Even if you correct mentioned that is not on your business, I want to spend some time to close this "hot topic".
There is no copyright for general purpose words. eg food, cinema, sales etc can't be copyrighted.
Copyright goes to words without any general meaning in conjuction with a logo. eg if you're old in age, at the 1981 there was an argue between Sanyo and Sanio. Finally Sanio won.
There is a difference between vbclassifieds and classifieds. Hope that you can understand it.
I asked from the author of vbClassifieds.com, to show me papers to prove his copyright. He said that he has nothing (simple because it was impossible to get copyright for a common word).That's hor the history. Please don't hijack the thread again. If the author of vbclassifieds thinks that there is a copyright issue, he will contact vB.org admins to solve the issue.

Sorry but there is no manual. You can modify the templates to meet your needs, on the same way that you can modify all vB templates.

Don't I've this feature? Sorry but at that time I was developing classifieds and vbengine together. In vbEngine for sure exists. But I thought that I've added it to classifieds too. No, should not be any paid version.

Thanks for clarifying copyrighted Mary. There are such things as intellectual property rights as well as owning legally the right to ones own invention. Personally, I think it is a copy of the same code (Yours) of Vbclassifieds. No Hijack, but buyer beware, the fact is your in dispute with Ken at VBClassifieds.

you'll see that the author admits that there is no code stealing, just name confusion:

As for vBFClassifieds, please understand that they did not steal the vBClassified code. I looked at their free version and it is not based on the same database logic or structure. Yup, classifieds does not have mandatory/optional yet.... waiting.....

Also, i was able to post to a category where posting was not allowed (it had subcategories where posting was allowed). not sure if it was coz of being a admin user, or if it is a bug.

Ok - now *I* am having the blank page problem, too! At first this did not happen. Was able to start an ad, view the whole area, etc... made no changes to it and came back to view it today and it's blank. I'm running 3.8.1 and v 1.2.0 of the classifieds and it's blank.

I did the GZIP "fix" as described - no help.

Ah... I see... I disabled all plug-ins and then enabled them one by one. While I don't have any problems running vBa CMPS with classifieds - when I enabled vbCredits - then I got the white page.

Interesting because it seems that classifieds supports the credits mod??

I have exactly the same. Disabled the plugins and came to find it's interfering with the vBCredits. Posted a ticket there. Does anyone know how to solve it?

That's at least funny to say something like this while there are 200+ installations working well. So, for last time I'm repeating the right procedure:

Set usergroup permissions to upload photos (number of photos). Please note that "0" dosen't means unlimited, but exactly 0 (zero), user can't upload photos.
Uploading images with classifieds is totally independed on how you've setup vB to upload/store images (eg on webspace or in database). All uploading images with classifieds are uploading at: classifieds/photos and classifieds/photos/thumbs for thumbnail.
Double check that directories below first of all exist, and second that they have writting permissions (777):

classifieds/photos/tmpIf everything of above are set correctly then you must be able to upload images. BUT!!! there is a big but.... unfortunatelly I've seen sites having soooo manyyyy mods. That's a sure way to make your vB installation upside-down. Latelly I visited a site to check this problem (not image upload) on my own. Its true that when I tried with admin's details it was impossible to upload. Then I registered as normal user to that site. Guess what I was able to upload. After this I asked the site owner to upgrade my account giving it admin rights. Voila, I was able to upload again. So the fact is that any user, belonging to any usergroup was able to upload except the user "xxxxx". Sorry but after it, you can't say that the error comes from the code. For sure is coming from something wrong in your installation.

OK, solved my problem with the photo uploads... went and edited the "Secondary" User Group permissions to allow photos and now it works!

So if you are still having problems uploading photos to the classified, check what secondary user groups you have and change the photo upload limit to something greater than zero.

I feel this is a minor bug. Shouldnt either 1) only check perms vs primary group OR 2) check the group with the max privs OR 3) provide the group name that does not have the perms to post pics.

Suggestion ,(but backup first!!!!!)
Edit the database by deleting the columns related to old classfields
Of course you lose all previous adds but you can install last version.
It happened to me to other mode with similar error.
Not guaranteed but you can try.

Did I mention to close forum and backup the database before !!! :)

Thanks for the mod. No issues far as I can tell. Works just fine. My needs are simple as am not using paypal and this is for members to post sale items then are contacted via email to work out the details between buyer and seller.

It looks to me like you, Mary, would have to move the classifieds.php to inside the classifieds directory. (I would rename it, listings.php or something) and redo links to the require_once lines in the file, but that should eliminate the issues that people with vbSEO are having.

This is an excellent plugin. I finally got it to work as I wanted.

For those who are still getting blank pages, try to remove the first line of VBSEO custom code; or even remove it altogether and start from there.

Suggestion:
The seller can use Paypal IPN. I would bet members who post classifieds would also love such a feature where they enter their "thank-you-page.html". Once they receive payment, then their visitor is automatically redirected to the thank you page.

This way, their orders can be fulfilled automatically :)

I was wondering if we could get an add-on to this mod to let people know when a new ad has been posted.

For example, I have the groups mod installed that posts a topic in the forum of my choice anytime a new group is formed. It would be great if something like that was available for this mod!!!

this is how i solved it:
in classifieds.php i moved require directives starting at line 88, above require(CDIR.'/includes/init.php');

Hello, and thank you for this awesome mod. Installed and is working fine except for 1 thing so far. I can't get the "Custom Fields" to work. I've added three custom fields, but they don't show up when I'm listing a new item. I would appreciate any advice.

Also, I have paid subscribers on my forum and I would like their ads to be listed always at the top (or in the sponsored section?). How do I do that? So far, the only editing areas I've found are in the "classifieds" section of admincp and the "usergroups" section. Are there any additional places to check?

Have you considered adding a field, or giving the option to add a field that would allow linking to images hosted externally? This could be used to reduce the storage space required by actually hosting the images.

Hope this makes sense .. it's way past my bedtime.

Mary, for what its worth I understand what you are going through on this. Its very frustrating that some people think that just because we offer these things for members at no cost that we automatically will do everything at no cost. People that make posts like that are just +++++++s and you are right a good majority of them are most likely men. I've run into quite a few men who really have a problem with a women who is better than them at something. But keep this in mind its something that I've discovered through my years of being a designer. When they make these hurtful comments to you it because they feel inferior and they know that you are better than them. The only way they see to bring you down is to try and break you down, make fun of you, be an +++++++ etc. Keep in mind the only time they will do this is when they feel threatened, if they "feel" threatened then you are doing something right IMO. It just means they cannot handle you being good at this when they are not. Any one who is truly good as this stuff will not be threatened by you. Instead I would think it would be better to help you & treat you with respect.

Unfortunately those who remove copyrights are always going to be around and do that. Its hard to keep up with it and do anything for them. I personally have always found your work top notch. :)

This is an unfortunate situation, but I respect your decision. I do hope you decide to develop these mods in the future, as they are quite useful. I would personally be interested in purchasing Classifieds, if development and support were provided.

As for the copyright removal from microMembers, some users might have removed it due to the hard coding of the link colors. This is no excuse, of course, but it may have been a factor in the number of offenses. The stock link can look unsightly within some custom styles. Instead of deleting the link, I took the time to delete the color references from memberindex.php.

hi there the only thing that you might have done wrong is not uploaded all the files.
try re-uploading all the files then refreash the admincp before going to the usergroup manager.
There is one other thing that it might be that is that the admincp did not rebiuld the bitfields so try this in the admincp
admincp/index.php?do=buildbitfields

then try the usergroup manager

Try a trick.

Remove includes/xml/bitfield_classifieds
Login to your admincp and goto Usergoups, and just open a usergroup. Normally it must rebuild the bitfields as bitfield_classifieds is missing.
Upload again the file bitfield_classifieds to includes/xml/bitfield_classifieds (please avoid a common mistake uploading it to classifieds/includes/)
Logon again to admincp and try to change again usergroup permissions.Mary

I love this system and I'd like to use it to transition to it from the single forum we use but the items being 'sold' are actually items in an MMO and no real money transactions are taking place. How difficult would it be to:

Add the ability to add/remove currencies
Turn off all PayPal functionality (maybe make this a toggle in the admincp, allow PP On/Off?)
The ability to add/remove fields from the "Buy it now" screen


Basically isolate the system so that people can post, view and 'buy' stuff on the classified system but not interact with any external payment provider. :)

you need to edit the classifieds_approvead template.

find this line

and delete the extra do= so it looks like

Nevermind. My bad. It was a permissions issue with the classifieds module. (RSS bot is not "logged in", so I had to set the permissions for visitors to be able to use the Classifieds).

I will be adding in 2 more payment options for this when i start working on it.
There will be credit card validation and cash payment.
With the cash payment they will only get the goods sent to them once payment has been passed to the seller.

Will you be introducing a Sold feature. So if the seller sells the item they can mark as sold and it will remove the buy it link.

First off, great mod, Installed on my Test forum and am still tweaking it.

Second, I just wasted 45 minutes only to find out that the reason why the photos weren't appearing in my test ads (and not uploading) was due to the usergroup "minimum" restriction. Please post that one line explaining that the value must be set in order for them to appear in your installation instructions, as I would have preferred not to find the answer for that so deep into this thread.

Otherwise, the reason for the blank page for the others is that you simply need to follow the author's instructions for adding the link in your navbar. It requires that value for the page to display properly, otherwise you get the blank page. The install instructions are very clear and concise, and well done.

Again, don't take my comment negatively, I love your mod and am looking forward to implementing it. But adding that one bit of information could have saved me a bunch of time :D

This mod would be 100 times more useful if the payment type could be changed. What if you want to trade the item for another... what if you are advertising a service? What if you are looking for an item and not selling? What if you want this mod for a game? THere are lot of reasons to make the currency options more flexible. Has anyon e worked on this?

What new things would any of you want added to this great module.Shipping options would be a necessity, as my members are spread throughout the globe. It would be nice to be able to define multiple shipping options for each item. For instance, $5.00 for Domestic Shipping or $10.00 for International Shipping. Having the buyer select this manually is acceptable. I look forward to your development of this great mod!

Removed by the Author because:
For 7 mods, there are 1905 downloads but only 577 clicked installed.
For these 577 installs I got 4 donations for Brand Free. Make a simple search on the net using the product name and you'll find that 50% have illegally removed my copyright.
I found 3 vb.org style sites, offering for download my mods but after PAID SUBSCRIPTION, or DONATION
After all, I'll stop be the idiot on this market.

I do know many DL but DO NOT INSTALL, so going by that is useless and the members here on vb.org are not the ones stealing your mod or offering it for sale as we had access to DL it all day long, I have DL'd but after review did not install, I was waiting on the update micheal posted. Forgive me all as I normally never cross the line but you Maria are somewhat of a twat for removing this IMO. If you wish to reply to that then do it via PM, as I see it this is no longer your thread as it has no relevancy to the site any longer.

Micheal, if you can and it does not infringe on Maria's rights can you possibly release a similar version of this? I will donate if it helps as I was really looking forward to this.
