No, it won't. You'll have to use the vBulletin version until vBSEO is released for 4.x.

Re-do the install, making sure you follow every step precisely.

Are you certain your host allows mod_rewrite?

Dang can't figure this out I did not change ANYTHING in the settings - the sitemaps get created OK they all go to /forum/vbseo_sitemap/data/ but in the sitemap_index.xml.gz all the URL's for the 150 sitemap files show the URL as forum/sitemap_148.xml.gz ???
Show Google says "it appears your sitemap is a HTML page..''
Any idea's ??

Did you put the .htaccess file in your forum root? This will redirect Google to these URL's!

After uploading the attached file to your forum directory, rename file (delete the ".txt") so that it can be read as a .htaccess file. After that the file should be ".htaccess" in your forum root. Try that and let me know.....

Thanks I figured it out I had to modify the vbseo_sitemap_config.php file to use forum root all is ok now

I am having the same trouble as dgparent, I think. I get no errors when I run. The only gz file I see (sitemap_1.xml.gz) is in the /forums/vbseo_sitemap/data directory. Yet the "Your Google Sitemap Index URL" link leads to "/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz"

What do I need to do to fix? I do have the .htaccess file in my "forums" directory. I did not previously have one before I downloaded this mod, so I just uploaded the one provided (didn't need to modify an existing one). I don't understand what would need to be changed in vbseo_sitemap_config.php (if that is applicable to me).

On a side note, should I be able to see a legible sitemap (in xml) somewhere? If I try to view any of the gz files, they are all 'garbage'. Should there be a sitemap.xml file somewhere?

Thanks

What happens if you call yourforums.com/forums/sitemap_1.xml.gz in a browser?

That is the sitemap file. When someone calls it in a browser or visits it as the Search Engines do, the .htaccess redirects the call to the vbseo_sitemap location, and changes it to the .xml version, all on the fly, so the Engine indexes your /forum/ information, not your /vbseo_sitemap/ location (as all Google sitemaps have to be in the folder they are indexing).

You are substituting yourforums.com for your actual domain information?

You uploaded .htaccess , and not htaccess.txt?

Are you certain your host supports mod_rewrite? http://www.vbseo.com/f77/how-check-if-mod_rewrite-working-my-site-21502/ has an easy test.

Yes, here is a link to that path on my site

Yes, I uploaded .htaccess and not htaccess.txt

Per the site you referred to, I added
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule testpage\.html http://www.google.com [R]

to the top of the .htaccess file and re-uploaded to my /forums directory. I tried testing it here... did I do that right? Still page not found.

Hmm.

That would suggest that mod_rewrite isn't working/enabled for your site.

See if your host can offer assistance enabling it, then re-try. :)

Have a look in your admincp/index.php?do=phpinfo , search for mod_rewrite to see if it's enabled.

If it is there, make sure your host allows htaccess rewriteengine.

Yeah, that's where your host comes in. They need to recompile PHP with the mod_rewrite extension. :)

I guess I'm out of luck on this one, unless you have another idea. :(

This is what my host said. "Your account is hosted on the Windows-based server with IIS6 webserver and for this reason you can't use Apache directives and .htaccess file."

Hello,

if your host has ISAPI_Rewrite module for IIS installed, you can use these rewrite rules:
RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .*yourdomain.com
RewriteRule ^/forums/((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ /forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

(replace "yourdomain.com" with your domain name and "/forums/" with your forums folder name)

This modification doesn't do anything to your URLs. It is a sitemap generator that creates an .xml sitemap for Google/Yahoo.

vbseo not worth the money from my opinion,today i wanted to edit my license for which i payed for 150$ and guess what: i can not edit it, because, i have to renew my license in order to edit it, so i payed 150$, and i can not use it ,i have to keep their link in my site, i can not edit my domain, tiket support real bad, what kind of service is that? that is why it is really bad to buy from other than official seller ( vbulletin) .
Good thing that from now on vbseo will be useless, vbulletin is upgrading their own seo system

kall
03-20-2010, 10:14 PM
This thread is about the free Sitemap Generator.

As I said to you on vB.com, you are incorrect as to the price of renewal, and the claim that we will not transfer a license if the request comes in prior to expiry and somehow we don't get to it:

in advance: sorry for bad english.
Vbseo is the worst thing ever, if you want to edit your license, how you do in vbulletin from the members area, you have to renew you license, so you pay 150$ ( which also is way too much for what the script do)you keep thei link in the site, tiket support response untill you forget about it, and after that you have to renew to edit your license, not recemended,
Plus from now on in the next updates vbulletin is upgrading their own seo, so you really don`t need to throw away with money.
ps: i you want i sell mine
Hello,

As part of the vBSEO team, I feel I have to correct this.. the renewal is $35, not $150.

(Also, if you request a Transfer while your license is active, that transfer will be honored, even if your license was to expire prior to it being actioned.)

Regarding the differences between "vBulletin 4.0 SEO" and vBSEO, we have a feature matrix here: http://www.vbseo.com/en/feature-matrix/

@smurphy - Please feel free to PM me on vBSEO (Ace Shattock) and I can investigate your claim of a ticket that was unanswered, then you were required to renew. It doesn't sound anything like the way we operate, so I would be very interested in addressing it.

I installed this and it did generate the sitemaps, but the resulting URL to retrieve the sitemap is returning a HTTP 500. If it was a 404, I would question mod-rewrite not finding it properly... I did try the troubleshooting steps on their site with no luck. (Yes mod-rewrite is on, my host actually uses their own vbulletin forum with VBSEO). I'm really disappointed because I was hoping to just use this mod for now to see how it worked and then buy the full VBSEO license as my site grows...

I found this line in vbseo_getsitemap.php causing an error when a sitemap data file was large:

$dl_list = file_exists(VBSEO_SM_DLDAT) ? unserialize(implode('', file(VBSEO_SM_DLDAT))) : array();

I changed it to this:

$dl_list = file_exists(VBSEO_SM_DLDAT) ? unserialize(file_get_contents(VBSEO_SM_DLDAT)) : array();

This fixed the error. I GUESS if your running a version of PHP < 4.3 you might need the first method but honestly I see no other reason. Why make it an array, then implode it when you can grab it as a string?

Anyway, I hope this helps you guys!

No, you don't have to. They are separate products created by entirely separate companies.

vB 4.x has a built-in sitemap generator - no idea how good it is - never used it.

The vBSEO sitemap generator is released as a free stand-alone product but the version for vB4 is still in beta.

Hi Guys,

Great mod.

I've recently converted my biggest site from Apache to Nginx. I noticed in my error logs that SE bots can no longer find my sitemap files. Nginx does not utilize .htaccess files.

Are there any instructions or has anyone successfully created a rewrite line in their nginx.conf that works with this mod?

Thank you in advance!

Jester

Bachsau

vbseo_getsitemap.php -> Correct MIME-Type for plain text is text/plain NOT plain/text!

Additionaly when I disable gz-compression in vbseo_sitemap_config.php, the log shows off that one of the pings is still .xml.gz, which is wrong.

And after fixing this, could you please add an option to disable those log files?

@JesterP:Are there any instructions or has anyone successfully created a rewrite line in their nginx.conf that works with this mod?You could use an alias instead of mod_rewrite. But I prefer to let it save those sitemap files to webroot directly. Just have a look at lines 22 and 25 of vbseo_sitemap_config.php.

Quick question, if one has vBadvanced installed and has created pages from vBadvanced that technically are not part of the forum, will these show up in the sitemap?

If not, is there a way to add static pages created by vBadvanced or something else to the sitemap?

All of the pages I created in vBadvanced have links in my forum header to those pages, so if the sitemap scans the forum code, it will find them. But I just wanted to clarify this, thanks.

How often do you guys run the sitemap generator? My site has over 100,000 posts and I have like 50 files that appear to 456 MB each... compressed... created each day! That's a lot of work and storage space to do daily. What are the benefits of this? It seems like a horrible shame that there isn't any way to incrementally update sitemaps. How do you guys manage your sitemaps?

It almost looks as though you have chosen to use the vBA Links addon module when you don't actually have vBA Links installed.

all ok but ... for non-english forum threads links is ok, but forums (and subforums) links comes short (like http://www.forum.com/a-23/ instead of that forum link) when access that link redirect to forum link.

I cannot get this thing to create the sitemap files outside of the data folder.

I want it to make the sitemap.xml.gz files in my sites root, not the forum root. I want them at domain.com instead of domain.com/Forums/ but in either case the files themselves still never get generated outside of their default folder no matter what I change.

it also doesn't generate a urllist.txt

what am I doing wrong?

Hi,
We had this running on our 3.8 forum, and it worked great. But our host upgraded their PHP and we had to get the latest version of VB.

Is there a 4.0x version of this? If not, any plans on making one?

Thanks
Chris

I been banging my head on the wall for 5 hours, trying to get this plugin to work on my server

And nothing, always the sitemap url's were not mapped correctly, and I had my .htaccess file setup fine.

Finally I came across this post:

As a temporary fix, please try this:

in vbseo_getsitemap.php

find

error_reporting(E_ALL&~E_NOTICE);

replace with

@error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE ^ E_DEPRECATED);

This save me, it should be added to the TOP post in this thread, until v2.6 is released.

This is major problem for most people on today's new servers with the latest PHP system.

See here for the original thread, that saved my day:

http://www.vbseo.com/f67/vbseo-sitemap-2-5-php-deprecated-function-set_magic_quotes_runtime-deprecated-40366/#post252157

This will stop people with messing with their .htaccess and manually copying the files from the /data directory into the forum directory, what a funny bug.

Too bad no one is answering people on how to fix it correctly!

I me posting this will helps some other people out!

Forgive me if these are dumb questions but...

If this wasn't properly configured could it hurt SEO at all? I see it says Google limits it to 50,000 URL's but I like many forums have far more than 50,000 pages of threads and each page is its own URL- what will happen to threads not included in the site map- will they get removed from Google?

Thanks

The 50,000 limit is PER sitemap, i have tons of urls, so i limited mine to 10,000 per sitemap and have over 1,000 sitemaps, just install this, set it up and forget it :), yesterday's sitemap submitted 11+ million urls in over 1,000 sitemaps ;)

Every night I am getting a database error, I have vBadvanced Links directory installed so I have the links directory plugin configured.... the database error is:

Hello,

looks like your version of vBa Links is not compatible with add-on, you would need to disable that sitemap generator add-on.

BirdOPrey5
10-15-2010, 02:35 PM
Apparently so, after updating the table name in the code to "adv_links_categories" it now gives an error that "private" is not a valid field in the WHERE clause and after looking at the database structure it seems like "private" is no longer available, it's a more complicated system based off link category and then if the category is private or not.

If I submit a sitemap without the links directory will they still remain in google because they were already indexed independently or will they get removed if not part of the official site map?

Try to change in the php file from:

Works for me.

I upgraded from vB 3.7 to vB 3.8.6 and I also upgraded this MOD from 2.1 to 2.5

Question #1: Moreover failed?

Question #2: When I "run sitemap generator" .. it shows that I am missing -45,000 posts. Where did they go!?? lol

Question #3: Also I see that sitemapindex is located at http://www.mysite.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz and all sitemaps are in root too. BUT I don't see any of these files. I am assuming the .htaccess is rerouting to the appropriate location? My forum is located in http://www.mysite.com/forum and I currently run CMPS in root, but am planning to switch to Wordpress for root. <-- Trying to provide as much detail as possible for you to help answer my questions.

My .htaccess is as follows:
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mysite.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ http://www.mysite.com/ [R=301,L]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ forum/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^similarsitename.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.similarsitename.com$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.mysite\.com" [R=301,L]

I got it working for forums, polls & threads. Unfortunately it does not include any of my blogs into the sitemap. Since there are over 7000 of blogs, it would be nice to have it fully spidered.

Because of that I upgraded recently the blogs to the latest 2.0.3 and regenerated the sitemap. Anyway no blog results in the sitemap.

vB 3.8.7 + vBlogs 2.0.3

What kind of magic will include my blogs into the sitemap?

what would cause this to stop auto-submitting at night? Is it because I'm still on 3.8.6 PL1? I really didn't think that would matter. I plan on upgrading to 8.7, in a few days.

It always worked fine, and I've had this installed for quite a while now, and am VERY happy with the product...but all of a sudden it stopped submitting, as I always get an email after it goes through. (usually around 2 am, my time..)

Since using this for a few months now.

I am getting links in google which contain and extra space (or %20)

http://www.binderplanet.com/FORUMS%20/showthread.php?t=65130

It does load which is odd.. but the style isn't applied correctly because it can't find the images..
(remove the space and see what I mean..)

I was sure it was a setting somewhere that had a space at the end of it but I can't find it.. and everything else is working great on the site.. just started recently..

Anyone got any ideas where to look.

define(VBSEO_NOTLOGGEDIN_GID, 8);

If visitors can't see threads or forums they can't be in your sitemap. If someone follows a link to your forum from google and the page isn't accessible to them as google indexed it they can report you and google will remove you from their database.

All pages are accessible, But guests are required to login or register.
I don't think it will be a problem, because there is no HTTP error like 404 etc.
All pages are accessible after logging in.

Many sites are using "Member Bots" Mod, But i never heard this problem.
Also if this option would restricted for search engines, Why vbSeo added this definition/option on its file.
define(VBSEO_NOTLOGGEDIN_GID, 8);

Here is script explaining us it's possible, but not working..
I just want settings for this option changing default usergroup ID for Guests.

You can't require them to register to see posts. What googlebot sees must have the same content as a guest not logged in would see.

I can understand you, Thanks.
But a member (Developer of this product) has replied about this:

Also Here is vBulletin Link for MemberBot:

Is vbulletin publishing mods like that (Out of SearchEngines policies) or giving permission for publishing this mods in its forums.

As I said, I just need How to change default usergroup for guests for vBseo Sitemap Generator.

Can Anybody solve that ?

Listen, this is the last I will say about this, you can make up your own decision...

however this quote from your link:

There are a lot of websites out on the net that require you to register or even pay to see content. Yet, they're indexed and served in Google. If this was a rampant violation of their terms of service, then they'd clearly state it. Again, it's your choic to use this mod or not. If you are extremely worried, then don't use it. Simple as that!

Is just flat out wrong. There is no major site that does that because it is indeed the very definition of "cloaking" and will get you banned from google.

Before you accept his comment find for yourself just 1 major site that does this. You can't- because there are none. There are sites that do "tricks" but trust me there is no major site that gets their pages indexed by google and then requires you to register or pay to see them- even free registration.

One example is http://www.experts-exchange.com/. If your a computer/technology person you may often find them in google as an answer to a technical question.

If I send you a link to a "solution" say this one: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Backup_Restore/Q_27297469.html

You can't see it without registering... scroll to the very bottom... nothing.

But if you search for it in google:
http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&safe=off&source=hp&q=Cloud+Backup+and+Imaging+Recommendation+experts+ exchange&pbx=1&oq=Cloud+Backup+and+Imaging+Recommendation+experts +exchange&aq=f&aqi=&aql=1&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1067l5819l0l6002l18l18l0l0l0l0l238l2315l5.1 1.2l18l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.&fp=44341265e68b94f2&biw=1735&bih=1256

It is the first real link on the page... follow it from google.

Now scroll to the bottom.

Look- Now ALL the answers are visible at the bottom of the page. It still looks like you need to pay and register to see the answers, but if you keep scrolling they are all there.

Why? Because they HAVE to be or else experts-exchange would be banned from google.

See they use a trick- they check the page referrer in the script- if you are referred from google you get to see the answers for free. If you are referred from somewhere else, say from here, you don't get any answers.

So once again, and for the last time, no matter what someone tells you, you are not allowed to cloak content from google and that includes requiring free registration.

Thanks for your care and opinions about Google Policies,
I asked this matter to google (as being First Party).

And My Opinion: IPB Sofware has this option as default and I know too many site always upwards of searches.
However This is not Google Policies discusscion thread, this is vbseo sitemap generator mod thread.

It will not ping yahoo. Its a problem with yahoo not vBSEO Sitemap. There is a thread on it on the vBSEO forum.

You cannot open a gzip compressed file in your browser. Browsers do not read it like a html page. You submit the sitemap to search engines. If you want a physical page you have to enter your admincp and then go into your vBSEO sitemap in the menu and enter your password and then there is a link to view the sitemap in your browser there.

i am getting this exact same error. followed all instructions to a T and added the mod rewrite to the bottom of my .htaccess file. I have other mod rewrites working fine in that same file.

I can access the sitemaps manually by going to the vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder - they all get generated there. but i want to automate it and i believe that involes having it being accessible from myurl/xxxxxxxx.xml.gz which i dont at the moment.

its holding me off from buying the commercial version atm and would appreciate any help.

Please help! Since upgrading to version 3.0 on september 17th 2011, no sitemaps were generated anymore.

On my other forum version 2.5 is still running which is working without problems.
What's can be the problem with version 3.0?

When I run the generator manually, no sitemap is created, I only see this from the addons:
[addon module] vbseo_sm_vba.php [5,168.5Kb mem used] [19,582,651s (+19,582,584s)]
[addon module] vbseo_sm_downloads2.php [5,187.6Kb mem used] [19,582,651s (+0s)]

Found another problem, now even when downgrading 2.5:
Your Google Sitemap Index URL: http://www.myforums.org/sitemap_index.xml instead of
Your Google Sitemap Index URL: http://www.myforums.org/sitemap_index.xml.gz
The index.xml.gz isn't created either.

I got 2.5 working again. The downloads2.php module does not correspondent with the downloads II mod. I now used the downloads.php module.

Edit: Version 3.0 now also working ok with downloads.php module for downloads II mod.

Edit2: Installed 2.5 again, 3.0 is giving way to much errors on webmastertools like:
can't read because it couldn't read a xml file in xsl format, tags_xml gave a 404 and stuff like that.

Now I only have problem with the downloads.php addon, will fix this later, gives a parse error.

Black Tiger
04-29-2012, 11:14 PM
Can anyone please help? I have RSJelle's downloads II installed.
Getting a parse error now when the files should get into the sitemap generator:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://www.mydomain.org/sitemap_5.xml.gz
Line Number 11433, Column 63: <loc>http://www.mydomain.org/bbs/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1</loc>
--------------------------------------------------------------^

The ^ sign is pointing at the = sign of id=1 (look with Firefox).
Seems a semicolon is missing or something. I'm using the downloads.php addon, because if I use the downloads2.php addon, the sitemap won't even be completed.
There must be a mistake somewhere in the downloads.php addon. Any clues?

Black Tiger
04-30-2012, 05:01 PM
I now remember this problem. I posted a fix for this 3 years ago. Unfortunately this mod is so badly supported, in spite of the fact that it is ported to version 3.0, the fix was never implemented.

It's the downloads.php addon which has some false xml statements.
A correct vbseo_sm_downloads.php (for rsjelle's downloads II mod) should read this (marked the changes in red):
if(!defined('VBSEO_SMDIR'))exit;
$mods = $db->query
("SELECT id,name FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "dl_cats ORDER BY `id`");
while ($mod = $db->fetch_array($mods))
{
$url = $vbseo_vars['bburl'].'/downloads.php?do=cat&id='.$mod['id'];
if(VBSEO_ON)
$url = vbseo_any_url($url);
vbseo_add_url($url, 1.0, '', 'daily');
}
$mods = $db->query("SELECT id as fid FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "dl_files");
while ($mod = $db->fetch_array($mods))
{
$url = $vbseo_vars['bburl'].'/downloads.php?do=file&id='.$mod['fid'];
if(VBSEO_ON)
$url = vbseo_any_url($url);
vbseo_add_url($url, 1.0, '', 'daily');
}
?>

Again... same problem after 3 years. I hope vbSeo will correct this some time.

Hi Everyone -

I added this sitemap generator to my forum. Now, I am trying to submit my sitemap to google webmaster tools and I can't figure it out.

Is the "sitemap index" what I submit? If so, the url that is shown takes me to a 404(Page Not Found) Error.

Would one of you be able to tell me how to do this?

I'm getting a often seen error that several search engines are not pinged.
Google ping: Successful.
Bing ping: FAILED.
Yahoo ping: FAILED.
Ask ping: FAILED.

As is to be read on vbseo, nothing could be done because Bing and Yahoo turned of this ping services.

However.... ask ping should still be working.
Also when I read on the vbseo forum, Bing ping IS still working this way:

http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yoursite.com%2F sitemap_index.xml.gz
But I can't reply there because I don't have vBSeo itself, only got this sitemap generator.

When I'm going to have a look into the code, I see this:
$vbseo_stat['pingbing'] = vbseo_sitemap_ping_one(
'http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap='.urlencode($url),
'Thanks for');

Is there no way to change those last lines so Bing will work again with the code supplied above? Or maybe I can put my forum url hardcoded in this code so it matches the working link mentioned aboven. But how would I have to change this exactly?

Smitty
09-21-2012, 01:24 AM
Well.... I installed this about a month ago. For me it pings both Google and Bing. I did look at the output and the sitemap_index.xml.gz points to the sitemap files being located in my forum root rather than /forum/vbseo_sitemap/data/

I don't know enough to know what the scoop is, but after I run a sitemap, which I do about every 3 to 5 days, I *immediately* copy the sitemap files to my forum root with a 1 line "script" via ssh. This is an old mod and it hasn't been updated in a very long time so....

That said, I do not have vBSEO installed, so I may have missed something in the config. when I installed it.

I can not say whether a sitemap in a forum is important or not - I did it for the heck of it and haven't really noticed any difference. Google and Bing crawl either way.

A last thought is that many people argue (I believe correctly) that sitemaps are not of of significant value. Once a search engine "sniffs" your site it will crawl it. As long as you have laid out your site navigation well it should find everything. Maybe not as fast as you would like (and sitemaps do not give you a "magic" lift in the serps or a "faster" crawl), but I finally decided it can't (shouldn't?) hurt so I installed it and included it in my weekly schedule.

As always - YMMV

By the way - I decided to take a look at the index files. Despite what you set in the vBSEO preferences for the sitemap(s), it sets *yearly* as the update frequency. Not Good. After seeing that I may stop using it.

I think that right now, 20 September 2012, that this mod is seriously flawed.

Smitty
09-21-2012, 02:02 AM
I did find one thing in the vbseo_sitemap_config.php file: //define('VBSEO_DAT_FOLDER', dirname(__FILE__) . '/../'); // choose this to place sitemap files directly to your vB root which I un-commented. I'll look to see if it works next time. But - I still have a *serious* issue with the <changefreq>yearly</changefreq> for every thread, etc. being marked as a yearly update. That doesn't make sense in a forum where many threads are updated daily, not to mention it shows that the vBSEO Sitemap options in the admin control panel do not necessarily do what you set them to do.

So is the .htaccess file in this plugin wrong? I just installed it and I can see the sitemaps have been created in my /data folder, but I noticed the instructions/options page states:

By default the vBSEO Sitemap files will be located in your forum root. Use this field to specify a different location, for example, your site root: http://www.yourdomain.com

This isn't true though. Also, I think there must be something wrong with the .htaccess file that they provide you, because Google Webmaster Tools gives a 404 error as it's trying to access the forum root.

What file exactly are you meant to submit in to the Sitemap box on Google Webmaster tools?

Ok updated advice:

Do a check to see if your rewrite is working properly, so in .htaccess add:

RewriteRule ^/rwtest http://www.google.com [R]

Then go to www.yourdomain.com/rwtest and it should redirect you to Google. If it doesn't then it might be that your host hasn't setup .htaccess properly and you might need to add the rewrite stuff to your httpd.conf file or get them to enable .htaccess.

Once you get test running then this worked for me:

RewriteRule ^/((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

Then at Google, for the Sitemap, enter:

http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz

And test it, should work now.

If you have an active vBSEO license, I believe you can download a later version from vBSEO. It is not part of the standard vBSEO installation.

It seems vbSEO has been abandoned.
Meanwhile the search engine landscape is radically changing.

Really a pity. Search engines aren't notified anymore either.:(

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

This is a rule for htaccess. And if my forum works on the basis of ngnix, how it will look in the rule for ngnix?

My sitemap_1.xml.gz has some links like

www.mydomain.com/a/index2.html
www.mydomain.com/a/index3.html
...
...

and I can't explain myself where they come from.
They all end up in 404 which create a lot of Google errors.

Does somebody know what kind of links are these and how I can delete this URLs from the sitemap?

Thanks
