yes. I installed a fresh 3.8.2 test site and applied your mod. Worked perfectly. Installed VBA and everything goes to h***. The image paths are all messed up as you can see in the pic. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and can't. When VBA is installed it updates all of the image paths to the actual url. The image paths when I view the source all have http://www.yoursite.com/Categorys/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif instead of http://www.yoursite.com/Forums/images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif

Problem solved seems like you need to go into article options and save new settings after upgrade.

You need to go into article options and save settings after upgrade.

That should clear the errors.

Yes, the attachments show inline perfectly in the forum I have set to the article forum. It is every other forum in the system that is loosing the inline attachements :(

You can go to your RSS Feed manager and just use those forums as the forums to post the RSS feeds into.

Easy. Enable RSS feeds on your board.

ACP-> Options -> External Data Provider


Then just go to the articles board, and click the RSS button in your browser... it'll provide you with the feed of the articles

I'm not sure why you are getting this error. The error has been reported before but only on vBulletin 3.7.x forums.

I run this on a 3.8 board no problem! Also if some of you forget to add a new forum (like I did :p) then it will change one of your current categories/forum to the article forum and then to fix it just re-create your forum i.e. mimic the category title then go into each sub-forum and make the new forum the parent of them all and then rename your article forum to what you want and done :D. Quick fix for some, a lot of pages on this mod already Bananalive so that means it's doing good and support is even better BUT if this was posted before now I apologize as I skimmed the posts.

Same here. Had that error, and then i edited my template, and it went away. But it stopped showing the article postbit, even though the option is set to "yes".

Oh well... It works :D... I like the article template but ya gotta do what you gotta do...

Ok, With the newest version I lost the usernames on all posts site wide, and the inline attachments are still showing as links. I tried reverting my custom postbit code, disabling all products, etc. No change. I must be doing something wrong, LOL

Loving this mod. Few suggestions though....

I think the way blogs and their comments are laid out works a lot better for articles than showthread does.

IE: blog comments look more like comments than replies to the thread and also have titles such as comments rather than reply etc.

I'd also like to have the Article Tools beneath the title somehow.

Permissions are done through the forum permissions.

In the Admin - under Styles & Templates -> Replacement Variable Manager

Then: enter "articles" for the search and then whatever name you want it changed to in the "replace" box

I am currently testing this in my admin forum, and I like the concept and they way it works.

Although my printable version works fine,...

I noticed the main articles page, using the fieldset version, the center column has trouble aligning the thumbnails with the text for a post, when the next following article has a thumbnail, it appears embedded within the first. Hard to explain really, hopefully that is close to understand.

Also, the bbcode and contents should be stripped out of the main page snippet I think, as if you have an image or link in the article, the snippet on the main page does not parse the bbcode and just shows the link or image source text. Havent tried it with other bbcodes yet.

Gotta say, I think this mod is awsome, and hope to see it polished further.

VB Options > Article Forum Options > Default Sort Order

I know i typically have my personal options set to view newest items at the top; and if it inherited my personal options it would have don that.

Download the latest version and you should not get the problem you having. There are still a few pages which need completing (newreply) but they should be completed soon.

You need to Search for phrase articles in your Admin CP Search in Phrases (http://www.vbulletin.org/phrase.php?do=search) and search for articles.

You need to Search for phrase articles in your Admin CP Search in Phrases (http://www.vbulletin.org/phrase.php?do=search) and search for articles.

One of the things I did was I kept the inline editing ability just by copying the edit code from the postbit templates. I had that problem too. I haven't looked too close at your template code to see if it was the same as mine, but I fixed that by removing the z-index of the author details area. The editing window should drop down below it if you remove that.

Also found out you can just close the thread, too. Yet...as an "article" forum, most threads are informative any way, without the need for comments. Why not just have that ability to turn comments on/off when creating the article?

I'll be using a child style with all the hooks, or most of them, stripped out just for that. You can override a users style choice for an individual forum in the Forum Manager and a child style will keep what you want form the parent style and not what you remove. Pretty much what I had been doing all along with the plugin I was using. Still am using it in some places.

Okay...

I just have a couple of issues I need to have addressed...if support is available for this mod.

I have the Comment postbit enabled...and every box checked in the options for the Comment postbit.

Here are the issues:

Post counts still show even though Comment postbit box is checked to hide them.
tk's egg avatar image is showing and I need to remove it.
Wired1's drop down in a postbit is showing and I need to remove it, as well.


Any suggestions?

I have posted in tk's egg avatar thread, as well as Wired1's thread to see if these mods can be disabled for certain forums.

Update...

Being that the Edit Article menu is just the Edit Thread menu with "Article" replacing the word "Thread", there wouldn't ordinarily be an option to edit the content.

I would suggest, however, that if you have Tools disabled then the Edit Article button should still apear to Admins, Mods and the OP. It seems some of the options to hide aren't hiding, but then, I have a heavily customized postbit, so that could explain some of it.

One thing I did just notice is that the article postbit is not displaying when switching to Hybrid and Threaded Modes. Not sure if it really needs to one of those, but thought I'd mention it.

As it's a non-vBulletin default template, it won't affect vBulletin's functionality in any way. If you Revert It, you will lose any customisation you have made to template

Very Curious, It'd be Nice if some other User that has a Test Forum with vB37x confirms the Mod Working on it. :cool:

One Idea for Future Update: It'd be nice to have the Option to Create Threads on the Main Forum Specified as "Select the forum where articles are posted in (and retrieved from)", because currently that Forum isn't Listed on the "Post New Article" Combo Box DropDown List; only Categories (Sub-Forums) are Listed there, and in many cases that Articles Forum will be an Open Forum for Posting. :confused:

Only in the case I select an Article Forum that is Alone (without Sub-Forums) the Mod Displays it on the "Post New Article" DropDown List, in the other cases it Displays Only the Sub-Forums; perhaps is a Code Line in the Mod that is Not Including that Forum in the Scenary where the Forum has Sub-Forums.

Other Idea: It'd be nice that the DropDown Forum List where the Article Forum is Selected, would allow more than One Forum to be Selected and that the Mod Applies to all those Forums; that way it'd work not only in One Forum but in more than one. :confused:

Yes upload articles.php to forum root.

Threads already in Article Forum will become articles. If they are in different forum, then you could 'Move Threads' into Article Forum

Forums added to the sub-forums of the selected Article forum will become categories. When adding any forum it adds a row into forum mysql table.

On another note...the addition of the number of articles in a specific category would be nice, as well.

If I can also make a suggestion...on the layout of the articles...specifically, the links in the article which allow you to Edit Article, Comment, Rate, or Subscribe.

When you add a forum category, you have the option to rate the article. However, the position of this rating needs to be changed. It should either be in the table header, or moved into the column where the other article links are.

Also...you have a link to Subscribe to the article...there's no need for this link since it's already included in the Article Tools menu.

One last thing...thank you, bananalive for the fix for making stickies appear first on the articles.php page...much appreciated.

If someone uses the Post Reply button as opposed to the Post a Comment link...it overrides the Comment postbit...and includes all user postbit info.

Secondly...

I'd like to move the Thread rating just above the Post a Comment link. Any suggestions?

Some things I don't get, too.

If you don't allow comments within the forum category...why are subscribe to this article links appearing? If nobody can comment...what's the use of having that link...in both the Article Tools...and within the article itself?

To me...that seems a little silly.

I still need help aligning the article rating, though...so...bananalive...if you're online...I sure could use your assistance.

I want to edit the Article Tools so that the only thing that shows up is the link to Edit the Article. Is this possible?
