Hello,

I purchased a small program that makes Flash Banners. Once you create the banner, it gives you a .swf file and some html that is supposed to be posted at the location where you want the banner.

I created banner and loaded in in the main forum folder. I then took the html and pasted it into the signature editor and saved it.

I have html enabled for myself (admin).

I thought that would work but it doesn't.

I could sure use some help !:cool::cool:

Thanks for the quick responses, guys.

I should add that I use this same banner under "advertising" in the CP and it works fine. The .swf file is in the main forum directory.

Here is the HTML that I have:

<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"
WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60" id="BMPF-wasabanner.swf">
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="wasabanner.swf">
<PARAM NAME=quality VALUE="high">
<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF>
<PARAM NAME=wmode VALUE=transparent>
<EMBED src="wasabanner.swf" quality="high" bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60"
NAME="BMPF-wasabanner.swf" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
WMODE="transparent"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>
<!-- The following line is only needed once in the html after the last </OBJECT> -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="iefix.js"></script>

Try adding
<script type="text/javascript" src="iefix.js"></script>
In your headinclude and then the rest in your signature ;)

Well, I did it. I added that line to the end of the headerincludes. I added the html to the signature editor and clicked save. I ended up with blanks in the previews. The blanks are adding up (three now for the three times I tried to do it.

Now I don't know how to get rid of the blank previews.

Remove the code from headinclude....i have never tried using html in my sig but im going to try....

Can you send me all the files? In an email? chopsuey at vbdiscussions.com :) i'll see what i can do.

Thanks much. I just sent it.

I now have accumulated four rectangular boxes in the top preview part of the sig section of the cp. How do I get rid of that ? It's the result of me trying to save the html in the editor. Can I erase those blanks somehow?

I've already tried purging the sig cache.

Thanks again.

Err revert the template...

If you mean the "headinclude", I did that. It is reverted. Just double checked.

The sig template or whatever.

You haven't sent me the iefix.js file :p

I apologize. I am seriously ignorant at all of this. I somehow muddle through but I'm a bit slow.

I don't know what an iefix.js file is. No, I didn't even know there was a sig template.

I'm off to find that. Will happily send the iefix.js if I know where/what it was. The flash program only spit out a .swf file and the html.

Where exactly did you get this from? The code and file?

I used a program called Banner Maker Pro for Flash from these guys: http://www.bannermakerproforflash.com/

I put the .swf file in the main forums folder. I then pasted the html under the advertising section of the cp. It runs fine, looks good.

When I try to use it as sig, I get nothing.

Err update the url to point straight to the swf and js file.

Err update the url to point straight to the swf and js file.

Sorry to say that I will need more specific instructions. I did see the reference to the .js file in the html but I have no idea where that file may exist. I don't see it in the forums dir. As far as changing url's, well, I know this sounds stupid but I dont' even see where to do that.

Would you please dumb it down some. Thanks.

Instead of adding it in your sig as html why now use img code?

Regretably that did not work.

Have you tried just using the embed code in your sig? Leave the rest out.

<EMBED src="wasabanner.swf" quality="high" bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60"
NAME="BMPF-wasabanner.swf" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
WMODE="transparent"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</EMBED>

Thank you very much ! That worked. There is still a problem though. The banner shows up with this below it:

NAME="BMPF-wasabanner.swf" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
WMODE="transparent"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">

Oops. Figured that out. Thanks for all of your help.
