How to remove "Quote message in reply?"

I've been trying this for some time and can't figure out how to remove the check box and the "Quote message in reply?" phrase from SHOWTHREAD. When I comment them out, it does something to the form and the message that you post with the quick reply doesn't automatically show up. You have refresh the page.

I'm just wondering why this would happen and if anyone knows how to get rid of this? Since I have the quick reply settings to "Yes, no click required" this part is already un-usable...
