Hi there,

I used to be the admin for a forum a few years ago. Just recently I have returned to being the admin again, and I have a small dilemma.

The previous admin installed a large amount of hacks and plugins. (Arcade, social groups, etc.) I'd like to restore the forum to a more basic, clean version of VB - pretty much start over.

Can I simply backup the current database and restore to a new vbulletin installation? Will I have issues doing this?

Or is there a simple way to backup just the post's and member info? (statistic's, post count etc?)

I'm lost, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'd have to use ImpEx to "restore" to a basic version. That way none of your custom tables are restored.

Just use vBulletin's control panel to make a backup of your database, create a new database to work with and install a fresh copy of vB to it. Then use ImpEx on your new vB and point it to your old vB and tell it to import all of the forums, users and posts etc. Finish up by deleting your old vB's installation and replacing it with your new one.

If possible just clean up by uninstalling the modifications.

Yes, just try to uninstall the modifications, delete all files and upload just the clean vb upload folder and install a new clean style from the masterstyle

If you have much freetime, check the db and delete all columns which are not in the clean installation*g* (thats how i'm making it)

because, if you're using impex, many user, thread & postids will be new, so google and co will link to false/none threads/users/posts!
