BlackBerry Development is typically difficult because of the amount of different operating systems / carriers / phones.

There are 2 aspects to this plugin

1) The vBulletin code
2) The BlackBerry App

If you have issues, you can provide this thread with the following:

Your Forum URL
Make and Model of your BlackBerry
Operating System Version (4.5+)
Your Provider
The problem you are having

This app has been tested on ALL simulators for BlackBerrys with OS 4.5+ Installed. (Pearl, Curve, Bold, Bold 2, Gemini, Storm, Storm 2etc.. )

vBulletin Install

- Download the attached vBulletin Code
- Unzip to your forum root directory.
- There will be one file in your root named mobiforum.php and a new directory called m_functions
- Find the config file in /m_functions/config.php and edit it to your needs
- Change the icon "forum_large_icon.png" to your forum icon.

BlackBerry Install

OS 4.5+ and OS 4.7 Storm / Storm 2

Use your BlackBerry browser to surf to:

http://www.BerryBlab.com/

If you can't see our mobile download page, surf to

http://www.BerryBlab.com/MobileDevice.aspx

Once installed:

- Open the software
- Press the "BlackBerry Key" and select "Add Forum"
- Type in the full http://address.com/ to your forum, (where you extracted your zip file), including backslash.

That should be it. Your forum should be listed and you can now surf using your blackberry, natively. Use the "options" menu when you are viewing your forum to sign in.

This software comes with an Update Check for your BlackBerry, so you should only need to install it once on your phone and it will check for Updates everytime you connect with it.

You will (as a forum administrator) have to keep up with the updates on the vBulletin side however.

Demo Forums using BerryBlab

http://www.BerryBlab.com/Network.aspx

Note: Your typical data usage charges apply when using this.

I will do my best to supply as much support as possible for all your phone types / forums.

Please make sure you post a LINK to your forum so that I can test it on my own BlackBerry as well as add it to the list above.

As requested! High res photo's.

BlackBerry APN Settings:

For anyone that doesn't have their proper APN settings, you will likely receive a "Tunnel Failed" error (this will happen with most any BB apps that are using the internet, facebook, ubertwitter.. etc).

Example:
Bold 9000 on ROGERS

Setup -> Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP/IP

Check APN Settings Enabled
APN: Internet.com

Leave everything else blank.

For your APN settings, check this page:

To set your APN settings, check these pages:

Use this link on your BlackBerry's Browser to Install to your phone:

http://www.berryblab.com/beta/BerryBlab.jad

Make sure you have the attached file installed on your vBulletin here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=106034&d=1258006671

OR use one of the test sites listed above.

If you are testing on the site you listed above, I have no tried any other language options yet, although they should work if you have the language packs installed on your BlackBerry / vBulletin.

Please let me know if it works in your Language. If not, I will add it to the list of "things to do" :)

Will this show all notifications as well when you log in (not just pms) example, when someone posts on your wall?

footose
11-12-2009, 12:41 PM
^^ I haven't made it show wall notifications yet (since I don't use that feature on my forum it wasn't a priority) but I will gladly add that functionality if you want it.

The app is still "Young" - so putting your requests in now for features you want is VERY likely to be completed, or at least started :)

Very nice!!! Too bad I use a Storm. :(

Guess I will keep my eyes open for a compatible Storm version.

footose
11-12-2009, 02:42 PM
^^ It should really easy for me to port (I've ported my apps to storm in the past) .. I just haven't had time since I've been working on this first. This will technically work on the storm, I just don't know how user friendly it will be since it will be in compatibility mode. If everything goes smooth with this Beta, I will do a Storm Version next week for you.

If you want to upload the plugin to your site, I can test with my Bold (or have your other users test it) that way we will be way ahead of the game when the storm version is released.

footose
11-12-2009, 02:44 PM
My other issue is that I don't have an actual Storm to test on, since my network is 3G.

Seems to load a tad slow because you have so many forums.

I'm going to not send the forum descriptions in the stream if the user hasn't selected to see the forum descriptions, that should speed it up significantly.

I keep getting an error message on my Curve when I try to add any URL
"java.lan.IllegalArgumentException: no ':' in URL

footose
11-12-2009, 04:25 PM
I've had this error a few times myself.

If you are adding your own forum, you may have a malformed CONFIG file.

You will have to erase BerryBlab from your BB and reinstall it. Don't forget to clear your cache from your browser when reinstalling.

This is a known bug, and will be fixed in the next release.

What does this error mean:

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: End tag does not match start tab 'b'.

I'm getting this when I try to add a forum, and I'm using all of the slashes as per the instructions.

I'm on Verizon with a BB Tour (9630).

Okay, I was able to add the forum, but I get the error above when I click on it to open up my forum. I did upload the m_functions folder to my forum root, along with mobiforum.php.

footose
11-12-2009, 05:27 PM
Please provide me a link to your forum, that way I can debug.

Typically that error means there is no posts / threads in the forum, or something is not generating properly.

I left these "hard" errors in here for the BETA so that I can determine the problems quickly, but I will put "friendly" errors in after the beta is over (hopefully we dont have many errors after the beta :) )

1) http://www.iamletired.com/
2) Bold 9000
3) OS 5.0.0.314
4) AT&T

I'm receiving a "Java.lang.IllegalArgumentException" error when attempt to add my forum. I'm running OS 5, so I'm sure that has everything to do with it.

I'll run this test on someone else's Bold, running OS 4.6.x.x

footose
11-12-2009, 07:24 PM
^^ I'll try it on my bold, it has 4.6 still. ......

I also get the Illegal Exception. Do you have your Config file properly setup? No extra linebreaks.

You will need to reinstall the app after that error unfortunately. I will attempt to figure out why it's doing that.

First thanks for making this an app like this is long over due.

I am running it on a verizon blackberry tour.

Findings:
- Scrolling is sluggish
- private forums do not show up after login

Feature requests:
- replace more with pages next/previous
- add settings option for ascending descending
- add settings option for colors or pick up forum colors
- add settings option to view stickies, polls, and announcements
- add quick keys for page top and bottom like in email
- add admin/mod features

Again thanks a lot and ill keeping using it and provide more feedback.

removrd the banner for now thanks... also why are post oldest first and how to change

footose
11-12-2009, 10:44 PM
Itchy Nips: I figured out that your issue is that your ICON is not 80x80 pixel, thus it is messing up my Image resize algorithm. I fixed the algo to watch for this so the APP doesn't give the null exception. That will be out in the next app update tonight.

footose
11-12-2009, 10:46 PM
Eric Anderson: The newest posts should actually be shown first. I know this is kind of "backwords" when you are used to viewing vBulletin, but when you have a thread that is several pages long (say 50 pages long) I typically didnt' want to start at page 1 and have to goto page 50. Instead, I flipped it and show the newest post first and work backwards.

I plan to make that user selectable (and will add it to the list of requested features), however, right now this is how it functions.

Yes the whole app the scrolling seems slow/spongy. Compared to mail, viigo and other apps.

The private forums I was talking about were forums that are hidden to most users but normally appear when you login. For example on our site we have a admin forum where the mods and etc discuss things. This is not visible unless you are a mod or admin and logged in.

The Hidden forums work good for me. I see all my admin forums and such. Are you sure that you are logged in properly? I know sometimes I mis-type my password. Maybe I will make a function that "checks" your login ?

Let me know if it was a login issue or if it's not showing like you mentioned.

The sluggishness is odd and the tour is not a slow phone. Maybe just a minor graphics glitch.

Ok I've uploaded the FIXES:

BerryBlab 0.02 / 0.85 - Nov 12, 2009
- Fixed HTML in forum titles and descriptions causing SAX error
- Fixed "More" on Subscriptions not working
- Fixed Images not resizing properly, causing NULL error on the BlackBerry

When you restart BerryBlab it should prompt you to download the latest version - I would suggest you CLEAR your browsers cache before downloading the latest. If it doesn't prompt you, grab it from here:

http://www.BerryBlab.com/beta/BerryBlab.jad

The version should be .85 on the BlackBerry App and 0.02 on the vB plugin.

REMEMBER: Don't overwrite your config / image file (not that they were hard to make) :D

the update (0.02) seems to have fixed that java error. I was able to add my forum. I'll let you know if I come across any other errors. If this works, you can add OS 5 to your "tested" blackberry os versions (at least for Bold 9000) lol

Itchy: I just tried your site on my Bold, and it loads fairly fast.(5 seconds or less).. You may wish to update your icon file. Make sure its 80x80 saved as PNG, BerryBlab will search for this file, and if its not there it may take a while to process whats going on.

I was at full network connectivity when this was happening. if you are not, it make take longer to download your image / site info.

Congrats on this awesome aps.
We installed and tested it successfully at http://www.quantnet.com/forum/

Suggestions:
1) The field where people add forum, enter username, pass should be highlighted or colored differently so they know it's an input field. Just simple interface issue.
2) Is it possible to get pushed notification when the forum got new posts, new PM, etc
3) The postbit display: the BB code does not get parsed correctly. It still shows bbcode tags e.x instead of link to that site. Same for other tags like U, B, I
4) What features admin have? This does seem to gear towards normal users.
5) What is the speed of this app compared to regular browser via a mobile style? I don't notice any faster loading time.
Question:
1) What is your plan for this? Do you plan to make money out of this?
2) Can we host the .jab on our server? It's easier to tell our user to install from our site for security reason.
3) Maybe a small fee for branding free?
4) I know there are apps for iPhone (PalkTalk?), but do you have any plan to offer similar aps for iPhone, Android? It would make more sense for us than to use separate apps.

Again, a job well done.

^^ Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

I am working on the interface as I go, so there will be a lot of updates in that regards. I've added your suggestions to the "feature requests" field and will get to them. I'm trying to design the interface so that when I code it for the Storm there won't be much work in doing so. Right now, I wanted to get "base functionality" down and work out bugs, then work on the GUI. I've already started coding some error checking (like when adding a URL you wont have to put HTTP:// and stuff like that) for the next release.

I do plan on adding push notification when a forum gets new posts / pm's as well. That will be coming very soon and is absolutely on the top of my list.

Regarding your questions for my "plan" - I don't want to give away my business strategy, but this is what I can tell you:

Any forum Administrator that Beta Test's this software on their site (basically everyone in this thread that has offered feedback and posted their URL either in PM or on here) will receive the released version of the app for FREE for their personal use. That way, if i decide to sell the app, at least you get SOMETHING for your time in helping me out. I have several modifications on this forum, one of the major ones is http://www.vHoist.com - which is completely free - so you can take my word on that.

I will also be offering an Affiliate program, which I will talk about closer to the RC.

Regarding hosting the JAD file:

This is not possible since the App has an auto-update feature, it needs to be hosted in a Central location. When the App is setup for release, I will make a easy URL your users can add. I wouldn't recommend giving it to your general population until we have at least a release candidate.

Branding:

I will most definitely be doing Branding on this App at some point, although I haven't decided how to do it yet. I want to concentrate on the general user / administrator, since it's people like this that make these App's possible.

If you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

It's a nice gesture on your part. I know it's early and things will change but do we get free updates as well. in order for our members to pay, this must have some very compelling features that other free alternatives don't offer.

For the record, I tested this on a Blackberry Curve 8320 and using T-mobile.

I am very keen to use this shortly to test but i am not sure i'd be prepared to pay for the application as there are others out there aswell as this one.

It looks good, i am looking forward to the redevelopments as you go too!

What i would suggest is maybe allowing admins to have the software for free and users to pay like £2 or something i know it'd be awkward to determine without proof but im sure it could be done :-)

Maybe offer 1 free copy to the forum Admin, im sure you can verify their license status somehow ?

Updates will be free for the life cycle of the software.

I am unaware of any Native BlackBerry Alternatives at this time, which is why I'm developing this in the first place.

I'll gladly supply all of the materials you need when the time comes. As I said, this is BETA ATM, so any selling or whatever is only to happen in the future.

It's free for you if you help me Beta test!

I want to clarify some things, since a lot of you seem to be concerned about "paying" for this app.

If you help me beta test this app on your forum, I will offer you (as the admin) a "free" version of the final software, with accompanying upgrades for the life cycle of the product.

When I say "free" - it really isn't free. I'm asking for your time to test it, play with it, put suggestions on the forum, debug the software. If you aren't willing to do that and just want a free ride, don't expect me to help you out when I release this publicly.

Free also means that if you install this on your forum, and don't decide to support / sell the software, it's not a big deal, you get it for free anyway. Use it for your personal use. Delete it. Do what you will.

The only reason I mention that I am going to be selling this product is that I want to be up front with everyone about my future intentions. Let's not worry about the logistics of selling this software as it's way to earlier to even consider.

What I need to worry about is bringing this software to it's full potential with your help as a forum admin. In doing so, you will get the software for free and ideally generate another form of income on your website by using my future affiliate / commission program.

I run www.vHoist.com - and a lot of people were concerned that I was going to run "ad's" on their site since the data is hosted off-site. I have over 5000 members on vHoist.com now, and I can only use that as my track record for sticking to my word and be upfront and forward about my intentions from the get-go.

Other Things

I have been busy this weekend so I haven't touched the software since Friday night. I have received all of your PM's and messages regarding any errors that have crept up and will be on top of them tomorrow.

is this going to be an issue in later releases?

footose
11-17-2009, 02:21 AM
^^ Did it solve your problem?

To answer your question: there's no fix for any BlackBerry for this issue. You must have your APN settings regardless of what blackberry / service provider you have for any app like this to work. (Ubertwitter, Facebook, etc.. all require this)

This holds true for iPhone, Android and the rest, unfortunately RIM / BlackBerry doesn't always automatically set all these settings (particularly on older phones). It's a common problem. usually you just call your provider and ask for your APN settings.

vbreal
11-17-2009, 05:00 AM
well this person didn't know where to go or feel like dealing with it.

they access the web just fine so i would of thought their settings were set correctly already.

footose
11-17-2009, 05:25 AM
Ah, well that is unfortunate. There is no work around for ANY blackberry software that uses Direct TCP connections as per the RIM API Documentation at this time. But we aren't even sure this is an APN setting issue.

I'll be honest with you, If a person is not going to help me determine the problems with the software, then they shouldn't be using it right now as it is in Beta. "Not feeling like" doing a potential fix does not help me determine the problem, so I am unable to help your user.

so this APN thing is a bit much for the average user.

It's pretty simple actually.

Get the APN from this site:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-network/2185-blackberry-internet-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html

Then on your BB :

Setup -> Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP/IP

Check APN Settings Enabled
APN: Internet.com

Again, you have to do this with all BlackBerrys that don't have APN settings set from the factory. I'm not sure if this is your users problem or not, but it's a good place to start.

Same issue here with 0.86 jab and 0.03 version of the mod

1) The instruction when add a forum is unchanged. It should reflect the new changes that we don't need / after forum and http:// is not needed anymore
2) It does not parse global vb variables. I have a custom variable on my forum description. I use $programtotals[1] which vb will evaluate and return a number. It does not on this mod. It just show $programtotals[1]
3) The main screen where you add/remove forum. If you click on Settings, it will display a white block at the bottom left corner where the pop up menu is.
4) Parsing html unicode problem: It displays " instead of "
5) Subscribed threads will result in "org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:expecting an element" if i don't subscribe to any thread.

Most definitely coding it for vb4.

I have not tried on Pearl hardware yet, so it may or may not work.

On the simulator, it's hard to really tell how great it will be. Please let me know! It doesn't look that bad at all to be honest.

Make sure you are running OS 4.5

You may also end up with "Bad DNS" error with the pearl - The Reason is because you have a "space" in the URL - sometimes after you put ".com" with the auto fill feature it puts a space after it - not sure why. i will add that to my list of stuff to debug.

I have not tried on Pearl hardware yet, so it may or may not work.

On the simulator, it's hard to really tell how great it will be. The screen on the Pearl is fairly small, so it pushes a lot of text to 3 or even 5 lines.

Well you asked for testing so testing i shall do :-) - i am aware the pearl screen is a little small but its worth a try even if the result is that it wont work i can at least give you a valuable contribution and when this mod is finished try and get forum members with the right phones to install it :-)

Actually, I just ran it on the Simulator right now and it doesn't look that bad to be honest. I forgot the screen is smaller, but the resolution is also smaller..making the text actually "bigger"

I have installed this mod to my site...

Site: http://www.BlackBerrySpot.com/forum/
Device: BB 8350i Curve
Carrier: Boost - iden network same as Nextel
OS: 4.6.1.204

I notice that is works pretty good out of the gate. I do not get any errors, but I do notice that My images on my forum do not show up. Instead the code to the images are seen. my site has free themes, ringtones, and so on. 40% of my traffic in done from members BB in order to D/L OTA's. Seeing that my device is iden there is no APN setting, well according to the information provided in this thread. I have my mods and other admins trying it out as well and i gave strict instructions to give feedback base on the format above. This way i can relate correct info back to you.

If nothing else i would like for you to use my site as a sample url for demo. Especially since you can grab free themes through OTA.

I have a 8350i BB and of course i'm on the iden network. It seems to be working fine out of the gate. The only problem I'm having so far is that the images on my site do not show. Instead i see the code to the images...
That is in the add later as the developer is trying to get a stable Mod then will start to tweak it all.

I actually have coded the "images" part of the App already, just haven't released it.

The issue I have with it right now is two fold:

1) It adds loading time to the threads - which I don't really know how to deal with it can potentially make a small 10kb thread over 100kb's (depending on the amount of pictures), which we all know, in Mobile-Universe, it isn't the greatest to have large datastreams.

2) I'm not sure if I should load the images when you are highlighting a post, or before the entire thread loads.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and I will gladly enable this feature.

footose
11-18-2009, 02:25 PM
Here's an example of what the Images would look like in threads.

Obviously I would make them "clickable" so that you could view the full image if desired.

I can probably release this in the next version if you guys want to test it out.

Tonight?

How I have it setup right now is that it puts an "image" icon in the post, and when your scroll over it, it automatically loads the image, so it doesn't actually load all the images when you load the threads. I guess I could also make an "option" that makes loading when scrolling over the images turned off / on ?

This only works for images with the [IMG] tags at the moment, but I also am working on the Attachments as well.

I had to reboot my server there for a moment, which may give you a NullPointer exception right now (when checking for a new version)

I will have to code in so that if my server goes down it doesn't throw this.

Give it a moment and it will be back up.

What is:

//enable images (must have GD installed on your PHP)
$bbimageenable = true;

I'm not sure what GD is...

footose
11-19-2009, 02:25 PM
GD is an image library from PHP.

Most all servers have GD enabled (Do you have Captcha on your forum? then you probably have it installed), but that variable is there in case you don't have it so you can turn it off and not get errors.

I use your forum to resize images on the fly so that they are not huge when you download them to your phone.

To Enable GD:

http://php.net/manual/en/image.installation.php

Or have your server administrator do it.

I will include the fix in the next release, but if you want to fix it now:

Ok manually took out the . and everything functions great except for
1. some images give me a red X on 2 chain links then when you click on it it opens BB browser and opens the image. In my forums you go to Vmax-4 800 then to Pipes then PSI then open post StageII PSI that is where the red X image is. If you go to Vmax-4 800 then Carbs then to Carb Cleaning you will see that images load fine.
2. Also while looking at carb cleaning the begining of post has HTML there "[CENTER][SIZE=4]

3. Do you notice that there are words that are not visible to the right? might be an alignment issue for posts as Forums and threads align just fine.

Thanks footose for the quick updates

footose
12-01-2009, 01:54 AM
Ok... update on this. I know this is along read but.. it's somewhat important.

First off.. everyone read this:

I've launched BerryBlab website at http://www.BerryBlab.com

If you own a forum, you should register here and add your forum to the "network" - this will allow your forum to be searched in the future with BerryBlab itself.

On top of that, I have added the ability for you to add an FTP account to your site profile. This will all me to automatically update your website with the latest vBulletin plugin. So that means once you install this once, and setup the FTP account for the m_functions directory (as explained on the site) then you will never have to update the BerryBlab plugin again (unless emailed and asked too for some extreme reason).

BerryBlab.com is still pretty "rough" - but the registration option is there.

ALSO, I have added the ability for "support tickets" - sometimes I get so many PM's on here that I can't keep them all in order - sometimes I forget to come look at your site and fix problems. This support function will solve that.

On top of all of this, as I said originally.... this will also allow me to know which of you are helping me Beta Test, so that when this project is completed I can send you the final version of the software for free.

SOOOOoo if you got through all that, visit http://www.BerryBlab.com and take a few minutes to register and setup your site.

*NEXT*

I have launched 0.05 of the vBulletin plugin and will do the next release of BerryBlab (blackberry) later, which you will all see automatically update next time you open berry blab.

I have fixed some minor issues for people not seeing threads and images, so it should fix a bunch of problems.

I was super busy last week and wasn't able to get around to everyones emails. Hopefully the support ticket system takes care of this.

oh yah, and if there's something you don't like about the software, or you'd like to see (and i've forgotten to add it to the list) please tell me!

I really loved my Storm and am currently loving my Storm 2. I just hate being 'second class citizens' in the blackberry world when it comes to compatible apps. I would really like to have this app.

I wouldn't call you "second class" - the problem is that RIM has done a FINE job of having different operating systems on all of their phones. This means that I have code a seperate app for every BlackBerry out there. It's really tedious, and is probably the reason why tehre are so many more iPhone app's then blackberry app's. BlackBerry DEV is actually difficult for this reason.

BerryBlab should work fine on your Storm right now, but it won't be Storm Optimized - No full screen, no real scrolling.. it will be a pain to use - so I just tell everyone that It doesn't work for Storm (rather, I don't support it).

I will have a BETA Storm software for you to try out mid-december, given that this release is ok with most people and working on most phones.

Don't worry, I'll take care of my Storm Users too :) There's just no point in porting this to storm right now as it's in Beta, which would make it even more difficult for me to debug. Given my previous "porting" of my BB app's, I dont think it will take me much longer than a Day or so to port this to the Storm. I will require lots of Storm users help though, since I don't have a storm.

*Also, once you make a reply to a thread...you have to back out of it in order to refresh the screen/post. So that you're looking at all of the threads in the forum view. The current options are only new thread/close. Would make it quicker, to have a refresh option from this menu.

Minor bug release for the BerryBlab Blackberry App, version 0.91 is out.

Nothing big, I forgot about a memory thing when doing the last release and I just remember tonight. You shouldn't notice any considerable difference, but I suggest you upgrade when prompted.

NOTE: Sometimes you'll see that I skip version, like for example .89 to .91 - it doesn't mean you personally missed a version, but it might mean that I released a "test" version to certain users as .90, so whenever there is a compile that is public I up the number.

'net.rim.device.cldc.io.dns.DNSException: Error tyring to resolve'

Figure this has to do with DNS resolution - funny thing is that the blackberry browser resolves the address just fine.

Tried changing the 'settings' to MDS but same issue.

Any thoughts?

just curious if someone limits guests viewing on their forum, will this app follow those same rules/permissions? I am not limiting guest views so this wont affect me, but I was just curious.

(in case I wasn't clear) ie: if I deny guests/unregistered users from viewing threads/posts on the forum itself, will this app not follow those rules and allow full viewing to guests?

FYI: will be doing a release shortly, been working on a few bug fixes / problems mentioned.

I would suggest that if you haven't signed up to BerryBlab.com yet, that you do so.

I will be doing a "press release" on monday on some major twitter accounts that will not only get more users testing BerryBlab but potentially give you thousands of backlinks to your site.

Hi - this app is SO cool - GREAT idea.

Please send me your URL.

Sometimes you get this problem when the URL's are a bit longer or have extra slashes and stuff. It seems to be a minor error on my part.

I have the Blackberry Bold 9000 and new threads and replies are not showing up.

Good work on this plugin though. EXTREMELY clean. Will put this on my 3 forums once a few things get figured out.

I also got an error on your site when trying to add my forum to your database. Even though I have the plugin installed, and the RL is correct, the system would give me the generic error about 1 of those 2 things being wrong.

^^ Rob, assuming this is on your forum listed in your sig, I will check it out tonight for you.

If you can sign up to BerryBlab.com, that would help a lot, request a "support" ticket and add your site info, that way I won't forgot (sometimes I miss people's posts in this thread and i apologize!)

Doing a release tonight for BerryBlab BB only (not the vbulletin plugin).

Some minor fixes, and prepping for the Storm / Storm 2 release next week.

BerryBlab .93 - Dec 7th, 2009
- Fixed some other minor "DNS / Connection" issues
- Reconfigured the "Forum Select" screen to make it similar to my Storm version (for touch screen support)
- Reconfigured the Post Reply screen to match the text size of regular email
- Reconfigured the Post Private message screen to match the text size of regular email

Shoot* I just realized that in the vbulletin plug 0.06 of berryblab, i forgot to increase the "version" number

I've uploaded the fix. you can manually update as well

Open "m_functions/index.php"

find echo "0.05";

change the 0.05 to 0.06..and it should allow you to add to berryblab.com

sorry about that!

Also, if you haven't already, dont forget to sign up to http://www.BerryBlab.com to get listed on our Network page.

I have been "breaking" this story to a few of the major twitter and blackberry sites, which will allow you all to get a lot of backlinks (and thus, new users) to your site!

http://berryscoop.com/2009/12/08/berryblab-vbulletin-blackberry-application-in-beta/

If you have problems getting listed on my site for whatever reason, use the contact page to email me and i'll fix it for you!

I am still having problems adding my forum to your network. Keep getting the error that I do not have the latest version installed when I do.

Let me know if you need any information from me to help you debug.

** NEVERMIND **

Just downloaded the zip again and re-uploaded it and it worked.

Is there a way to make the .jad download already sync'd with our forums so users don't have to do anything to be seamlessly browsing our sites with their handsets?

Adding site, i get:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:Malformed UTF-8

Site I'm trying to add is http://www.swedishseat.com/

they also said its very hard to see the first post of the thread. they have to keep hitting more to get to the first post to see what the thread is about.

are their preferences a user can set on how to view a thread?

i still have many users that can't post or when they do post it doesnt show in the thread

ohand i edit the config file to show sigs. thats not working either

*whew* it's been a busy week. lots of snow up here in Canada.

Ok lets see...

Can you add the ability to have different login credentials per site?

I have 3 forums I have added to the app and none of the share the same account information.

Thanks.

Each site should have a separate login cred's.

Add the forum as usual, then open that forum and goto "options" - you should be able to add any cred's that you need too for each site. Let me know if there are problems.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly? I can probably make you a html file that detects if your user is using a compatible blackberry, and then send them to the JAd download if you like..

Adding site, i get:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:Malformed UTF-8

I will take a look at this now, it's probably a language issue. I will need FTP access to your site to the m_functions directory so i can personally take a look. PM me

it should support this, but if you can send me the URL, then I can certainly MAKE it work with it :)

i have a user using the 8900 and they cant read new posts but they can post to the forums.

Are their login cred's correct?

they also said its very hard to see the first post of the thread. they have to keep hitting more to get to the first post to see what the thread is about.

are their preferences a user can set on how to view a thread?

I should be able to code it so the user can choose "what way" the thread is shown. Right now I have it in "reverse order" because 90% of the time the user wants to see the newest posts, instead... at least in my expereince.

i still have many users that can't post or when they do post it doesnt show in the thread

ohand i edit the config file to show sigs. thats not working either

Hmm, not sure there is an option for this :) lol it should just show their sig?

vbreal
12-11-2009, 08:45 PM
// the signature that is display with every new thread posted with BerryBlab
// we recommend using your berryblab affliate link here (when aval)
$berryblab_sig = "Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab";

this only shows when a user creates a thread via the app

i was thinking it was every time a user posts from the app.

i am sure the creds are correct. if they are able to post on my forum then that means the logged in with the correct info.

you have an account on my site were u able to view new posts tab. can you try again to see what happens?

thanks

footose
12-11-2009, 09:13 PM

Yah, I actually took out that functionality for when I was alpha testing this but I'll include it in the next release. I forgot to put it back in

ok look fwd to that

but the most important thing is for users to be able to see new posts.

but i have other users on other models that can't even post at all or their posts don't go through.

am i the only site with these issues?
