Very nice mod that I used with vb3.8, and now with VB4.

But I have one issue since I've upgraded to vb4.02 : IE8 crashes all the time if "Members have visited today" enabled, unless it's in compatibility mode.

I use this tip (here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?341410-IE8-Compatibility-Mode)) to force compatibility mode in my forum :

Add to the headinclude template :
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" />

Any idea ?

That has to be an error from some other add-on or custom template modification. I'm running it with IE8 and it's not crashing browsers for me.

Make sure you revert the templates for all active styles. When I upgraded to 4.02, a couple of them weren't "merged" correctly and it broke the styles. That may have injected a fatal but in your case that the browser ignores in compatibility mode.

This is a great mod and have used it on VB3.x and now on VB 4.0.2.

I just have one little niggle which is kinda bugging me. When this mod is enabled it changes the font in the rest of the "What's going on" section to bold. You can see the difference in the 2 attachments.

Other mods I have installed for this section are "Guest Tracking" & "User Group Color Bar".

I have the same issue with the "User Group" Mod so is it possible that these 2 are clashing? If I turn off the members mod but leave UGCB enabled then it is still bold, turn both off and it goes back to normal.

I've tried all mods individually and only guests mod on its own keeps the text as it should be.

I would say you have some mismatched usergroup markup html somewhere - an opening bold tag, but no matching close [bold] tag.

That is unrelated to this mod - you are trying to use the APM modification to install your product but dont have the APM fields in your database. You will get that error whatever mod you try and install.

On an older version I was able to modify this in the mysql db (wvt_visited_today).

Now when I change the text there, it still shows the defualt string.

You should never change it in the database (in any version). Its a phrase, you just create a custom version in the phrase manager.

Its showing most users ever online in one day from 2009 when I had the most 2 weeks ago so somethings not quite right agreed?

Like I just said, it can only count when its actually installed, obviously you didnt have it installed two weeks ago. As for 2009, that could only happen if you had a previous version installed sometime in 2009. Uninstalling or upgrading it doesnt remove any old stored value.

I've had this problem since 4.01. As you say, in the 3.x version, the hover worked. In the 4.x version, it doesn't as soon as you apply any markup to the member display (e.g., change the color to denote member group or rank).

I have colour markup on my test forum and it works fine - so I would guess the issue is with the markup you are using.

However, it does work as advertised in Firefox. It does not work in IE8.

You have mis-understood that option - it determines which usergroups can see the display, not which usergroups are in the list - there is no option to change that - its all users, regardless of their usergroup.

Are there any know issues with this mod. I went to import the xml and then I got a data base error the next thing I knew my entire site was down. I had to restore my data base to get my site back up... any one else had this problem

Its also impossible for it to take down a database like that, since all it does is read it.



(JFYI, its also unlikely anything could damage a database so badly you would need to restore it, the most that generally happens in mysql is a table crashes, and has to have a repair run on it).

Have same problem with "Members who are chatting in flashchat 6" also. I started with trying to mod the xml file for the products, will try this for now.

Not sure what you are putting then. :)

Search for "guest", 4.0 Mods, titles only. It only gives five results, the mod being the first one.

Also, clicking on any coders title (Dr Pepper in my case) will take you direct to the list of their mods in their profile.

There is some issue with your set-up.

The only thing I can think of is try editing the xml to take out the sleep() commands in the installation routines. I once come across a php installation in the past that choked on that function for some reason.

Most likely you are using a custom style, and its not based on vb 4.0.8 or above. A lot of changes were made to the WGO area in 4.0.8.

I constantly ban spammers, but their names continue to display in this mod regardless.

I have to disagree with you. Why is it a problem for banned users to display? Don't you want to know what they're up to?

Doesnt really matter what the banned are doing on my board. Permissions restrict them from doing anything at all. Pluys they are just spammers anyways.

To me though, anyone I have banned specifcally spammers, will never be members again, and they just pollute my who visited today block. Some even revisit. And I dont think anyone on my forum, including me, really want to see usernames of non-members. I dont delete the accounts of banned members as this way I can prevent that email or username from being used again, from humans or spambots.

Any suggestion of code then that would allow me to make this change for my forum? Just for the banned usergroup?

I've had this problem since 4.01. As you say, in the 3.x version, the hover worked. In the 4.x version, it doesn't as soon as you apply any markup to the member display (e.g., change the color to denote member group or rank).

No. There's nothing fancy about the markup - it's just a font color change.

However, it does work as advertised in Firefox. It does not work in IE8.

Must be some oddity of IE8 then, it works for me at work (IE6) and at home (FF & IE7).

I dont have IE8 anywhere.

Its a bug in IE8, when the text (i.e. username) is inside another tag (like Span or Font).

I have the exact same thing with a span for usergroups for having them colored and in IE8 there is no problem... it work well on IE8, Chrome, M Firefox

Are you certain? It has never worked with IE8 for me ever since the upgrade to 4.x.

Are you using the Suite or just the forum? Which version?

There is no option to limit the usergroups displayed in the list, only to limit the groups that can view the list.

I have a question, you might provide the insight needed to figure it out.
Your mod has worked perfectly since day 1.

Recently, I realized that users that registered through "Facebook Connect" do not show up in the "Total members that have visited the forum today:" section.

They show up only the very first day that they registered... after that, they're gone.
They are a custom group, and I checked their settings in "User Group Options", and I have
Viewable on Show Groups (Sets whether or not to show members of this group on the 'View Forum Leaders' page) set to Yes.

Any thoughts? Ideas?

Could it be that the default Facebook Connect setting is to "log out" a user?

(1) Go to your AdminCP -> Plugin Manager.
(2) Find the group of plugins for "Members Who have Visited".
(3) Select Edit on the plugin forumhome_start.
(4) Change hook location in last line as seen below:

Find:
$template_hook['forumhome_wgo_pos2'] .= $templater->render();

Replace forumhome_wgo_pos2 with a hook located at the top of your forums such as:

forumhome_above_forums

There are a few hooks you can try to get the placement you want.
