HTML Formatted Emails

Got a query that I hope someone can assist me with. I was wondering if it is possible to send HTML based emails instead of the simple text based emails for all user communication. So when a Password Reset is sent, or Validation Email or New Private Message etc is sent to a user, it's sent as a HTML email rather than a text only email.

Has anyone done or seen something like this?
