Well I installed this. Followed the install instructions implicitely, tried using combinations from vbcode to the domain name path to absolute path to...well I tried all the common options. No red X, no images, nothing.

Move the flags Code and place it under the 'moods' code.

If you have any problems, PM Me (Is that your forum, in question, in your sig? - If so, I can't view anything as I have to be a member).

not the fact that they are gif.

For example, your file Bosnia-Herzegovina.GIF, but the corresponding country is called Bosnia Herzegovina. Therefore if you select Bosnia Herzegovina as your country, it will look for "Bosnia Herzegovina.gif", which doesn't exist.

Same for:

Cocos -> Cocos Islands - Keelings.GIF
Curacao -> Cura?ao.GIF
Ivory Coast -> Cote D'Ivoire.GIF
Saint Kitts Nevis Anguilla -> Saint Kitts & Nevis Anguilla.GIF

etc. there are many differences.

Quite right, That option has been removed from the 4.0.4 Version. Mine is "Edit Profile" and I have just tested again and it does show on Registration too.

Same for me. The coding must be different for 4.0.8 . The ones that had it on 4.0.6 or .7 and upgraded to 8, it probably converted the templates automatically. If one of them could post how the new code looks, we'd be set. I think :)

The creator of the flags is a friend of the original creator of this mod. I have already contacted him, and in turn, he has contacted his friend. His friend did say that he would do some, but that was a long, long time ago.

I gave welshy access to help me resolve my issue with the flags not working on my site. within 10min of sending him his login info he was fast to help me. even after forgetting to give him admin rights he was patient on helping me out even thou he didnt have alot of time.

welshy was able to find the issue in my forum that was a non related code issue on my part or his part. its was due to another popular mod that was put into the wrong postbit area.

i look forward to using more of welshys products or plugins.

Upgraded to 4.1.2 with new theme and works great.

Dont forget to move the "Flags" folder you put originally into your theme's style folder in the images folder.

Also follow the directions at the top of this page specifically for the version of VB you are using.

Not sure what you mean by postbit_xxxx - there may not be more than single file of postbit and a single of postbit_legacy - may be you have to re-uploade ther original vB 4.1.2 files.

Regarding the flags1 flags2 and flags3 - extract them into one flags folder and they upload to ../mages/buttons folder - keep in mind the style you are using...(before uploading find out the imagedir in your stylevar

Got it fixed and working thanks.

I did have one alaignment issue, where the bit that says "Country:" to the left of the flag in the postbit was too close to the flag, so it was out of line, so I just edited the template and added 9 or 10x alt+0160 and that fixed it :)

By the way, the Northern Irish are asking where their fecking flag is LOL

The creator of the flags is a friend of the original creator of this mod. I have already contacted him, and in turn, he has contacted his friend. His friend did say that he would do some, but that was a long, long time ago.

I tried using the last template edit that is for 4.1.1 on my 4.1.3 and couldn't get it to work. I used the code for 4.0.6-4.0.7 which is this:

And it worked fine. Although, I did not use this for country flags. Instead I used it for my baseball forum and choosing your favorite team, it works wonders. If you want to use it for something else like I did here is how I did it (it is modified).

All my images in the images/teams directory have to match the option names exactly. Yes that is correct. It is actually located in images/yourstyle/buttons/flags.
This is assuming you have custome styles on your forum other than the default style.

Thank you Charlie. I do have 5 styles in addition to the default and mobile, but I'm not finding them anywhere in my forum directory. I see the "CP Styles" folder.

I'm asking because we like the flags mod, and a similar zodiac mod, but I can't get the flags to display no matter what I do. Just the names, and right-clicking one even allows me to access the image file's properties. The modification for vb 3.8.6 and earlier worked fine for years.

I've checked chmodding. I've tried different directories for the flags folder. I've verified the listing and spellings in the Admin CP. The custom profile field is set up, the same as the older flags mod.

I tried using the orignal template code listed here, but it didn't work. I also wanted the border/box like the rest of the info in the post display-member info data. Can anyone tell me why this code won't work?

This is your problem. You need to add the flags file that contains all the images to your proper sytle directory. Look something like this = forum/images/tribalgold/buttons/flags
I had a look at your site with firebug and your images are not in any directory.

If you have an image path of "flags" in your stylevars then I guess the code would work, otherwise you should use the imgdir_button. Another option you could try is a direct url, something like <img src="http://www.yoursite.com/forum/images/buttons/flags/{vb:raw post.field6}.GIF"

Have you ensured your code is correct in the 2 style templates? Are the images in the correct directory for each style?

Ive been trying to get this working in the profile popup and on the profile page. Has anyone figured out the correct code. I can get it to show but it always defaults to the US.

Easy. Just get your flags (try famfamfa or some other free icon pack) rename them to whatever your option is in the profile and follow the same steps.

So as an example if your option in your profile field is California then your matching flag would be California.gif

May b i am wrong but i have a feeling that you have wrong "user profile field" number just double check by going in your admincp and see if its the same field that you have created.

You have the wrong route to your flags folder.

You have:

It should be:

http://www.imspot.org/images/buttons/flags/{vb:raw post.field5}.GIF

Please remember Guys and Girls,

It makes no difference if you have different styles.

You just need the one route to your flags.

For an example of this - please see the help for the member above. (How it was in Red bold text - and how it should be in green bold text).

My site is using vb 4.1.3 and I used Krusty's code. Here are some snap shots of what I did. I have a big red X for the picture. My forum was set up by someone else. My directory to the flag.gifs is aspenandvolare/images/buttons/flags. I am sure its not finding the flag.gifs and is giving me the red x.

I put the same code into the postbits for two other sytles I have and I get the big red x on those sytles. It works fine on vb4 default sytles. I would also like to know where to install the code on postbit legacy in case I want to switch my forum over to that someday. If you go to my site you can see that I am using what I believe to be postbit legacy but the template I added the code to was postbit.

Anyway, I just wanted to say this mod is better than presented as it also acts as a Spammer warning system. I have Spam-o-matic but some spammers get through. However, all those show the flag "Aaland" which is the first flag available I guess; they use bots that are not programed for selecting which country flag they want. So, whenever I see a new member with the Aaland flag, I do a Google on their IP address and lo and behold they always come back with spammer warnings.

So the product is great, made greater by the fact it highlights the spammers that get past Spam-om-matic.
