Upload all files and directories including at "vbulletin" directory to the directory where vBulletin is installed.
CMOD the following directories to 777
/photos (inside classifieds directory)
/tmp (inside classifieds/photos directory)

For security reasons backup your database AND turn your board off
Check at your AdminCP->vBulletin Options->Plugin/Hook System that Plugin system is enabled.
From your AdminCP->Plugin System->Manage Products choose Add/Import Product and import the product: product_classifieds.xml
If you want to add a link to your nav bar then you must edit the NAVBAR template:

If you've installed vbSEO, Login into vbSEO Control Panel, click "Custom Rewrite Rules", insert rewrite rules (attached in vbseo-rules.txt to not lose formatting) and save settings.4.- Copyright

Currently it support vbcredits for posting ads (and vb points too). Please note that it's difficult for maintance if I've to follow up any updates of other modules. vB itself has enought updates to follow.

Got around to installing this tonite, One issue I've had is when you click the Classifieds link it opens with the default VB style.
Kind of odd since I have the forum set up to only use one style and not the default.
Any ideas what causes that?

Soz. I'm getting a blank page at /classifieds.php with nothing at all on it except white. No error messages anywhere. Admin backend for the mod is working fine, as is the usergroup permissions.

Im running firefox 3.0.6 but am getting the same issue on ie7.

I followed the install directions to the letter.

An Ad becomes Premium or Sponsored according to usergroup permissions. eg you can setup Registered user to have 0 Premium and 0 Sponsored, while you can setup a usergroup xxx which can has 1 or xx Premium and 0 Sponsored etc.
This way you can setup many different usergroups and assign to them paid subscriptions.

That's correct. Also note that there is an important option in Classifieds->Options (AdminCP). To allow or not a user to change the title. This is to avoid users to pay for one Ad and then (with the same money) to change it to another one.
If you're running a Free Classifieds site you can turn it On (Allow changes), otherwise let it Off.

and tell me if it works?... Seems that that '/' at the end is a typo.

In this case, I think that I'll remove vbseo rules from the package. I'm not familiar with them and the only reason that I added them is because I know that many members wanted to have them. I paid (a lot I can say) money to someone to write them. Is not bad to admit that I don't know even how vbseo works in the site. I prefer to continue with my own code which I can support.

You should contact VBSEO they are really good over there at helping get the re-write rules working correctly.

1. make fields mandatory or options
2. allow integer as type
3. have a variable set to check if the classifieds site is free (show no paypal/payment block on ad creation page)
4. optional fields are shown too close together, space them a little?

5. ads can still be added to a parent category even if option is set to no ads allowed (atleast by a administrator level user)..

Don't pull it out of the package yet, see what vbSEO says. I'd put a note in the package to comment out the first line of the vbSEO rules. But other than that, leave it in.

I agree, can we get a quick fix to this please!!!

I rather have them complete the sale through e-mail than paypal, that way if a person sold the item and forgot to take the item off the classified section a members doesnt come along and purchase the item and have to figure out how to get his money back if its already sold.

I noticed a lot of uncached template warnings at the bottom of the classifeds pages, that may be related.

I'm running Classifieds on my private test forum at the moment, so there's only me browsing it.

Havent installed this yet, have a few questions first.
Since i'm running an forum for an online game called GuildWars and want to start an auction page for ingame items wich will be payed for only ingame not for real money, is it possible to define an ingame currency ?
And do people have to fill a address form, because this isnt really needed in this case because it's all about ingame items ?

I have the same probleme, only admin cazn upload photo, other usergroups can't upload any photo i change the number of photos aloweded for each usergroup but any change.

At least for me, this is happening many times in different 3nd party mods, even in vb mods (like vbProjectTools). I believe that it's not coming from vB itself but from a server's slow down at that time. Try again.

A newbie question regarding adding a new currency:
I want to add local currency in the first line followed by EURO and USD American.
Should I modify imported .xml file on first 3 lines on currency (replacing other currency existing there) and reupload the product file ?
Does currency positions there are used somewhere else and if I edit I crash it?

Can I edit also the pull down menue with country to have my country selected by default (and where)?

It will be great to have possibility to sell more identical items with one add , like keeping the add posted after a successful sell until items number reach 0.

Where can i edit in templates the pull down menu Options where you can select to buy the item ... First time using this I have looked at the add and could not find the link Buy now!

You wouldn't want your buyers to not find the door to get in, after they decide to want to buy :D

Hello Jeff,

Please make sure that you're logon as admin and permissions for "use classifieds" are On. Sometimes there is a confusion among members that if they've enabled "Can add", assumes that they can also use it.

Possible small bug: I have found that that is no link attached to Delete Bookmark when you browse your bookmarks. I assume it should be a link whit it to remove it from Bookmarks.

easy - delete folder that contained the classifieds and delete the plugin too

You can uninstall it as every vB product. Goto your admicp->Plugins & Products. On the list on the right choose Classifieds and from the droplist choose Uninstall.
Sorry but your problem has nothing to do with the module itsself but it has to do with your server configuration, and I'm not a server guru to know what halts it from working.

I got it installed and working. But I cannot upload any photo's. I select a photo to include with the ad and I don't get any error message, just the new ad posted without a photo.

Seems that for some reason during the time that you're writting the Ad, you're loosing the session (you logout by the system). At that part, and for more security, there are 2 permissions checks. One during entering the form (which you pass it) and the 2nd when the system is trying to save the data. Seems that at this point the system can't authenticate you.

Yes...

When you create your categories, you can set the following:

Action on Item expiration Hide or Delete
Number of days after which ad expires (0 = no expiration) In this category only



then when actually creating/placing an ad:

Expires at (laeve empty for no expiration): choose your date for expiration


So I would think the best choice might be to set the category setting to something like 30 days and then individual ads to 7, 14, etc....

Well, I've got this installed and added a category to test. I have my usergroup set to allow me to post an ad but am having the same problem as the poster above. If I'll have some free time I'll post blocks for vBa next weekend. But in general, you can use the query including in classifieds.php or classifieds/includes/functions.php

I think that it should works. Paste the code in a file and name it as_you_want.php Upload it to vBa modules directory and then from your AdminCP choose: vBa CMPS->Add Module->PHP File and setup it as:

Display order : Better let it blank
Active : YES
Update all pages : It's up to you
File to include : From the droplist choose the right file

Seems that for some reason during the time that you're writting the Ad, you're loosing the session (you logout by the system). At that part, and for more security, there are 2 permissions checks. One during entering the form (which you pass it) and the 2nd when the system is trying to save the data. Seems that at this point the system can't authenticate you.

This is a great mod and for a regular forum, Im sure its fantastic, but Id actually USE it if it were a little more versatile.

Its an add on of vB yet it does not actually integrate. When something is sold via an ad, there is no notification of any kind on the forum.

PayPal is the ONLY payment option. I dont know about other genre forums, but in gaming, PayPal is notoriously not welcome due to ease of chargeback.

In gaming, some items are virtual game items and selling for real money is illegal. You dont give any kind of way to modify the money values to anything other than the drop down list.

Yours is like the 100th Classifieds script/mod I have tried on my site. >< Gamers need more generalized products!

I was able to duplicate this error by visiting 2 sites. The only that I can say is that in both sites I saw something strange, all fields to be with default value "1", something that it's not coming from my code. Also, I noticed that both sites are using custom smilies, something that maybe causes the problem.

I'm sorry but I can't do something more, as I don't have 3.8.x installed, and because this issue happen only to small percentage of 3.8 installations, which means that they have a system misconfiguration.

Looking at the code in FireBug it does look like the default value of "1" is in your code:.

This is the output producted by the browser:) . If you check the code at: classifieds.php line 135, it says:

$adid = $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('r', 'adid', TYPE_UINT);


It's a vB's standard command to check that the variable adid (if exists) is secure of injections. On Add mode this must be 0, in edit mode it must has the classifieds id. For some unknown reason it get's value 1.

If it was coming from the code, all users should have the same problem. But as you can see in a total of 100+ installations (for all vB versions), there are only 2 issues. Also note that none developer can check all 3nd party mods that someone may has installed, or different server configurations. This mod has been developed with 3.6.8 in a fresh vB installation and with NONE 3nd party addon/module.

Ok, I've to admit that my English are is an average level, but I don't think so difficult to understand. It means: Upload all files and directories that you can find in the folder "vbulletin" (in you PC after unziping the classifieds.zip), at the directory where you've installed vBulletin. Some users name it forums, others community and some other upload it on the root directory. In simple words my classifieds.php file must be on the same directory (level) as the index.php file of vBulletin.

I would LOVE to install this mod and would be happy to also pay $$$ for a branding-free option.

But the ONE MUST HAVE feature that seems to be missing in all these types of mods is a DISTANCE feature.

The vast majority of the internet forums are national and international. AND many needs for classified ads are NOT for products that can be shipped anywhere. My need is for PET listings for local adoptions and for local sources of hard-to-find, doesn't-make-sense-to-ship products and materials. I really need the ability for someone to be able to find ads that are NEAR THEM.

With google maps, this isn't as difficult as it used to be. You don't need zipcode tables anymore. All you need is latitude and longitude of the listing and the user to get the logic to work.

Filtering by Country, State, County, and Area Code would also be great.

Please, with honey and sugar on top, consider adding this capability to your application.

Well, I can't say that I'm angry or upset or ..or.... But really I'm totally disappointed from your reaction Jeff. I came in to your site, I spent time to register, I was waiting 10 hours to activate my account to be able to login and test it.

Well ... well... well... That's a very pitty story:cool: A year ago, I post here a module named vbFEngine. Nobody understood it's power. Seems that most users want plug-and-play module. It's my best module and it has the less downloads.:cool: Ok, I admit that it needs time for initial configuration. But it's a one time action.

Anything you wrote above is possible with that, and much more. Let's count the most important features:

Extra fields per category/subcategory/thirdcategory
Extra field type: 10 types (even for video, audio, zip search)
Unlimited (and different) rating questions per category/subcategory/thirdcategory
3 types of interaction with other members. Just rating, amazon style reviews (I agree/Disagree), seperat forum thread for each post.
.... and many more:DThis module it's just a simple classifieds for general purposes.

The issue was I misunderstood the upload instruction and uploaded the vBulletin

I had the same thought, and tried it both ways, however i get the same blank page on classifieds.php. Im pretty sure it has nothing to do with my server setup and everything to do with the mod itself. Uninstalled.

Check the files:

classifieds.php
classifieds/includes/functions.phpif they have an empty line at the end, after ?> Also try to remove the empty line before ?> . Sometimes it causes problem to browsers. Do the same check for empty lines at the top before <?

Yes as mentioned. I have installed many things. I checked what I have done 3 times :)
I also erased the blank space at the end of the classifieds.php and classifieds/includes/functions.php as suggested....but still a white page :(

Have you setup for user to not be able to change Theme? In anycase, try a trick. Open classifieds.php and change 46:

From:

$vbulletin->userinfo['styleid'] = $styleid;


To:

$vbulletin->userinfo['styleid'] = $vbulletin->options["classifieds_styleid"];

* Product Variance Calculations (Price changes depending on the choices picked in the drop box

* Quantity option. Availablility to have the people buy more than 1 of the item on 1 order.

Hello Dan,

If you're sure that you've uploaded the file /includes/xml/bitfields_classifieds.xml then, in your admincp press F5 to refresh the page. Please note that sometimes Classifieds permissions appears at the top and not at the end of the list of permissions.

I have tweaked the main 'item display' page because I felt the layout (especially the options) was badly arranged from a usability point of view.

Sorry, I know this must be a stupid question but where does it give the viewer a chance to purchase an item being listed? I added two test items, entered my paypal address for each item.

The ad shows up, I see everything except a link where the viewer can purchase the item.

You will also be hard pressed to see the 'purchase' options, since everything is tucked away in a drop down 'options' menu.

Bypassing this, the only that I've to say is that everything is depending on user's taste. I'm the first (and maybe the only one) who never followed vB's standards on interface. I liked to use fieldsets instead of tables, HTML editor instead of vB editor, real categories and not threads.

But the fact is that most members here prefer the standard interface, that's why Classifieds (after 9 other mods), was the first one which follows the vB standards for menus. And you like it or not, "Buy Now" is a menu option, and all menus must be set in popups.

I meant no offence. I'm sorry if my choice of words bothered you, but I stand by the fact that it is badly arranged.

This does not mean i am ungrateful for the mod. If you decide to take offence at some honest to goodness well meant critisism then thats hardly my fault. I can pussy foot around and say 'not the best it could be' or dress it all up in other clothing but I'm not the kind of guy to beat around the bush.

I am a developer, long time user of the internet and specialise to some degree in usability. If I (and others in this thread) had a problem finding the 'buy it now' or equivelent action items along with other options then you can bet your ass that a lot of other people will to.

I am sorry you seem to be so offended and I guarantee that 100% I did not mean to harm your feeling.

Have you setup for user to not be able to change Theme? In anycase, try a trick. Open classifieds.php and change 46:

nope... it's per overall. I just verified it ...

I set the images=2 for my usergroup
I had two existing ads, both have one image each in them.
I tried to add a 2nd image to one of the ads and it said " You don't have permissions to add more photos. Please upgrade, or remove old ones"

I changed the usergroup and set images=3, it and allowed me to add the 2nd image to the ad giving me a total of three ads.

I tried to create a new ad, tried to upload an image for the new ad and it again said: " You don't have permissions to add more photos. Please upgrade, or remove old ones"

So maybe your latest version might have the setting on a "per ad" basis but the version I have, (just before your newest one today), is on a "per user" basis.

Just to be double sure, I checked your code:

By adding lot's of restrictions, means lots of checks, something that is not so good to performance. Sometimes by using just simple logic is better. By allowing just gif,jpg,png on a max width eg 600, the photo only in a very few situations should be more than 200kb. So why to add one more restriction? I can accept this filesize restriction on audio and video files, but not on photos.

I can have a 4000x4000 image that is less than 20k.
If I set the limit to 800x600 in the options, this image, although very small in bytes, would not be allowed if I set the limits based on width/height.

The check can be for size in pixels, or the check can be for size in bytes. You chose dimensions - I respect your decision, but I don't necessarily agree with it.

btw: I had already added the multiple file upload before you released your 1.10 yesterday... I also added the ability to upload in .zip format and.... added additional "pay" options, added a maximum number of active ads per usergroupid option, and... changed the ad listings to show the title, the user, the price, and the expire date in tabular format in the "classifieds_categorieslistingadline" instead of just the title of the ad. Your original code however saved me a ton of work and for that, I definitely thank you.

Bad luck for me, being 1st child of a 5 children family, I had to stop the hight school and start working since my age of 15, to be give the opportunity to the upcoming boys of the family to be able to study. I have the same problem and your fix doesn't help. I want the style selection to work like all other vbulletin pages or an option to not use a specific Style.

I made comment on this row $vbulletin->userinfo['styleid'] = $styleid; and now it works the way I wan't.

No luck here... I ran away from home when I was 16, got a job and finished high school on my own in a city 200 miles from my parents. Worked to pay for college , dropping out whenever I ran out of money, back in again when I had saved enough for a semester or two. It took me 6 years to get a 4-year undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering... worked 10 years in research and development at Cummins Engine, then quit my job and went back to get a masters in computer science at age 35.

btw: I taught college programing for a while to help get me thru grad school - your coding is pretty good... especially for being self-taught - kudos to you.

Try a trick that I found that sometimes works. From vBulletin Options choose Cookies and HTTP headers options and set to NO GZIP HTML Output.

what is the link to your forum?

add classified.php to that link and it should work

ie. if the link is http://yourwebsite/forum
use http://yourwebsite/forum/classifieds.php

Is it possible to use this with "virtual" currency? Actually, I'd rather NO currency. I'd like for people to be able to put up an add and say "this much" but not have any sort of paypal, etc...

Basically, I have members that offer virtual items in a game. I don't want anything to do with real money, etc. More of a "contract" if you will if someone buys something.

As you go on to this, if a usergroup does not have the permission to delete their classified ad, is there anyway you could code it so the menu option does not exist for that usergroup? As it stands now, the delete selection is there, and it blows a permission error php page, which can be confusing for users.

I have added a new currency (local one, used most often) by editing xml file and adding in both locations where those 12 currencies and I have add the 13th.
I re upload the product and it appears in the menu but when selected the (RON) sign does not appear in the add next to the amount as in other currencies. If I select other currency all works.

I have used same format "...selected</if> >Lei Noi (RON)</option>" as in the rest.

How can I add RON next to the amount?

How can I put RON as default currency (already selected) instead of Australian Dollar ?
I just edit xml file and put RON in number 1 and move Australian dollar? My guess is I need to do more...

it's the same problem I am having now on my new server - worked fine on my test server which was windows but I moved everything over to the new redhat server today and now, all uploads are failing - I'm guessing that it's a permissions problem on the server.

EDIT: Found my problem... my linux distro did not have GD installed. Look at your phpinfo and make sure you see GD installed. I ended up having to do a:

yum install php-gd
service httpd restart

and everything lit up !

Would there be any way of restricting a user group to only being able to submit Paid Adverts and another usergroup to Free Adverts?

I ask this as what we would like to do is allow paid up members of the forum (our VIP members) to be able to advertise anything they like for free and standard registered users to have to pay to advertise.

We've had a lot of issues of people signing up to the forum just to sell something and then buggering off, this does nothing for the community. If they have to pay to place an advert then that is at least a small contribution to the community.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Have you setup for user to not be able to change Theme? In anycase, try a trick. Open classifieds.php and change 46:

From:

$vbulletin->userinfo['styleid'] = $styleid;


To:

$vbulletin->userinfo['styleid'] = $vbulletin->options["classifieds_styleid"];

As for adding new currency I did not find post here how to do it but I have edited xml file by searching for USD and you will find 2 instances where currency appear. You need to copy and add extra line in both instances with your currency. Re-upload xml. Do not change what it is but just add 13th line with your currency in both locations.

The "foreach" code is:
foreach($photos['name'] as $key => $photoname)

Had the code ever entered the "foreach" loop, there would have been a LOT more entries logged instead of the last "done with upload". I could be wrong but it looks to me like the "upload" code broke when multiple image upload was added in 1.10

I JUST DOUBLED CHECKED TO BE SURE... I USED THE UPLOAD CODE FROM VERSION 1.0 AND THE UPLOAD WORKED FINE.

I have a custom stylee for my site and it is the only theme enabled in style manager. My custom style works fine with all the other mods I have in place but I have a problem with this mod. The style is working fine for all accounts except the administrator account, my admin accounts reverts back to the default style whenever I load this mod.

I am able to see the mod fine with my custom theme when I am logged into a lower privileged account and able to browse the site fine as a guest.

Any Ideas?

well now.. this is working again now, it did not work because i created a new usergroup and forgot to add permissions for it.. as soon as i did add them the classifieds works again and uploaded all the pictures?..

Check your server's configuration. If something is not working due to error in coding, it dosen't works for all. It's impossible to work for some and not for the rest. And if you read the posts, you'll see that most of the users came back saying "Oh sorry, I forgot this... or I forgot that".

As you can read above, it was "Maybe" and not definitely as you came so easy to your post. He has forgotten to setup usergroup permissions.

Plug the code into an SQL statement from the mysql command line and you'll see that it is PER USER and NOT per ad.

i have update - my classifieds is working perfectly - no issues so far but its clashing with other mods - its shows up the blank page but when i disable the other mod - the classifield is working fully
the mod that causing the problem was VBcommerce and VBcredit from VBcredit com - which i use for my forum
i don't uninstall yet but i like see a updates and bug fixes soon as can

Ummm, I am NOT using vbA... I am using vbCMPS, which is a FRONT PAGE hack .... I am using vBulletin 3.8.1.

I, like many others am having issues. All i get is the BLANK WHITE PAGE. I have read this entire thread and tried every suggestion there is in here and still I could not get it to work. I am not knocking your hack, I simply stated that it must not work with vbCMPS. I dont have any of the other mods that are listed as conflicts here, so it must be the vbCMPS.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and still I get the blank white page....

The reason I did not change the 0 is because that usually means unlimited in VB.

The reason I did not change the 0 is because that usually means unlimited in VB.

I had mine set to 10000 as the Admin and I still would not work for me. I dont know why, but all I had was a blank white page. I dont know which hack it was interfering with, but it had to be something as all of the instructions were followed to a T. No errors on the install, so it has to be a conflict somewhere.
