I checked the error and it seems to me coming from the exclude search plugin I have. But the plugin is deactivated and has been for some time. Any help would be great.

hmmmm.... The exclude is definitely still there- maybe you just manually modified the link to add the "&exclude=..." to the URL in the template- that's what I do and the "official" answer if you ever searched vb.com...

In any case the error doesn't have to do with the URL but that the SQL sever can't be found, in this case: sqlc6.megasqlservers.com -that's damn weird because it's obviously the rest of the site is running fine and the sql server is the same throughout... I'd say maybe a mod is messing things up... Turn off your hooks and see if you still have the problem.

Im an idiot.

You were right it was a template edit. I had a plugin and the link edited.

Hey while I have everyone's attention with my novice goof.....

Any ideal why I get a download when I hit a regular button on the site?

For example. If I click home it downloads the index.php or if it try to use the attachment link it downloads attachment.php. Not always just once in a while....

When you say it downloads "attachment.php" what do you mean? Do you get a blank file or do you get the full coding/contents of the attachment.php file? If it's the latter that is an ultra-severe security problem.

I just checked and all are blank files.

OK well that's not too bad... As for why I'm not really sure, I'd imagine it's either a browser issue or maybe your web server is sending the wrong HTTP headers... has anyone else ever reported this happening? Does it only happen on 1 computer/1 browser?

Im trying to find that out now and will report back.

By the way. Thanks for taking your time to help. I wish more would follow your lead.

There's a lot of people asking for help and I know a lot of people who if they aren't 100% certain of every answer to every question they don't want to reply at all because they don't want to flood posts with useless replies... However sometimes just talking out the issue helps, even if you don't know the full solution you might still be able to help... it's a personal preference I guess.

from time to time I have the same problem running FF 3.5 or 3.6 .

Every no and then after it's been running for some time without being closed, and I have a bunch of tabs open I will click a link and get a download of a php file instead of viewing the page.

I haven't checked if it's blank or not because I'm fairly certain that it's a firefox problem and not a vbulletin problem.

Anyone have an ideal whats up with this error. Is it the VB code or a mysql error and I need to call my host.

This seems to be the area of fault.

class_core.php on line 311

"class_core.php on line 311" is the line where the database connection is opened. I don't know a lot about it, but "Unknown MySQL server host" could mean that that's not the correct host name for your database server (although if it only fails sometimes then that's not it). It's probably a general error message for a number of things that could cause the connect to fail.

If 'sqlc6.megasqlservers.com' is the right host for your database server, then I guess you'd have to contact your host and see what they can do.

Does it happen in the same place every time?
