and uploading per category.

There is a daily download feature in the pro version of the mod but there is no lifetime limit feature.

From what I see it looks like a great mod :).

However I get an error :(. I am trying to keep the file outside of the public_html

Perhaps it is a simple pathing error.

If I do this I lose the sublinks menu. Any way of keeping the sublinks with the navbar disabled?
