Is there a way to make the forum main page (index.php) play a mp3 file just like on a html file?

I did try and search for it but came up empty.

I'm sure you can google it and find out what to add to your FORUMHOME template, but I would strongly suggest you don't do this. It's annoying. Whenever I go to a site that plays an mp3 when I go there, I close the window and don't go back.

I'll vouch for that, theres nothing worst especially if its a song you hate :) remember you can't please everyone ;)

yes i have googled it, i just thought maybe a vBulletin version of something like this was made : http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2006/07/embed-mp3-files-into-your-website.html

It's totaly optionaly to click play or not, it won't play automaticly. The thing is that i think vBulletin has a special design over it, and adding stuff from like the link here makes it look more amateurish (if that's a word? lol).

The player at that link looks fine... to me at least. I think there may be a mod to play mp3s on the profile page (or am I thinking of video?). Try looking in the Profile Enhancements area of the mods. See what that player looks like, and if you like it, use it on your page.

You can have it play everytime the page loads by adding this code to your header template

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
if(navigator.userAgent.indexOf("MSIE") != -1)
document.writeln ('');
else
document.writeln ('<EMBED SRC="Mysong.mp3" AUTOSTART="true" HIDDEN="true" VOLUME="80%">');
//-->
</SCRIPT>
<BGSOUND SRC="Mysong.mp3">

Except that method is RIDICULOUSLY annoying. Most websites that do that are instantly navigated away from.

*snicker* I don't think I'm going to go there to see how well this works out.

I once had this guy need help on his site and it played music when I went to it. I told him I wasn't willing to go help him if he didn't turn that off. He got all huffy at me and wouldn't turn it off. No one else posted in his thread to help out.

well, i wanted a player the is optional, but the code exanple added are also cool. Remember peoples personal websites are their own to create, The majority may find it annoying, but some people might find auto playable music usefull and nice, so thx for sharing.

If a person ask you for your personal help with his personal website, then please respect his personal opinions and decline helping for whatever reason you might have, but respect his opinion and do not try to put your opinion into other individuals minds. If all websites where the same, created upon the same structures and believes .... well ... then the internet would be pretty much boring.

I asked for help in this topic, and i got all the help i needed, so thank you very much for that :)

Glad you got it sorted, i for one hate music on forums, they always play the stuff you hate :D

However i have a friend that logs onto a childbirth type of forum and they play relaxation music, her little girl is only 2 months but when she logs on and hears the "Womb" Music she's quite restfull and the mum can carry on her moment on the forum.

Funny thing was when i asked her what does "Womb" music sound like, she says like whales singing :confused::confused:

Not that i've heard any whales singing lately, but good news all round i say :up:

Good luck with your site :)

I had someone ask for this today. I knew it would be super cheesy but just wanted to show them I could do it.

If there was a way to put a button to turn it off easily viewable it may be a possibility but I still just can't quick thinking of cheap 90's crappy geocities sites :)
