Look at my statistics.

I have over 2,000 members (Since 2008 the site has been up) yet most of them I think are spam sign ups with just people placing links in their signatures.

What can I do to prevent these sign ups in the first place? I have captcha enabled, but that isn't doing anything.

I'm having the same problem on my vB3 forum as well.

Try this: StopForumSpam: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=230921

There are versions for VB3 also.

add an extra question during registration and get Paul's miserable user mod :-)

Thanks. I installed this one and tested the registration and it blocked a blocked email like it should do! Hopefully the database is accurate and extensive. :)

Is there a mod that you can prevent sigs? like until a certain number of posts?

This is what I did.

I disabled sig for users when they first sign up until they make a couple posts, they get automatically upgraded to another user group once they start making post and then are able to edit their signatures afterwards.

You don't need a modification to do this, it is all in the admincp! :) I'm also pretty sure there is a way to prevent people from placing links in their signatures.
