View Full Version : Custom-created templates not appearing?

I've ran a couple of searches on here and on vB.com, but have found nothing that helps. I will try and be as clear and concise as I can, so that someone might be able to help quicker.

I am customising almost all of how vB is rendered, and am writing my own left-hand conditional navigation panel. It's growing in size now (links specific for certain usergroups, as well as definitions between users and guests) so it made sense that it would have its own template that I could just dump in on any page ($leftnavForum, obviously).

However, it doesn't appear. I've set the template as 'leftnavForum' and set this in the templates where I'm intending it to show up, but it's refusing to appear. To be clear, I then copied the content for this specific template back into the template it was placed inside (FORUMHOME) and it works again.

<body>
$header
$navbar

<div id="wrapper">
<div id="wrapper-left">
$leftnavforum
</div>
<div id="wrapper-right">
etc etc etc

To summarise, there appears to be something else I need to do, to sort of 'define' this template other than simply sticking $leftnavForum into an existing vB template. I cannot work out what this is though, can anyone help?

Thanks a bunch,

NG

EDIT: I've looked at something to fetch the template at page level, but I don't want that. It's going to be defined everywhere, so is there a global-level area where I could set so that the template could be dropped in absolutely anywhere?

That was the one I alluded to in my post - I followed it word-for-word but failed to realise the warning message at the top telling me that plugins are currently disabled in the admin panel!

All fixed, thank you Redline! Good luck with Marine training :)
