I belive the logic between ENGLISH and NONENGLISH singers is reversed.

If you say a singer is ENGLISH, then on the page it lists them as FOREIGN and vice versa.

For example: James Taylor = English Singer. Shows up as FOREIGN. When I change from YES to NO under Singer Manager, now he shows up as ENGLISH.

Great mod.

When going to my musicbox (using IE8), it autoplays the last added track.

If I click a category of music (rock) and then click an artist to play, it plays, but does NOT stop playing last song -- therefore two songs are playing over each other.

Other symptoms: There is no new broswer window or tab opening, but what appears to be a hidden process playing the other audio. The only way to stop this is to close your browser totally and after it is close, about 10-15 seconds later the audio stops.

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

Autoplay newest media is a feature, and it is optional. You can turn it off from autoload_a_media_id

The second symptom appears to be client side because so far I have not seen any one comes across the same problem. Maybe I need to take a look on your musicbox to verify if all settings are optimized. The player window is only one element and there is no duplicated player allowed.

I notice this incorrect phrase a while back then but DnP is the coder if AdminCP part, so pretty much I need to wait for him to fix it :)

So far so good Silveryhat. The latest version installed and worked with no images problems at all. I never had a problem installing this on my host.

Thanks. The autoplay loops continually. That might be another switch to turn repeat or random on or off.

Regarding the playback...

I am running 64 Bit Vista. I just had someone test it on a 32 bit IE8 browser.

My Vista IE8 version is 8.0.6001.18783. It does NOT work

The version 8.0.6001.18702 is the 32 bit version that DOES work.


Finally... when displaying a playlist... it shows it in FULL SCREEN mode and will not display background until you click on a track name... in 32Bit IE it begins to play. If you click on another track name it properly stops playing that track and starts playing the next.

In 64 bit, if you click on a different track name, it plays both songs simultaneously.

Any single track played ends up repeating continuously without end. Shouldnt it just stop?

I would really like to see the playlist show up in NOT Fullscreen mode.

I turned off autoplay, but any track you play loops and repeats when done. Any way of turning off track repeat when it is only track played?

Did you get two tracks that play simultaneously in 64 bit?

I have given up on IE8 x64 since Adobe doesnt even have a flash player for it.

"Latest Comments" appears to display comments in random order and long comments don't get truncated:

I managed to find the quicklist_on_main_type setting, which solved the random comments problem I was having. However I can't find any settings for the other two issues;

Basically, an extra setting for maximum characters in to show in the "Latest Comments" module (in addition to comment_length_limit). I'm not sure if such feature like comment needs soft-delete , it'll just make the database heavier and not necessary because how would we want to soft-delete something just a few character. It's not a topic or long post.

However the host restricts this action. It's not an error or problem. You can delete DnPMusicbox_Settingsnew.php manually.

Have you read the F.A.Q that says

2 - I make a category in AdminCP. When I post a song I see no category appears in the list is there something wrong?
Category Level 1 is considered as Parent Category therefore it cannot be used.
Create a sub-category under it and you are set. Currently it only supports 2 Levels of Category.

Also, about the second issue, what the normal http link were you trying to post?

it is possible to deactivate the php link protection manually but in my opinion , you shouldn't. I can get you a solution to bypass this protection for admin account but then the media will not work because the php link you are to input transfer to a webpage not direct link to a media file, doesn't it ?

I'd suggest you make use of the description box. You can insert sample in the Direct url box while applying bbcode tag to decorate the description. For instance, this goes to the description/lyric form

another sugestion is for the users personal playlist can u have feature to allow user to replay all songs its more easier that way. Wondering if u can have alink on every songs you submit to let user addto playlist because the little small icon it took me hours before i noticed it was meant to do

thanks ^^Currently member cannot delete artist. The option is there to restrict. I need to figure out a place for member to do that instead of the Admin QP.

With current 220+ options at the moment and growing every version, send them to database and retrieve each time needed is a huge slowdown.

Oh then I guess it was not an error but a notice. Throughout the video it seems that the installation process has no problem setting up the tables and updating columns. Thanks for the clip, it's a good heads up since I don't have such environment to test the problem. ;)

hm ok thanks, just a suggestion, for the Quick List can you allow to have pages number so user can browse more songs from there and possibly sort the files by newest, most viewest, most liked, sort by alphabetic order?
anyway still hope u can imeplement assigned usergroup to add albums ^^ and allow assigned userroup to put album/artist pictures

Hmm quick list is just a small list of media for quick view. There 3-column List to handle the sorting and instant! box for pages. There should not be so many elements that do similar job, only to confuse the visitors.

The usergroup feature might be a great idea. ;)

5/Talking about friendly configuration, just back 3 weeks ago we didn't have that menu only plain setting file to be edited by notepad and reuploaded to server for changes ^^. Just wait to see the improvement because time is the only matter.

6/There is case that media is reported as broken but it is not broken, and showing it with Undo broken report is enabled allows other users to mark it working, that will reduce the work for Admin.

7/The session is completely blocked from access unless user must close down the browser and starts a new one. Settings for this can be changed in Configurations :)

You are not supposed to edit that file. It is accessed by the installer only and the folder you have uploaded the musicbox should be CHMOD to 777. Also be more specific of what errors everywhere they were.

This is clearly a client configuration issue. As if you search for it, ctype_digit is a default function for PHP > 4 from its offcial homepage at http://us2.php.net/manual/en/function.ctype-digit.php . Your error even says that this function is not found then some setting on your host configuration has restricted it. ctype_digit is function to valid if a requested ID is numerical value. It is for safety purpose, to sanitize the data being sent.

The size of the host does not matter. What should be concerned here is the php configuration being made. You can have a host such as geocities before which thousand of users and domains but no php because it is being limited by the server settings. Full access is different from full control. You can do the <? phpinfo(); ?> to see what function being disabled.

4 - Autoplay only applies for mp3,mp4, avi, wma or any file type that uses media player embed plugin
7 - No. If a user reaches level 4 that should be considered as some attacker,who wants to do harm to your site why do you need a notice or warning to tell them what to do ?

Let's first find out what's going on with the ctype_digit function.
Simply using notepad to make a phpinfo.php file and add this to its content

Now upload it to your server and access to this file by a browser. You should see all php configuration of your server , or your account. Look for ctype function status to confirm the situation ;)

I just read up and created a config file called testphp.php. Inside I placed "<? phpinfo(); ?>". Once I pinged the file with firefox a picture came up with what appears to be all the php info. At the top it says I'm running php version 4.4.9.

I offer the free DnP Instant! Musicbox to the vB community. There you have it, free. Plugins are made by other developers and either it's free of charge or not, is not in my concern. No one asks you to fit into some mold if you don't want to, but that does not mean you can randomly go around forcing others to give free mold. You request me to help you integrate into vBadvanced in a free manner then what about the plugin author who spent time to develop it ? You got the musicbox free, you want more for free, all in a free manner without thinking about others that is greed. The ability to upload is disabled in public version due to the need of improvement in security matters. Currently only direct url can be used but there's new development process for upload feature in v1.0.7 so stay tune :)

Been trying to set that up with the DownloadsII merge. Basically the two options I want out of it is download stats tracking and upload ability. Think I'll just hold off for awhile and see where this goes instead of going for the instant gratification.

Well a request when you get the upload feature working, please include an Import feature in the admin panel.
Oh and I think someone mentioned configuration settings to be placed into the admin section I def second that.

I'm thinking of some what a user file manager feature. Something like, members can upload media and manage them. The media link will make use of the Local URL feature to anti hot linking. Pretty much it's on the sketch now so few more days of headache before it becomes something :eek:

I would like to say you created one AWESOME MOD For VB! The Installation was Very Easy! This product is very well put together and thought out. Although the following bugs and needs are apparent they in NO WAY Diminish the Luster of this Great Mod!

I would like to point out a few things I did run across while using this great product.
#1 - We Need a More In Depth Admin Changing Capability to change all the configs on this mod without having to physically edit the DNP Configuration File. Never Mind Changed Admin to Usergrp 5 for SuperMods, Since I am The Only Admin and I never Log In As Admin. WooHoo!
#2 Would Love to see an Option to Let Users Add An Album too.
#3 For Some reason I did have to edit the Config File and Put My Site URL in the top spots, using the ip addy in first spot made users go to a new opened tab/page.
#4 The Size of the People Posters on Side Column Bottom are Way Too Small!
#5 When Clicking on a Poster on Side Column Bottom and error comes up (The requested URL /192 was not found on this server.) not the correct path used for a persons profile, although on the songs clicking on the poster name goes to their page.
#6 Experiencing issues changing media data from admincp, adding a pic/poster works, although it does not show up in admicp, changing from audio to flash makes no difference, and unable to delete the media (Just goes to a blank screen) Now of course if you are the user and edit the media from within music.php everything is fine, also you can change any media you wanted to delete to some other media you do want to keep.
#7 Would Like to See Playlist in A Fixed Sized Box With Scroll Bar On Side for those of us that have expanded the Playlist from 10 to like 50.
#8 Would Like To See A Few More Features To Also Make This A Movie DB MOD as Well, Like Add In Actor/Actress. Multiple Embedded Videos on One Page for a Movie to be Embedded.
#9 Maybe The ability To Select Multiple Artists or Actors for A Collaborated effort.
#10 Would Love Capability to Choose What Forums New Topics can ignore or have it check permissions, since I do have an adult forum and dont really need to see those titles displayed in a public area.

10 - It is known that there is a more advanced new thread plugin being developed. You can see that example on the homepage of dnp network. It is running by the same ajax core system like musicbox.

If you are not sure, you may just include the following 3 ad units:
Vertical Ads (Side columns)

This error simply means the file cannot be found. Verify your FLV link to make sure it is directly accessible. :)

In this step by step guide, we have our unique id is oN6tXuNs3k8. So go ahead and click Send sample to URL box. After that paste the unique ID at the end of the link. Now the Direct URL box should look like this.

The time request was sent does not really affect the release. Everything is on schedule to be included at one time or another. I have not done so for the reason of security matter. Imagine if a malicious one decides to trap your site to pull content from a shell/exploit page, it will be more vulnerable than ever. Besides, in a situation there are more than just one media on a page then which one would the site grabs ?

If this feature really exists it will generate even more problem, trouble and hassle than the way it works right now. Direct URL is not a drawback , it's already the simplest yet efficient compares to other methods.

Oh there is no translation process here. It's really important that you set up your database and forum encoding to the right charset. Let me know what your current settings are.

Have you checked out the Configurations at the bottom of the music page when you login as administrator. There are 200+ options for you to explore :eek:

It consume bandwidth from youtube, not on your forum :rolleyes:. Besides, the AJAX technology even help to reduce the bandwidth consumption for the musicbox, since page does not have to reload everytime a request sent.

Playlist autoplay is not yet available due to the difference between flash/media files. flash cannot be played automatically in line.

soo i went to add them to my forums via the myphp sql and it wipes over the old ones :(

editing the SQL files from php

changing the tables to match was very easy for once lol :up:

As I see, your issue is similar to F.A.Q # 10. If you would want to remove all the content, simply run the installation webpage again but this time, use Uninstall link instead. It will safely remove all the data, then you install it again at ease.

It has been years long for coders to search for a method to hide link of media streaming on their site. In the end they have to admit the fact that everyone can just open temp folder of IE to get the media file and the actual URL easily. mms streaming and other on the air streaming method works well to keep the link from being stolen, but not all server supports them and not all webmaster knows how to set them up.

The file could stay on your host or any other host. Local URL here means you have the control of that specific URL path to the media file. You can change it anytime along with the folder name that stores the files.

Upload artist photos option instead of linking to an image somewhere else. Maybe when vb4 is out with the new asset manager;) Right now it's tedious to add photos elsewhere and then copy the photo link each time to place in the artist bio.
Ability to move side blocks around. Not just left to right. But - first, second, third, fourth, etc. More options.
Move customization options to vb admin.

In highly customized styles including a lot of css, we don't get the full style of your style when we choose to use your style. Some blocks like the my playlist block is using our style instead and does not match. The td is not matching and most links are not matching either. Could be a conflict with our css and the default DnP one.
Ability to hide the whole thing from users not logged in, banned members, and users who have not verified their email address yet.This is an awesome addon! I really like the style overall and the features. Thanks for all your hard work.

Suggestions:
Upload artist photos option instead of linking to an image somewhere else. Maybe when vb4 is out with the new asset manager;) Right now it's tedious to add photos elsewhere and then copy the photo link each time to place in the artist bio.

1-The reason direct upload is not implemented because for some host, bandwidth is very much limited. It is also a security issue and soon becomes a more complicated process than it looks for member to use. Imageshack is always my favorite hosting service because it's fast and hotlinking is not a problem.

2-This is what I'm up to. I'm thinking about movable blocks that user can drag and drop manually too.

3-This idea has been discussed before somewhere back in the last 28 pages. In short, the reason I did not move it into admincp is because admincp does not have the ability to edit and save the setting file.

4-A user media manager system plugin is being developed ;)

5-Default musicbox style intends to imitate the look of DnP Original musicbox on the Demo site as much as possible. However there is limitation that it might be inherited the css from highly customized stylesheet as you notice. In such cases, matching forum style is much more recommended to use.

6-It has been added on v1.0.8 ;)

This is a proper configuration for Unicode charset forum. Take a look if you meet the requirements

- Charset utf-8 is set in stylesheet for page.
- Database encoding is latin swedish
and (not required in some case)

Let me have a quick guess, are you using vB 3.7 or < 3.8.3 ? I heard some of my friends report the same notice appears, and back a few pages in this thread someone already mentions it. It is not an error and not critical. The notice can simply be ignored since the error reporting feature of vB 3.7 was a bit sensitive.

You can easily config everything of the musicbox via Configurations option, located near the bottom of music.php , when you logged in as Administrator.

About the dark link, it depends on your forum css style, panelsurround attribute in particular. I'm pretty sure the value has not been set yet. You can modify this color via your MainCSS link from Style Manager section. ;) I highly recommend you to play around with the MOD for many more days to get to know how everything works and befriend with the 200+ settings first. Therefore you will be ready to master the musicbox, its features and functions and also ready for additional plugins or any other purchase. Just an advice at heart to save you money

Let's see. Open admincp/dnpmusicbox_setting.php
Find
error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE);
Replace with
error_reporting(0);
Save and reupload to host. See if this removes the notice.

About the purchase if you may do, note that if you buy the branding-free license you will get the forumhome plugin for free. So, it's not necessary to buy additional plugin, only the branding-free license is enough to go.

I have heard this issue from some user, but they did not confirm it was a bug and manage to set it up properly after all. I'm not sure what they did since I'm unable to contact them right now. However, to maximize the compatibility I need to know whether you put the ad code in, and it does not show the ad but a blank block. Is this your situation?

Try to use dnpmusicbox_setting.php (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=104082&d=1252106398) from the attachment of the post above. Overwrite it with the current file in admincp folder to see whether the notice disappears. Let me know asap ;)

Make sure you enter the url of the site...

"http://youtube.com/v/youtube-video-id" and not just the "youtube-video-id".
It asks for the url to be input, not video id if you read.

Settings for the anti flood can be found under Configurations. You can close the current browser and restart it for a new session if you have not known that.
Also, please notice the installer has uninstall link that completely removes the database.

It would be nice if...
1. The settings were categorized.
2. The admin side of media entry /management worked
3. The media upload fields could be modified ex: remove artist field entry etc etc.
4. The Media Playlist container could be removed(for video gallery only use)
5. There were templates instead of .php files to edit and/or modify look and feel.
6. The .php file was called media rather than music(being picky) :)

And a few other things that escape my mind atm.

only miss wordings I find is contact the Staffs. It should NOT be worded that way, it should say, contact a Staff Member. (there is no such word as Staffs)

Support is great, this is an incredible script. My members have ftp upload rights (via another script I have) and they can insert any video or audio, music, media they like which they uploaded, or opt to insert outside media.

Thanks alot for the ideas. Every update I try to pack as much requested feature as possible from the feedback of many webmasters but time is the only limit :) The MOD is just about 2 months old and I know there is still much thing to improve and some change to be made. Let's see what I can do upon your feedback
1. Yes I have this on schedule
2. If you mean the Media management of the musicbox under AdminCP section, unfortunately I am not the coder for any part in admincp. Media Management is a plugin contributed by TeknoSounds, and he did a great job of putting it together. There might be bug somewhere and should you contact him if it is urgent.
3. This seems like an interesting idea, but I need to think of the result or any conflict as well as database corrupt upon missing data or an incorrect configuration (such as adding a field, then remove it while the old media file still have that field it will generate database error for example).
4. I'll add an option to turn off Playlist feature completely ;)
5. Templates were used back in early version but they were dropped since it makes the upgrade becomes difficult, and slow down the ajax respond under certain circumstances.

I'm not quite sure if this can be done because it's more of a personal interest , in general the public version should stay as is. Else I may make it possible to change the filename as an option. It may take a while though.

Depend on what type of media you might want to insert into the musicbox
If it comes an online video sharing site such as youtube, dailymotion, hulu, etc...you would use the instant! guide in the post page to embed those clips to the musicbox. A good starting tutorial is Instant! Just installed this on a test server. It looks very v?ry awesome. I'm actually impressed with just how good it looks.

It works very good as well. Had little troubles installing the addon (feared installing it a bit because of the warning, but it was actually kinda easy) and an AJAX installer is quite a nice feature.

Just a few small comments and questions, hope you might be able to answer them.

In the installer, the instructions are the same as they are on this forum. That's a good thing, but it also says to first upload the files and go to the install link. (while obviously you already did that to read that message in the first place). Doesn't matter, just a small detail.

I was wondering, is it possible to just upload any mp3 file from your computer, or might that get possible in the future? I do understand the issues (users uploading large file sizes and so on) but with the right restrictions this might be a useful feature.

Just installed this on a test server. It looks very v?ry awesome. I'm actually impressed with just how good it looks.

It works very good as well. Had little troubles installing the addon (feared installing it a bit because of the warning, but it was actually kinda easy) and an AJAX installer is quite a nice feature.

Just a few small comments and questions, hope you might be able to answer them.

In the installer, the instructions are the same as they are on this forum. That's a good thing, but it also says to first upload the files and go to the install link. (while obviously you already did that to read that message in the first place). Doesn't matter, just a small detail.

I was wondering, is it possible to just upload any mp3 file from your computer, or might that get possible in the future? I do understand the issues (users uploading large file sizes and so on) but with the right restrictions this might be a useful feature.

Simply copy from musicbox package upload > admincp > dnpmusicbox_setting.php to your xxxx folder. :)

- Maybe you're right. Just would have been useful to get suggestions the same way broken links are shown. The user fills in the form, it's viewable for admins from the admin quick panel, where you can either approve the suggestion, edit a bit, or just delete it. That way you don't have to do the extra step of adding it manually in the admin CP. Ah well. :)

- All of your requests are more about personal interests and require deeper modification to the musicbox, it may cause issues. If you are familiar with manual code editing then I'll show you how it could be done. But note that if you upgrade to newer version, the change may be overwritten.

This is an amazing feature. I was a bit hesitant at first but decided to give it a try and am absolutely blown with the look, feel and functionality of this add on. Am just getting started with loading media and want to add more content before adding it to the main skin but test thus far greatly exceed expectation.

I see what you mean and it could possibly be a bug. The auto play all audio is an old plugin by DnP and I will upgrade it myself in next version ;)

When you turn off ajax you can't vote, or report broken links, or add to playlists. I think that's easy to figure why (javascript + ajax off). I edited musicajax.php to include ads below player they wont load unless ajax is turned off. Right now the only option is to add them in music.php above the player window but cuz of ajax ads dont rotate if you are switching artist or going to a different media. Is there a way to place ads (adsense) in player window using musicajax.php? or is there a way to turn off ajax but still be able to vote, report broken links and add to playists?

As far as I have learnt, AJAX + Ad cannot be a happy family. Especially adsense. Google do not let their ads re-initialize from an element of a webpage therefore there are very few things you could do. I would say placing ad to the header, in next version the side ad is also fixed to display ad properly. Or you can add ad in flv player if your server supports but I'm unable to provide any help. You need to seek support from JM player ad solutions at http://www.longtailvideo.com/adsolution

I plan to have the album and artist views recorded :) , it might become handy for display order later

One more thing, I want to use JW Flash Media Player 4.6 (JW FMP) to handle music for better compatibility with Mac and Linux users. I only use .mp3 so no problems with .wma or SilverLight issue here. JW FMP also handles custom playlist via Javascript so it's easy to implement. Do you have it planned in 1.08 or I have to hack it myself? Thanks.

I would try to include quick category maker in next version. About the automatic feature that retrieve information from youtube link, it has to be considered because if it adds more works to both admin (editing if title is incorrect) and members (confirmation page whether title is acceptable or not) then it might not reach the wall.

Currently I have disabled the auto play all media for playlist due to some incompability with flash files. Flash clips cannot be automatically played therefore in next version I would only allow audio or video to be played in queue.

It is possible to have JW handles audio files but JW custom playlist is not available yet. You may hack the JW to plays audio file, and you can request for a tut if you don't know how at English Helpdesk (http://www.silveryhat.com/delynie/f135/)

;) I'm having this plugin on my hand now and what it does is exactly like what you want. It displays user playlist on member profile. Media on their playlist can be played directly on their profile using AJAX. I still need to test out some bugs so hang on for now.

First and foremost, Thank you for this wonderful mod, AND the little help I needed and got from the DnP network site, all is well and playing fine.

As much as I like the ideas of the many requests for member uploads, I agree with your intention of keeping it in the admin /mod family for the huge security risk that goes with any opportunity members or anyone has, when allowed to upload to your server.
