What is it?
gXboxLive is a modification for vBulletin which allows you to display a Xbox Live Leaderboard for your users.

Some of my mods rely on fetching data from 3rd party websites, due to the unreliable results, my mods will require users to troubleshoot for themselves if they find the addon is not working for them specifically. Lists all ranked Gamertags, each updated once per day
Optionally show unranked Gamertags (Original Xbox Users).
Optionally allow Xbox Live message sending.
Optionally allow Xbox Live friend requests.
Optionally to choose how many User Names Per Page to display.

Choose how recently users must be active to be displayed.

Limit usergroups to display.

Monitors invalid gamertags, 5 attempts to verify the gamertag and then the users gamertag profile field is blanked to prevent further checks.

Installation

Download the latest version and upload all files. Images go in the folders specific to your style.
Install the product.
Create a Single-Line Text Box User Profile Field for members to enter their Gamertag into.

Go to yourdomain.com/forumdir/admincp/?loc=profilefield.php%3Fdo%3Dadd

Title: Xbox Live Gamertag
Description: Enter your Xbox Live Gamertag
Regular Expression: ^([A-Za-z0-9 ]+)?$ (regex not required)
The rest of the settings is your prefrence.
Save
Look and see what the field id number is for Xbox Live Gamertag, example field25.

Fill in the gXboxLive configuration options, make sure to enter the field id for the newly created Xbox profile field above.

Go to yourdomain.com/forumdir/admincp/?loc=options.php%3Fdo%3Doptions%26dogroup%3Dgxbl_g roup

Send people to their user cp to enter their gamertags.
Wait up a few minutes for the gamertags to appear on the leaderboard.

I do have a few issues, when I click on the tab at the top (the link to gxboxlive.php) it just doesn't go anywhere - my system just takes me to forums.php over and over. I know its working because I can see the stats at the bottom.

I have checked user permissions but there arn't any for this.

Also how can I remove the tab at the top? I would like to put the link in a different menu.

Hey guys, I had the same problem many of you were having with the gxboxlive redirecting to the index and I needed this hack for my signature generator I offer to our users. I just wanted to let you know I got this hack working on my vb4 (which you can see here (http://forums.gamerhandles.com/gxboxlive.php)) by deleting the following bits from gxboxlive.php:

I did get this installed after deleting the old version. I retained all of the account info so I'm good to go. The page in 4.03 looks really screwed up though. I hope this can be fixed at some point. My members are missing this plugin.

Those people have their Game history blocked. Its an xbox live choice, not an issue with this mod. I have one of those also.

Are you getting that on the install? If so it is because your trying to install the gxboxlive.php as a product. You need to install the product-gXboxLive.xml as a product.

Sorry, I should have explained in full. Thats once I edit the file as specified, then click the link in the navbar. Replacing with the original removes the error, but also means the navbar link is just an index link!

Would be great if fyou could find out :).
Apparently although that fix does make it work. Their are left over issues. Heck we're seeing the GXL lists on each post replicated, even for users that don't have an XBL account in their profile.

I vouch for you dude, it do work great. I just wanted to let you know that you did make some small mistakes but it dont affect the function at all.
There are also some edits that should be made too that would make it A LOT better. Too bad the author is MIA! lol

So now we have a 3.8 hack that had to be fixed by users to run in 4.0.3 and now 1/2 of it is turned off in 4.0.4 to make it run and not cause white pages....

This is hardly a vB 4x version.

Well, I've got users mysteriously disappearing from the leaderboard.

If I manually run the cron update task for it, I get the following error:

Looks like there may be a problem with the query.

I added some debug echos to the script, to try figure out what's going on.

I got the resolved query from $main_query, and ran it in phpmyadmin - I get a (correct) list of users.

However the line:

$fullresult = $vbulletin->db->query_read($main_query);

appears to return nothing. Unfortunately I don't know enough about PHP and in particular, the VB api to try figure out what it's supposed to return.

I'll try investigate further, and I'll update this post as I go along.

Ok. Found the way to fix the error:

In the file /forum install/includes/cron/miner.gxboxlive.php
Find:

$querylimit = ceil(mysql_num_rows($fullresult) / ceil((strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+1 day"))) - TIMENOW) / 60) ) + 5;


And change it to:

$querylimit = ceil($vbulletin->db->num_rows($fullresult) / ceil((strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+1 day"))) - TIMENOW) / 60) ) + 5;


That fixes the initial error, but the rest of the script doesn't seem to be working.

Ok, after iterating through the $card_string array, it seems that my server is being rejected - all the cards contain "403 Forbidden". This might indicate why it no longer works.

Thanks to thisgeek, my Xbox Live Leaderboard is now working as intended once again. I had an issue with several disappearing accounts, which was resolved using the fix he posted. Great work!

Ah, good to see double confirmation of what I've discovered. Good work, thisgeek. I confirm that for us vB3.8.x users that the same fix works but I've also made the same recommendation about not hitting the card server frequently for fear of being banned.

Oh - I strongly suggest changing the update cron script to run once an hour instead of every minute. The script running every minute resulted in my server being temporarily banned from querying the cards.

The cron runs every minute but the miner does not contact xbox servers every minute. There are internal timers in the script that will only allow one gamercard to be updated per day and they are spread out over the course of the day. The cron running every minute is to ensure that all gamercards are updated throughout the day, increasing the time will only make it fetch more cards when it does check.

We have the user profile field built for Gamertag and its built correctly because you can see gamercards on site.

The problem is no one is showing up on the leaderboard. If there is a previous fix please show me as the only fix I seen was for a 404 error and we have not encountered that problem. Thanks

In AdminCP:
- Go to "Languages & Phrases"
- Then "Search Phrases" and under "Search for Text", type in "leaderboard"
- gxboxlive_vbnav is what you're looking for.
- Find "leaderboard" and change it to whatever you want.

xbox.com has changed some of there pages and in doing so now the links to send user a message via xbox.com does not work. I looked at the reference sites and all of the author links are working correctly so I know a fix is been put it but we need it updated here.

Thanks a ton man. The only thing that doesnt work for me from your code is the hover over pop up on the gamercard and avatar on the leaderboard. I think it has to do with this code {vb:raw player.gamertag} from gxbl_bit.I dont have any thing that that vb code can pull from. For me the gamercards come from this in the post bit legacy. {vb:raw post.field7}.

I see you went with a dark blue skin now too. Was that with 4.08 style or did you do that before?

Sorry for the double post but the top games are not loading. They are not loading on any of the authors sites either. Is this related to the new dashboard or xbox.com or does this mod need an update? I think the pages never finish loading as they are waiting for images from xbox.com

You can do it under scheduled task under Admin CP. Search for xbox live to run the fetch of updated data. The only thing is we think that this MOD is 1-Abandon and 2-microsoft has ban the query that it tries to run to get the data. My forum xbox leaderboard is completely dead no updating all denial requests when fetching data. I think this is a dead mod.

You didn't read the directions it says you have to manually create a user field look at the top here where it says Installation all the information is in regards to creating the user input field then you put that user input field number into the plugin information.

I have it working on 4.x, as you can see here (http://forums.gamerhandles.com/gxboxlive.php), but out of respect for the original author, I won't release the code. If you really need it now, I guess you can figure it out from the 3.8 version as long as you understand some php.

Also another reason, I'm not going to post the code, is I have people who are viewing this thread, with illegal vbulletins, bothering me on AIM and my website for help with theirs.

He had it fixed for the 3.8 version almost immediately and there isn't much difference between the two versions, as far as the fix is concerned; you can almost copy and paste what he changed from one to the other and fix it for the 4.0. There were a couple of template issues which i've resolved. In the main template (even after revert) the Reputation header was not like the others, it was unformatted, and wasn't able to sort in order etc.

You had the Reputation code as:

So i changed it to:

It needed the blockhead tag to make it appear like the others.


The only thing on mine I haven't got to work is that the reputation comes up as a number, i.e. 20 not the stars image. Haven't figured that one out yet.
Ignore that about the stars, they are gradually appearing as it updates. :up:

Something I just noticed which i'm not sure if was always there as I rarely use IE. When you hover over the avatar bit so that it pops up on the screen, in FireFox it's perfect because it's got a transparent background, but on IE it's got a white background. But as I said I don't know if it was like that before.

I've been trying to figure out how to get Playstation Network information for about a month or so, because I wanted to include it in my gamercard generator. I believe it can be accomplished now, albeit it seems to be far more difficult than the Xbox leaderboard. There are several APIs you can download that allow you to pull PS3 information, such as here (http://psnapi.codeplex.com/), however I do not have a Windows server to run ASPX code.

As for the fix with spaces in names on gxboxlive, I've just replaced the code in gxboxlive.php on line 266:
$player['url_gamertag'] = urlencode($player['gamertag']);with
$player['url_gamertag'] = str_replace(" ","%20",$player['gamertag']);It seems to work for me.

That's because this mod is powered by mygamercard.net and today they announced that they were calling it quits. Mygamercard.net will no longer provide the gamercards.

I don't know if it's anything to do with Xbox themselves but i've been noticing a lot of problems with Xbox Live recently. For example : http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live when you login it's meant to have your avatar in the top right with your gamer score etc. Now it just stays on "Loading" with the sign out button underneath. I've been noticing little things like that increase over the past few weeks.

I could not get the postbit to work. In the "Postbit Info Forum IDs " i have got 0 , I am assuming this means it will show on all forums , is that correct ?

I have seen some forum have a xBoxLive Tab in the member profile page . Is that only for the 3.x Vb mod ?

Just upgraded t0 4.1.3 and tried to install the latest version of gXboxLive and am getting:


ALTER TABLE `gxboxlive`
DROP `id`,
DROP `username`;

MySQL Error : Can't DROP 'id'; check that column/key exists
Error Number : 1091

when I try to import it.

Got it to work. I had mistakenly uploaded an older version earlier in the day and for some reason when I FTP the lastest version it did not overwrite the older files. After uninstalling the mod I removed the older gxboxlive php files and reloaded. Making sure the date time stamp was updated. Then installed the plugin and boom the gamer information showed on the leader board. Yay.

We have the same Problem. Some Users are shown, some not.
The spaces cant be the Problem, my GT has none.

Yes I noticed they weren't updating, uninstalled and re-installed and everything was blank. Since then I've disabled the hack. The last time mine actually had updated was 17th April.

No there's an easier way to check. go to the leaderboard and hover the cursor over any of the scores. It should say the date and time last updated.

Microsoft updated the gamercard code a little bit several days ago. It includes a lot more information, including bio, location, achievements info for each game, but doesn't show any of it on the cards without looking at the source code.

Unlikely, without a code update. Mine hasn't been working either - my users notified me of it.
