I pmed you the link. Basicall trying to set it up like yours but different, like categories for different ranks and is it possible for members to automatically get assigned to the roster.

I have class all day Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I probably won't be able to get to answer you again until tomorrow. Anyhow, your problem is either one of two things:

1) You do not have the correct "Usergroups displayed on the roster" set.
2) You have a field being filtered that is preventing everyone from appearing on the roster. Remove the "field7" or whatever number you have there so nothing is being filtered out. "Choose a field to be filtered (I.E. field7). Users that leave this field blank will not appear on the roster."

I will have to leave that field blank in the future since this is the second time someone has had that problem. I'll add it to the FAQ though.

Categories: Once the roster displays users, you'll have better luck in getting that to work. Just play with it. You'll need to pick a column that users have things in common with other users. I'll gladly explain it more in detail when you get the roster working. Just ask the questions.

There are various ways you can get users assigned to the roster automatically. One way is by using the filtering field. When they update that field so it is no longer blank, they'll appear on the roster. Another is by using another mod that puts the users in different usergroups when they accomplish certain things on the forum. When they are put into the usergroup you have set for the roster, they'll then appear. You could also use another mod that makes them fill out a form, when they fill it out, they are moved to a usergroup that puts them on the roster. I only provide support for the filtering though, and there is not much more I can say on that.

In between classes right now. Not sure about the post count because it all depends on whether it is in the user table or not. I don't think it is, but perhaps the post count can be pulled globally. You can organize the usergroups anyway you like; check out the txt files that came in the Mod and one of them gives a brief description of each setting.

It doesn't show how to order them by how you like i have 8 member ranks there all mixed up and not in order the leader rank should be at the top but it's at the bottom.

You add your usergroups in the order you want them displayed.

Step 6: Admincp > Styles & Templates > Expand > ShowRoster Templates > SHOWROSTER, showroster_header, and showroster_userbits

Expand is not in the Styles & Templates. He is telling you to Expand the ShowRoster Templates section. So it will actually look like this:

Admincp > Styles & Templates > ShowRoster Templates > (all the templates)

Yeah i don't get it how. "usergroupid" doesn't show by name only number

usergroupid is only a number, so it cannot be sorted by name if this is what you are using. if you want to sort by the usergroup name the call will have to be done differently.

AdminCP -> Settings ->Show Roster

Look for the option "
Usergroups displayed on the roster (comma separated ID list). The order of usergroups are how they are displayed ONLY when using 'title' as your primary sort field below."

The usergroups there are the ones that will show on the roster, put them in the order you want them to appear in the roster, whatever that order might be.

At least, I think this is what you are asking to do. =)

Thanks Trek/Dragon, that is what I think he is asking as well.

Sorry I did not answer here sooner. One of my other databases was hacked last night and it effected all my .php files over my entire site. Thankfully, only the database hacked was harmed, but I can restore that. It just goes to show, always update your software to the most recent release. Everything is finally cleaned though.

I installed 2 mods and they both created name tabs servers and roster

Format Name tabs on site.

But when i click on roster it switches positions with servers Only seems to be with roster people been telling me so i decided to ask.

The problem is that both mods are using the same Execution Order for the tab. I guess they have a default order when on the forums and then when you go to the page for the particular mod, it takes precedence. So, what you need to do is go into the plugins and change the Execution Order for one of them. The "ShowRoster Tab for Navbar" is the name of the plugin for this mod. If you want the roster mod first, then change it to 4, otherwise change it to 6 or something larger.

Most mods use 5 as the default, so you may encounter that problem again. Now you know how to fix it. I'll change this to another number once I figure out how to set the execution order within the mod code.

I just installed this mod. I wanted to use it to better show our members who the admins are on our game servers. I have a custom usergroup that each admin is added to when they are accepted. When I put in the usergroupid to be added to the roster, nothing shows up at all.

Most likely the filter, which someone else asked about last week. Check this page or the FAQ on page 1.

I think pretty much everyone defaults to 5...

@unknown - Dragonsys told you exactly how to get to the plugin in the admincp, there is no other way to describe it. Once in the plugin, you can't miss the Execution Order. Ignore the xml file, that was directed at me and not you. That would do you no good since you've already installed the mod.

@Dragonsys - Yea, I know where that is, I plan to switch it in the next version if I ever make one. :) I guess what I meant to say is that I wish I knew how I could control that as an option on the ShowRoster settings page.

I'm sure it is possible. No idea where that data is pulled from though. I'll look into it when I have some time, but probably not till after this semester is over.

I don't recall that being anywhere in the vb code, so you'll have to put the colors in on your own. Nevermind, I just tried it. Since there is no vb code in there to do that, that I know of, it will take a good amount of coding to do. I was going to suggest you just edit the template and put in your color that you want, but that will only force every group to appear that color. There needs to be a variable. Obviously the best variable is the usergroup. I know how to do it, I just don't have the time right now with school. Calc B and Physics in the same semester means studying every waking hour.

So, I changed the Exec order to 6 for Roster and 99 for Project Tools, and the tabs still switch order when you click on them, so this is not the solution. I think it has to do with this bit of code:

the data comes from the subscriptionlog table.
The fields you would need to read are: subscriptionid, userid, expirydate and status
The basic SQL Query would be something like this:

Only Active Subscriptions:
SELECT subscriptionid,userid,expirydate FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."subscriptionlog WHERE status = 1

Only one particular Subscription:
SELECT userid,expirydate FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."subscriptionlog WHERE subscriptionid = {Your_Subscription_ID}

got a small problem, i have several usergroups that i want to get in to this, but if there are more then 12 users in that groups it only shows the first 12 members in the user group.

besides that i only have 1 Administror account but is shows me 2.

Well, that is definitely not possible. I'm using the same version as the one I have here and I have 34 members in one of my groups. All of them are showing. Check my FAQ and make sure you are not using the filter. Not sure what's up with the admin account thing, I'd need to be able to see your site to figure that one out.

it's Fixed now thanks,

About the administrator issue it has been fixed as well, we work with 2 layer of admins,
1 Full admin, and 2 semi admin (which can not edit or see all the Admin CP things)
problem was that one of those users was also a additional user to the administrator group.

any change that you are planning to use the all the Vb stylevars? as i dont like the black border for the table's and cells

this might be a novice question, but is there a way i can add links in the profile fields that show on the roster? For instance my clan uses the steam client for games. I have a Steam Id field on my roster with the IDs, but I would like to have those ID's clickable(to take the user to the Steam Profile page).

It's already there. Check out the Advanced Usergroup Settings FAQ, the 3rd post in this mod. If confused, check other posts here too. Someone has asked a few questions on that. That part takes some time to understand.

For starters, don't use post at all in this mod. That is only needed in postbits and I doubt it will work here. Off the top of my head, I think you will need something like:

You did not include the whole line though, so I can't give you more than that. The above is only for the first column. Obviously, you'll need to adjust "field1st" and "column1" to the correct column #.

If that does not work, give me more to go on and I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow.

That should do it. The change is done in the showroster_userbits template. You'll need to pick one of the columns already there. I chose the field8th for testing. Make sure you also rename the column in the Showroster Settings page.

This is very similar to the one I just did for Foxtrot. The template to edit is showroster_userbits. I need some more info though. What field#'s are you using and please give me some sample data so I can do the testing. Or, if you like, I can do it on your site. PM me if you want me to do it manually. Otherwise, post the data I requested here.

Thanks for the help Sarcoth! The code worked. I got the links part working, but I am having one minor issue. I must be overlooking something. When I use the code, it offesets my columns.
My steam id is in column 4 via the showroster settings. Here is a piece of what i have in the userbits template.

I think the to conditions need to be combined in some way. If I change the 2nd condition's field to an unused one, say field8th, then my roster page doesnt add an extra field 4 column so it doesn't offset the roster alignment. Doing that makes my column settings for field 4 not work obviously.. so i end up with a big column and non centered text.

You want to remove the 2nd $show[field4th] line completely. You can only have one. If you are using it for something else, then you need to remove one of the other columns instead. The code I gave is a replacement for one column.

When I tried removing it I got this error: adding child to non-existent node!

I moved around the align code and stuff.. but i still had to leave the 2nd if condition there.

edit: actually i still had to use an unused field in the 2nd if statement to prevent any extra junk from appearing the roster. Can that code be cleaned up? I guess I am doing something wrong

When I tried removing it I got this error:

edit: actually i still had to use an unused field in the 2nd if statement to prevent any extra junk from appearing the roster. Can that code be cleaned up? I guess I am doing something wrong

Group settings are for keeping track of certain fields. Go to the Preview link at the top of this mod. The bottom of my roster gives an example of how I use the group settings. Not sure it would be a use for you betts; from what I saw of your site. It only works with fields that allow the users to choose one selection from a dropdown basically.

I think you would only have to change the <td> to <td nowrap="nowrap" align="center" width="13%">. Most of this is controlled from the css template now though. Let me know if that does not work and I'll look into it further.

The only way is by controlling whether you can see members in their usergroup or secondary groups. I will tell you how to do this, but if you want to allow some members to be shown in their usergroup and some in their member groups, then your request is not possible with the current code. Does that make sense?

If user1 has a primary group A, and secondary group B, I can tell you how set up the features so you only see them in group A or group B. But, once you choose to go with the primary or secondary groups, then it is like that for ALL users.

So, let's say you choose the secondary group option. Now user1 shows on the roster in group B. You have user2 in the primary group B, and in the secondary group A. He will only show in group A b/c it is his secondary group.

Let me know your plan and I'll tell you how to do it.

Not a problem. The 1st CSS is what I got from IRISH, I just reused it on your v4.0.4. I can get you the xml he sent me if you like.

No rush on the Tab, I just relabel it in the php file ;) it's just a "Nice to have" feature.

I'd prefer to just see the exact css template you are using now. I made most of my adjustments from IR15H's xml file, but some of them did not work for me when I updated the MOD. It could be they just didn't work with my style, but if I had your file that may do the trick. Unless you have other changes in your other templates as well.

I just realized, I must have been daydreaming or something when I suggested field27. I know for a fact that would not work because it is a profilefield. I probably did a copy/paste and forgot to update it to the current variable. Anyhow, try this:

As one of my custom profile fields, I use a Multiple-Selection Menu. When I view the roster it simply displays a number (ie: 542) instead of the selected items available. I can get it to work with Multiple-Line Text Box and Single-Line Text Box but not the Multiple-Selection Menu or Multiple-Selection Checkbox. Wondering if you have any suggestions.

so ive added a profile field (field37) and it is shown on the normal roster, but in statistics its all 0.

Where do i have edit the "statistics" page or where did he gets the Data (to know which one he should add ?)

You'll need to adjust the td width in the showroster_userbits for that to work right. That is where the width is changing.

Hello, i very much like your work and appreciate you work. i use your script for a staff page instead of a roster page. I was wondering if there is way you can make it pull up more profile information. We are making a new console gaming site and it would be great if it could pull there psn ids and xbox gamer tags out of there profile aswell and maybe link in there contact info like messenger, yahoo. don't know if this would be a nightmare for you but you don't know if u don't ask right

Well after some research I have learned that by default Multiple-Selection options are stored as binary in the db. I also found a post that explains how to get the data (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=250418), just not sure if it can be implemented in such a manner to work with this mod.

If you have time to review that post and offer any suggestions that would be great. Thanks.

Great mod.

One issue I have:

Is there a way to set a secondary sort from within the settings or does the php file need modding? What ever you pick for sorting sorts by that, but then within those groups it sorts members Alphabetically.

I want to change it to sort by another Profile field.

For instance, on your site http://sacredhaven.org/forumsh/showroster.php you have the default as the Rank. For my clan we have 6-8 different divisions, one for each game we play, so I would like to sort by say Rank and then by the game before doing the alphabetical, or vice versa, by game then by rank then alphabetical.

I'm having a slight issue. I had this roster installed before, but it was disabled. I enabled it today and it was giving me some sort of syntax error so I uninstalled it. I then reinstalled it, and now it isn't giving me any error, its just showing a blank showroster.php. Any ideas on how to fix this? I am using the latest version of vBulletin, and the latest version of this mod.

This mod doesn't care whether the fields are private or not. It can restrict the entire roster from being visible to certain groups, but not specific fields. The thing to remember here is that columns in the memberlist page is similar, but different to the roster. All or none.

Now, that that is out of the way, let's see if we can come up with a custom way for you to restrict the columns you want restricted.

You'll need to most likely only edit your showroster_header and showroster_userbits templates. Put this around any of your columns, I'll use column 8 as the example:

In the showroster_header template:
<vb:if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 5,6,7)"><vb:if condition="$show[field8th]"><th class="showroster_columnhead">{vb:var columns.title8}</th></vb:if></vb:if>

Now to answer an old question: How do I remove the Roster navbar tab? Easy enough and I will make it an option in the next version. Edit the showroster_navbar template, find and delete the following code:

I am planning to make it so you can rename or remove that tab in the future. I'm also hoping to finally get the code for moving it around to work.

This past week I added another chapter for my guild so now my guild is sharing one forum and playing two games. I was able to successfully get those chapters split and using the same roster separately. Very cool to see it working. Although, I did notice a problem I am going to try and fix. Even though I can split the roster, both chapters need to use the same headers and class choices. This really is not a big deal, but can be a problem if you also use the Stats option. I don't know how I can fix that at the moment, but I'll think on it. Finally, when trying to sort via the individual chapters, the sorting does not remember the current id's and forces all groups to be sorted.

Those are a few things I'd like to update, and I'm sure I'll think of more. I would prefer not adding even more options to this mod, but I'll do what I have to.

It can already do that. You need to read the "Advanced Usergroup Settings FAQ" on the first page.

This is 4 usergroups together. Just use one ID if you only want the one.

This is what I was talking about 4 posts ago. I now have my roster separated, but this breaks the sorting. When you sort, it uses all the usergroups you have in your default roster (without any id's). One of my goals is to fix that and I plan to start working on that today.

Not sure I know what you mean, but I'll take a stab. If you mean sorting multiple columns at the same time like first sort by one column and then another...then sadly that one is not possible with the way I did the code. At least, not from what I can see. I have looked into that a few times and the whole thing always brakes on me. From what I understand, I would have to rebuild it from scratch. Not something I really want to do.

If that is not what you mean though, please clarify. I'm bored at work right now and just focused on updating this. I want to do some more things, but I haven't upgraded my forums to 4.1 yet and I really want to do that before I get involved in updating the templates. Although, I already finished the id sorting issue I mentioned earlier. :)

I'd love to see an easier way to change multiple choice user options to images. We're in a gaming clan that has fanned out significantly over the last few years, and it'd be great to allow individual users specify their preferred games (play it regularly - sometimes - don't have it), then get game columns with coloured pips as a result. Had a brief go at it when we upgraded to vB4 a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure if I understand vB4's code well enough.

I'm not entirely sure how to properly do the conversion bit from text values to images. Maybe the last value should be simply 'no' so the options can simply be variables translating to image names (occasionally.jpg -> dark green pip for example). But at my first attempts I mostly just broke the script :)

I'm not entirely sure how to properly do the conversion bit from text values to images. Maybe the last value should be simply 'no' so the options can simply be variables translating to image names (occasionally.jpg -> dark green pip for example). But at my first attempts I mostly just broke the script :)

That's a bit complicated to put into the actual code b/c it forces me to add more options (there are already so many). Especially for something not everyone would use. I'm sure a good number of people would use it, but it really does not look like a majority. Also, you need to consider this would most likely have to be its own column. What to do if people want to use this for multiple columns?

So, the better way to go for this would be to give you a walk through on how to do it. This would allow you to update any of the columns you want and as many as you want. Give me the weekend and I'll try to tell you how to do it by Monday. Give me a reminder on Tuesday if I have not posted it. Also, please click install. I only put special code together for those that have Install clicked.

@ Grey_Goose - Think of this like the member list that can appear on every forum. There are columns, but each user only has 1 row. You cannot give a user more than that.

So, to answer your question, there is not a way to currently make it handle multiple characters. Not without a lot of additional programming. Sorting would also no longer work since that has to be done per a single column. This is not something I would be willing to work without compensation for my time. Sorry.

Barteh/rowedf - I started looking into the changes for that one, not too hard, but I will want to release the next version before I give the needed changes. Just in case what I give you no longer is the same after the next version. I would not be willing to redo it. Anyhow, I'll tell you how after the release. Scheduled for 1st week of January, unless I get a burst of free time before then or my trip gets canceled. The latter is looking likely right now.

I have a couple of questions about this mod if you have the time.

1. Is it possible to have members added to a roster based on a custom user profile field instead of by usergroup?

I have a site that is dedicated to a table top wargame (Wings of War (www.wingsofwar.org)) and one of my biggest challenges is organizing and networking the players in the real world.

I have Wing Commanders that oversee an entire country, they in-turn appoint Squadron Commanders over States/Provenances, and then those guys appoint Flight Leaders which actually head up the local gaming group/club (the members).

The Wing and Squadron Commanders also act as moderators on the site. This limits me from breaking each location down to a usergroup (would have to have an ungodly number of usergroups to cover all the locations and leaders).

@Sable - Like arrow stated, this should work with whatever version of vB you have right now. It works for me and I have the most recent version of vB. I am planning to have an upgrade done this week, but I want to make sure it is ready before just posting anything.

@arrow - Do a search in this mod, I know I've posted it before. If not, ask again after the update is posted and I'll let you know. I'm currently not giving any how-to's until I post the next update, in case something changes.

I really don't see a need for a search feature. The roster is only meant to display all members on a single page. A search feature would be needed if there were more than one page. If someone wants to find someone particular, it would be better to use the browser search (CTRL+F).

I'll be sure to retest the avatars and online status prior to releasing the next version. If you still have problems after that, I'll look into it further. Thanks.

For some reason the borders seem to not inherit the templates default.
Because of this instead of being black/dark grey the boarders our a greenish color [similar to your own site demo]

Sarcoth, i have more than 130k members, that i want to list on that page.. So you can see how desperate i am to get a search working in there, and also to list lets say 200 members per page.. @Anti - Sorry, but that would be a major addition. I only add things to this mod that I would use. Plus, it would be a lot of work. If you have so many members, you may want to consider using my advanced features and breaking them down into smaller rosters.

At this point, in this mod's evolution, I consider it to be complete. All the major updates are done. I will only add small things to it and fixes. A search feature and multi-page roster would be a major addition. I only do major additions for payment.

@ Anti - Yes, as soon as I get done with the newer version I will start filling the easy requests that have been requested. Starting with Barteh's.

I just finished redoing the navbar code and all seems well with it. I am going to try and get the ordering to work in this version b/c I have a problem with the navbar moving inside and outside the roster.

Completed so far:
1) id's and m's can now be sorted.
2) navbar code redone and looks much better IMO.

In the works:
3) Whenever sorting is done, the stats do not work. This really isn't an issue though so I will set it up so the stats are not shown when sorting (easy).
4) Navbar positioning when in and out of the roster page (difficult).
5) Allow the roster button the option of being renamed (easy).
6) Setup a dropdown menu for the roster when using the advanced roster options (medium difficulty, just a lot of code changes. this may have to come in another version).
7) Find a way to fix the border for the roster. It does not inherit the color of the current template, but if I remove the code it breaks the roster. I may just put in code so it can be adjusted by the user. (should be easy, but not working).

Wow, a full day spent on the navbar stuff. I thought I had it done yesterday, but I had to redo it again because I could not get the order setting to work. I removed the navbar code (mostly) from the php file and now it is completely done via the plugin. I renamed the template to navtab and created a new template called subnavtab to do the sorting. I had many problems getting it to work, but in the end, the subnavtab template will only show when on the showroster page (exactly what I wanted). Even if you disable the tab, you will still have access to the subnavtab sorting options. And, the order of the navtab has been completely removed from the settings and you will have to use the plugin execution order to change its order. You can still adjust the location in the ShowRoster settings though.

The subnavtab is rendered by the showroster.php file. The only problem I am having, not really sure it is a problem, but the subnavtab is rendered via a template_hook. Personally, I think it should be rendered another way, but everything I try does not work. I have no idea when the template_hook works especially since the code right after it does not do anything. It works this way though, so I guess I cannot complain; I have a headache.

I have all the above options completed except for the border (#7) and dropdown menu (#6). I think the dropdown will be easier now since I have the navtab code better designed, but I will have to put it off. No one has really asked for it anyhow and I ended up going another route with setting up my own personal navtab's for my site. If anyone is interested in the code I am using for dropdowns at my site (sacredhaven.org), let me know and I'll post my code here.

Anyhow, if I can complete the border code by tomorrow night I hope to have the update posted soon after or the following day. Barteh, I'll send you a PM soon on being the guinea pig since you volunteered.

Hi Sarcoth, thanks for getting back to me. On #2, I mean is it possible to have a conditional such as AND. So, if member is in usergroup X AND has profile field Y, then add them to the roster as type Z.

Does that make it easier to understand?

@ Mobo - Since you are asking about two things the mod already has, I am guessing you know about them. The only way they work in conjunction is by affecting all usergroups. Sadly, there is no way in the code to affect just one usergroup and the missing profilefield.

Yet, there may be a way to do it. Give me a link to your site and show me exactly what you want to do. If it takes me less than 15 minutes to think up, I'll let you know what you can do. That is the timeframe I set aside for whether it is an easy fix. Easy ones I'm willing to do.

It sounds like you want to put members into certain usergroups based off of what they put in their profilefields. That part lies outside the ability of the showroster mod. You'll probably need to find another mod that can do that.

and then use the usergroup ID to determine where on the roster they should be added (Commander, Leadership, or normal user for example).
This mod strictly works around usergroups and profilefields. The usergroups are what divide the users into the different groupings and the profilefields are the columns. You can prevent users from showing on the roster if they did not fill in a single profilefield, but that's the extent of it.

I may be wrong, I just woke up, but that is how it sounds to me. It definitely looks like a medium to large project though. I think I could do it, but I am only doing small fixes from now on. Sorry.

I installed the mod, just like the instructions say. I set up the usergroups allowed to see, those to be shown and all that stuff. I added some profile fields for test to some members on the usergroup in question and filled them with infos.

Now I go to the Roster and its empty, and stays empty. What did I miss here ?

The board Version is 4.10 btw.

BTW, I just tried the online status option on my forum and it is working. I turned it on and a bunch of them lite up for the users online. If you have edited the _userbits template, you may want to copy it (backup) and revert it back to the original.

The column width is easy though. Open the _userbits template, after you revert it back, and change all the <td> to <td width="10%"> or whatever percentage you want.

@ Anti - Yea, that looks like the default one. I don't see anything wrong with it in regards to the online status. Mine works perfectly. To get the width set, you need to change all the <td> to <td width="10%"> and you'll have them all the same width.

Alright, I got this working. Here is how to set it up.

Go to the AdminCP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field
Select Single-Selection Menu
Put whatever you want in most of the fields, but you'll need to use the following for Options:
Yes
Occasionally
Rarely
Not Owned

You can change the Options to other words, but you will need to update the template code (listed below). Also, do not use special characters (like single or double quotes).

Next, edit the showroster_userbits template by adjusting one of the field column's. My example will be using the column8 one.

Look for:

Hey folks. My school starts up again on Monday so I'm planning to head back into hiatus. I've also decided to stop taking requests for modifications, sorry. Guess I'm just tired of doing things for free. I may come back now and then to release updates, but no promises. Alright, I got this working. Here is how to set it up.I'm still poking at the layout and settings on my test forum (specifically where in the user settings to let these custom fields show up, I also have a computer specs mod and I want to visually separate these fields), but images work exactly as advertised, thanks :)

I've also swapped the column titles for icons. Edit the showroster_header template, find:

Yea, we are going to be moving over to that fully. The beta has been a blast. Right now we are on Wolfsbane and going Guardians. That has been the voted upon faction for release, but nothing is definite till we start. :)

BTW, I am going to do some extra code for setting up my guild in RIFT. The new roster I am going to have will have columns for Class and Role. Class will be Cleric, Mage, Rogue, and Warrior. Role will be: Control, DPS, Healer, and Tank. The extra code will be for using the Statistic addon for the roster (it shows how many of each group are there). Basically, I will have each class separated on the Stats and then down by their row and the count. Check my roster for what I mean. If you look at my roster, you'll see that it does not do the stats correctly because all the counts are going to the first column. I'll eventually fix that. Since everyone can have 3 souls, it is kind of pointless going that route.

I may not be updating my generic code for awhile, but I need to make some updates to work with the new game my guild is planning to play in March (RIFT). I'll post those updates here for anyone wishing to use it. You'll need to do a couple manual updates before you use it though.

Update two profilefields:

1) Adventure Class (or some other name). It must be a Single-Selection Menu. Choices: Cleric, Mage, Rogue, and Warrior. Keep track of the field# for this one. Mine was field45.
2) Class Role. Must also be Single-Selection Menu. Choices: Control, DPS, Healer, Tank.

In the "ShowRoster Group Settings" (AdminCP - Settings - Options):
1) Enable group settings.
2) Column select - choose the column using Class Role.
3) Enter the following title for the 4 groups: Cleric, Mage, Rogue, and Warrior.
4) Enter the following 4 names for each group (repeating them 4 times): Control, DPS, Healer, Tank.

Replace the showroster.php file you are using (must be 4.1.0) with the attached one.

Funny, that was exactly what I was wrapping my head around :)

I think I managed to get most of the behaviour I was looking for, couple of things that might be interesting for a future version. I've moved the sorting function to the column headers and included an onmouseover highlight for example, felt a bit more intuitive than a pulldown menu. And a selected column will also be highlighted with a (lighter) colour. I've made quite a few code changes and they're probably somewhat messy, but they're all working and if you want to see if there's anything useful in there I can mail you the files.

I really do like what you have done with that Barteh. Not something I would need, but it really looks great.

Can you add something like dkp? You done great hack, each group has own tab with possibility of sorting, you need just add field for dkp and possibility to edit this field to Group leader or Moder. thats all :D

That's all huh? Not sure how you keep track of DKP, but I like to know every raid the DKP comes from, what target was killed during that raid, what loot people won, etc., .... There is a lot to manage that type of database and the work it would take to build that is extensive. If you are talking about another column where you only type in the points, then you'll have to find another way to do it. You could do it by making a field not editable, but then only the admin's could edit this. There may be some other options, but it is still a lot of work. Work I would do only for money. Instead, I recommend you do a search on eqdkp and use that as a seperate DKP database.

Did you use to have an old version of this installed? You don't need to edit usergroups for the mod anymore. Not for many versions.

I have a question about changing the ranks.

In my community we have promotions once a month for the members.
Depending on how active they are and what they have done for the community, they rank up.

We have over a hundred members. Is there an easier way to update their rank without having to go into each user and change it there?

It would be nice to have a list of all user and then just update the rank of all of them on one page. If not it will take me hours to go in a set the rank each month for the members.

Any ideas?

This Customizable Roster Mod has been a lifesaver for me and my community. To bad there's not a way to change the fields that display on multiple rosters, so you would have different fields show up on each roster. I would even be ok with installing multiple's of this addon to get the results. Not even sure if you could copy another Roster.php so you would have Roster2.php and some how create a template for that in the Styles?

The roster will work great for what we need, but my main issue is being able to update the members rank easier. As I see it I will have to go into each user and update their rank, which will take forever.
I wondered if there was a way to update everyone's rank from one screen instead of having to go into the admin for each individual member.

I?ve read about the ID= function and found the setting that says "Change this to yes to use the ID usergroup function." but im not sure where to add the IDs? Do i have do edit the php code in "plugins > Showroster tab for navbar"?

Make sure the following file does not exist:
Delete the bitfield_showroster.xml in the /forum/includes/xml/ directory (if there).

That is in the Upgrading.txt file. If it does not exist, then the upgrade part is not your issue.

I have about 100 members on my roster as well. I use the EasyForms mod and have set up a form to give my officers the ability to do promotions. Roughly, it will take the user from one usergroup and move them to another. I won't go into it much more here, use that mod thread instead. But, I will say this, EasyForms is one of my favorite mods of all.

That's the best I can offer since this mod will never be able to accomplish that.

I normally do not mind the posting of links to other mods in this thread, as long as they are topic related somehow. :)

Well, there is a way to do the field thing, but it is tricky because I would need access to the forum and the php file. I may be able to do it with just access to the forum templates. The multiple copy of the roster would be a change to all the references in the xml file and the php file. More tedious any labor intensive than difficult. The former is something I could do if anyone ever wants to hire me for it. If anyone ever wants to do the latter, feel free to post your files of it here for others to use. Just make sure it is tested.

I wish I would have thought about having multiple rosters initially b/c then I could have done the code differently. Course, when I started, I only had my guild in one game so never bothered to plan ahead differently. We are back to one game, but I know what a problem it was with the roster when you do play more than one game.

There is no easy fix this because I would have to redo a lot of coding. Not something I really want to do. Maybe someday.

Anyhow, if I finish up some other projects, I will consider doing some more changes to this over the summer. Nothing definite though.

I've just upgraded from vB 3.8x to vB 4.1.2 and had the older version of this plugin installed (v1.2.1).

My older version had some customizations done that I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to implement this on the newer version. For example, I had a column "Contact Member" with the email/PM links and images that went along them. In which template do I put these and how? I'm not too much of a code-head, but I can copy and paste real good :p

Also, the User Names are hyperlinked, but when one clicks through them, you end up on the forum home page and not on the user profile page. How do I fix that? Any assistance will be truly thanked. Thanks! :D

@ bryanb - This is with all of the new code or are you trying to use some of the old code? What you are stating there is something that happened to me for the first time I tried using the link code from vb3.8 in the vb4.x.

If that is with all of the current code, then I am not sure what the problem would be. No one else has ever had that issue before. I am still on spring break so I would be willing to take a look at this for you, but the customizations you want is not something I can get to until May. For that, you want to show your old code here and see if anyone is willing to update it to 4.0. Many people have asked for updating various links over the last year, so those are throughout this thread if you want help on it sooner.

Right now I'm just trying to get the showroster page to hyperlink the User Name to the user's profile page (in the first column). It seems the default is linking to the main forum page.

I found the problem. It has to do with vBSEO.

I'm using vBSEO 3.6.0 RC 2 - I turned it off and voila - the links on the showroster page go straight to the user profile.

Figured it out. I removed a phrase from the showroster_userbit template.
-{vb:raw userinfo.username}

If you are using vBSEO like I am, you need to do this or the URLs won't write correctly. There is a thread at the vBSEO forum that discusses this.

Great Addon for vBulletin, but I have a little problem.

I have created 2 custom fields in which my members can select multiple options via checkboxes.
And the showroster.php does not display the name/s of the selected choice/s, but instead doing some kind of crazy math thing.

Example:
I have a field in which you can select between 3 options. I have checked 2 of them, and the showroster shows a 6.

Is it possible to change that, so that the roster will show the name/s of the selected choice/s?

Can we import the roster from rift using the /guilddump (or was it /dumpguild) command?

When you do the command in game, it creates a guild.xml file with all the info the game directory.

Sorry, but radio and checkboxes are not possible at this Mod's version. There is a coded way to accomplish this on a per site basis, but it could involve a lot of coding depending on how many choice you have. I may look into adding this code in May-August (summer break).

Others have reported that same problem. I'll look into it when classes are over. I probably have to update something for the current version of vB. I have not upgraded in awhile so I don't see the problem.

It is going to display whatever you put in the primary sort box. Put title back and you'll be fine. The box right above that allows you to put it in the usergroupid order you want to have it in.

No, this mod does not do that. I use the guilddump command all the time so I am familiar with it. I currently do not have the time needed for coding this. But, if I were to do it, it would be its own mod. No way to have it incorporated in this one.

I will try to check back here now and then, but I won't be around much until this semester is over. Probably longer. I will start check in more frequently at the end of May. I will fix any problems this mod is having, but not 100% sure about adding new code yet. We'll see.

Is there a way to change the background of the roster table (the entire roster table) and add the borders?

I attempted to work with the CSS file (the only file I saw with borders in it) and couldn't get them to show up.

Yes, but there are limitations. You have to use the same columns and title.

Guardian Usergroup (http://sacredhaven.org/forumsh/showroster.php?id=42)

Recruit Usergroup (http://sacredhaven.org/forumsh/showroster.php?id=43)

If you need help setting that up, ask and I'll reply when I can. The instructions are in the FAQ on page 1 though. Not the best so I'll answer questions if needed.

Although, there is another option. You could create some code to say, IF usergroup==7, do these columns and title and then another IF for the other usergroup(s).

This is extra coding though and I really don't do that for free anymore. Too time consuming.

Thanks for your reply, Using the ID will be perfect for me as the columns would be identical. However, I'm having an issue with it. When I go to showroster.php?id=10 where 10 is the usergroup I want to show, I still get a list of all the usergroups all on one page. Are there any other options I need to change in order for it to work?

Okay, I am ready to look into this for you. You know, if you do an image icon, it would be the same for each person right? If that's what you want to do, we can do it. Attach the image here, tell me where it is located on your forum, and give me the link of where one of your users will go. This should be easy enough to do. Basically, each user will only edit the part of the link that changes from each user, usually their ID. The rest will be constant and within the code. Which column would you like this to be in?

I upgraded my forums to 4.1.3 and I am not seeing a problem.

I think the only thing you need to change is the Primary Sort field in the settings. Change it to field# (the field that is being used for wins). From there, it should sort by username, but not 100% sure.

I think it is working, but the Primary Sort is automatically Ascending. To make that Descending, make the link to your roster page the following:

I cannot reach your site, but I think I know what you are asking. I am not doing anything too special and may not be doing what you want, but here goes.

Create a new profilefield and call it status or something like that. Make it a dropdown and give it the choices of: Active/Inactive/Whatever else you want. Then, in the Roster settings, put the field# for the filtering box.

In the showroster.php file, you will need to find every place where I have:
($filterout == '')
and Change it to:
($filterout != 'Active')

Anyone that does not mark their Status to Active will not show up on the roster.

There is another way that can use the date of the last visit too, but that one requires more coding. I can do it, but that is extra coding which I only do for pay.

Drop the contents of the upload folder - "showroster.php" into your "forum" file or directory. This is the one that has "admincp" and all other main folders/directories in it.

Nothing set with the click of an easy button. You need to set up one of the columns to sort as a Single Table. Sort that column and then copy/paste that table to excel.

I have officially completed production of the RIFT Roster Mod. The mod was created at the request of another guild leader for his site at a decent fee. I'll post his URL if he gives me permission. Until then, you can view it at my site:

It allows RIFT guild leaders/officers to upload the guild.xml to their roster and show the ranks they want to show on the roster. It was a complete revamp of the showroster and really taught me how to incorporate new code. Lots of fun! :)

So this is separate from the roster?
This is great! Can this be incorporated for any clan and not just RIFT?

Thanks Charlie. This is a completely different roster system but it will only work for RIFT. The reason is, the coding used here can only read the data from an XML file that resembles the one downloaded from the RIFT in-game guild manager. The code can be changed to do the same for other games, but it would take time to do it.

The only reason I made the new roster mod was because someone hired me to do it. I added everything I was paid to add, but I am still working on adding a few more features.

It is a paid one b/c someone paid me to create it. I'll explain more about it on my forum though if you have further questions. Base starting price is $15.

Okay, I am ready to look into this for you. You know, if you do an image icon, it would be the same for each person right? If that's what you want to do, we can do it. Attach the image here, tell me where it is located on your forum, and give me the link of where one of your users will go. This should be easy enough to do. Basically, each user will only edit the part of the link that changes from each user, usually their ID. The rest will be constant and within the code. Which column would you like this to be in?

Basically I run a Star Wars the Old Republic Guild and wanted one of the member fields to just have a a field where the member puts in a username and then on the roster it would be a link to their profile page on the swtor.com website, the image could be the same for everyone

Then, in the location field, the user currently selects a country from a drop down list and the country is displayed on the roster, is there any way to just show the countrys flag instead?

And lastly, same as above, but where the member has chose what class they are, could it show a class icon on the roster page for that class?

I'm getting a strange error.
Everything was working fine, now this appears when you visit showroster.php

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 548128 bytes) in /home/napoleon/public_html/tournaments/includes/functions.php(7068) : eval()'d code on line 37

I just returned home from TDY for my company. I will still occasionally support this mod when I have the time. To my knowledge, nothing is broken so there are no plans for updates or additions right now. I'm only coding for fees at this time since I am nearly always busy with coding projects (have 5 on my schedule at the moment).

@ Sanadil - This mod does not have that ability due to the way it was initially coded. I "think" that would require recoding from the ground up. I do know how to do it because I made it work with my new RIFT Roster Mod, but I am not taking on any free projects right now.

Not a problem, I ended up writing my own. I had one for PHPNuke I converted to work with vBAdvanced and vBulletin. Looks like a great MoD you have here though :) Nice work on it.

Open the showroster_subnavtab, select all, delete, save. do not delete the template b/c errors will occur, but deleting the code within will remove the subnavbar options.

how can i add this to vbadvanced cmps so that i can have all my cmps modules and menus and have this roster appear in the middle? I messed with running it through cmps but i could never get the menus to show... but then again i am a noob.

Very good! One question though. I own a NBA forum. I was think if I can use this as the rosters for the real NBA teams. Is it possible? I mean, I will be more than happy to import them and edit their stats, but I do not want users to like "join" the roster. Understand? I will really appreciate it if someone can help me out here.
