Prior to the 4.0.2 upgrade, I had an RSS Widget installed which called the feed at http://eqquest.com/marketplace_test/rss_featured.php
The result looked like http://www.eqquest.com/proofs/Widget.jpg
The vbcms_widget_rss_page template code was as follows:
<div class="cms_widget">
<div class="block">
<!-- Rss Header -->
<div class="cms_widget_header">
<h3><img src="/marketplace/media/icons/Feed_16x16.png" alt="RSS" /><a href="{vb:raw rsslink}"> {vb:var rsstitle}</a></h3>
</div>
<!-- Rss Data -->
<div class="cms_widget_content">
<vb:comment>
{vb:raw rssdescription}
</vb:comment>
<vb:each from="details" key="id" value="detail">
<div class="cms_widget_post_bit">
<h4 class="cms_widget_post_header_rss"><a href="{vb:raw detail.link}">{vb:raw detail.title}</a></h4>
{vb:raw detail.summary}
{vb:raw detail.author}
</div>
</vb:each>
</div>
<vb:comment>
- feed_count is number of records shown
- more_data is whether there are more records.
- rsstitle is the title pulled from rss
- widgettitle is the title of the widget
</vb:comment>
<vb:comment>
<vb:if condition="$more_data">
<a href="{vb:raw rssurl}">{vb:rawphrase read_more}</a>
</vb:if>
</vb:comment>
</div>
</div>
<br />
With the 4.0.2 Update the template changed to the following:
<div class="cms_widget">
<div class="block">
<!-- Rss Header -->
<div class="cms_widget_header">
<h3><img src="{vb:stylevar imgdir_cms}/widget-rss.png" alt="RSS Widget" /> <a href="{vb:raw rss_link}"> {vb:raw rss_title} RSS</a></h3>
</div>
<!-- Rss Data -->
<div class="cms_widget_content">
<!-- {vb:raw rss_description} -->
<vb:each from="rss_items" key="id" value="item">
<div class="cms_widget_post_bit">
<h4 class="cms_widget_post_header"><a href="{vb:raw item.link}">{vb:raw item.title}</a></h4>
<!--
{vb:raw item.summary} <br />
{vb:raw item.author} <br />
-->
</div>
</vb:each>
</div>
<vb:comment>
<vb:if condition="$rss_more">
<a href="{vb:raw rss_url}">{vb:rawphrase read_more}</a>
</vb:if>
</vb:comment>
</div>
</div>
Uncommenting the
{vb:raw rss_description} and
<vb:if condition="$rss_more">
<a href="{vb:raw rss_url}">{vb:rawphrase read_more}</a>
</vb:if>
successfully displays that information, but uncommenting the
{vb:raw item.summary} <br />
{vb:raw item.author} <br />
no longer displays anything - just <br> <br>. I tried using the code from the older template to no avail
<vb:each from="details" key="id" value="detail">
<div class="cms_widget_post_bit">
<h4 class="cms_widget_post_header_rss"><a href="{vb:raw detail.link}">{vb:raw detail.title}</a></h4>
{vb:raw detail.summary}
{vb:raw detail.author}
</div>
</vb:each>
then I tried a support ticket on vb.com which was not helpful as all they did was give me the 4.0.1 template code (which no longer displays anything) and tell me that the vbcms_widget_rss_page template was changed to solve this bug http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=34407. I am more of a designer than a developer and trying my best to learn (sorry if it is something obvious). I was so pleased before that I had this working it's a real bummer now. It's an important feature to my site which is tying in a classifieds program. Any suggestions?
