Attention:

Those of you that are using vb advance for your portal page, adding a simply re-direct page before your forum folder will solve all your blank page issues when clicking link to Radio & TV on vba pages., without editing any templates or modifying this mod in any way.

Follow install instructions exactly as they are layed out for you, change nothing.

Download the attached re-direct radioandtv.php file and add it via ftp before your forum folder, you should not be ask to over-write anything. Don't over-write if ask to.

Why is the re-direct page named the same as the radioandtv.php that comes with this mod?

Answer: When you click radio & tv on your vba page, you will see in the address bar of the pop-up screen http:yoursite.com/radioandtv.php. We all know we didn't install this mod before our forum folder, so it does not exist, thus causing you to receive a blank page.
With this simple re-direct page, your guest will not receive a blank page, they will automatically be re-directed to http://yoursite.com/forum/radioandtv.php.
Its named the same because when you click radio & tv on your vba pages, its trying to find radio&tv.php outside the forum folder.

With this, you do not need to edit any templates, thats the best part.

Install instructions.

Download the re-direct radioandtv.php
Open it with your favorite editor, the only thing you will need to change is "forum" if your forum folder is named differently. Save your edit, if any.
Upload it to your site root, before the forum folder.
Then go to your vba page and click the Radio & TV link & enjoy!

Note: This will not effect your radio & tv link while viewing vbulletin pages.

Redirect pages can be found on Google, thats where I got this.

There is not by much information in that report to go by. Not even the version is mentioned, so it might be about an older version.

Thanks Blind Eddie - It worked thanks for your help. I have been able to install all the steps including navbar changes, which looks great - BUT the new link Radio and TV link won't work !. I get no response from clicking the link !. There's a small text at the bottom of my screen that reads: 'Javascript: openRadioAndTV ()'. I think it might be trying to access or getting the javascript to work, but not successful. I remember reading somewhere not to forget to install the javascript on the page - but I did'nt see how to do this on the install read file. There was a javascript.php file on the download - but I have not used it. Is there a particular page where to upload or export this javascript. Please advise how and where.

I've installed the mod into my forum and the installation itself works well. Now, I'm stuck. In the Install.txt file, step three says "Reload your Admin Control Panel, go to Radio and TV >> Import / Export Stations"

The only problem is I can't find "Radio and TV" in the menu. Is it hidden somewhere on the lefthand menu or am I completely blind?

Did you upload de cpnav file? That file should add the item to the left menu in the admin cp. To see it you would need to reload the admin cp.

When i try to add new stations they does not work.

Another issue: The real player doesn't show on the embedded box on some computers with IE, but it shows on Firefox. I have Real Player as the default.

I think there is perhaps no need to add many new features. Radio & TV add on is nearly perfect :)

But some changes I have in mind, is removing most of the ajax so the pages can be indexed, and make it not a pop-up window, so the user can decide what to do with the window.

perhaps the users should decide whether to open it in a new window or not...I like the new window because I can listen to music while surfing my forum.

I hope the vb4 version will be done until January / Feb. because I am planing to update my board.

Your addon really is outstanding. It took some time for my board members to grasp its meaning for the board usage but now they simply love it.

Do you have a timeplan or schedule for the first vb4 (beta) release yet?

My suggestions so far: Maybe you can design it in a widget style or tabbed box style. I would love to see the player being usable via forum home. A slim case style would be very sexy and could be placed directly under the navbar. (For streaming purpose you still need to open a new browser window or winamp/player that's clear.)

Yes, making it a widget with the player, the member would lose it when he changes the page. Maybe a widget for choosing stations? That would be nice, and could be done after making the main window stream player.

I'm gonna do a script that downloads all your info to XMLs, so you can upgrade to the new mod. It needs to be like that, because categories will be turned into tags, which you can choose any number of tags of a station. So you could have for example, tags "humor", "television" and "radio", and could chose two of those for a station.

Also, the features in the third post would be added as well. You can add new types of players, the embed codes, etc etc. It's some work to do, I'm thinking of starting to do this in Feb next year, as right now and in january I have lots of things to do on my personal websites projects, not to mention the holidays.

The only problem with that is that StarTrek Online is coming out on Feb 2010 :D

It's saying the function array_merge() tried to merge something that wasn't an array. After you do this, was the category added or not? Refresh the page and see if it was added, because after the error it seems the script continues and builds the correct AJAX response.

No one else seems to be having this problem, so it could be a problem with your php configuration. Or some other plugin that does the array merge on the radio script pages, and is missing some info to do so on said page.

Version for vb4 will let you add players, so you can add anything then.

Not refreshing the video is non doable, would need to rewrite the software to load everything in AJAX, which would be bad for SEO and everything else.

I am sure this has been brought up before somewhere. Could the random station played when the page loads be pulled from the users favorites list? If they don't have a favorite saved then pull a random station from the main list?

This is what I was looking for. Anyway for the 'random' station played when launched be pulled from the user's favorites list?

Also, is there a way to limit certain stations to certain usergroups? For example: Premium users get access to all stations, but regular members get access to one per category.

Btw, on the new version I plan to make an exporter which will export your whole info, then you have to uninstall the mod, reinstall and import all the info. You guys won't lose anything.

Also categories will be turned in tags, which can be used multiple ones for one station. For example, one station could have the tags "radio" and "rock" for instance.

Great Mod, Ive had it on my site running strong for 6 months.
Suddently today I get the following message below:

What could this mean. I am not technical at all! Obviously I
guess there is an error on the 613th line of the script?? But
what file should I be looking at to correct this issue?

Dream, just noticed that the ShoutCast mod that Zachariah put together has the same popup option, but has an option to run it on vBadvanced vbcms. Can we adopt the same instructions to somehow get it work for your great mod?

Find: "Shoutcast Status Full - Main"

Edit plugin & Change the "Hook Location" to "parse_templates"

Go to vBa options; "Admin CP > vBa CMPS > Default Settings > Main Options"

Now find: "Portal Output Global Variables"

Copy the following into the box exactly in the format below:

You must have made (can't remember details now) a template edit on navbar, to add the funcion openRadioAndTV() which has the link to the php file. Edit the navbar and change that.

I followed STEP 4 from the install instructions.....

Open your navbar template, and at the very top add

Now for the Radio and TV link, you can find:

And after that, add

But, when I changed that, it won't allow me to open my 'quick links' dropdown or my 'search' dropdown. Both links work on the rest of the pages, but not on vBadvanced. Any ideas on how I can get that to work properly?

Yes 3.8 all updated. I am running that free vbseo mod that is out, but this was working fine for a while even with that mod. i dont know what happened this was just suddenly... any ideas?

heya, not started yet unfortunately... been busy (including busy with Star Trek Online heh...) but I'll get to it, promise :o

I think most of us would just be grateful of a direct port (if it's easier) and then if you have time later to add the features you have in mind.

I think I'll be the user who misses it the most once my site goes to v4.02 as I'm always listening to radio stations! :(

Even with a port, the style HTML would have to be remade, using 4.x CSS and whatnot. The current version took 2 weeks more or less to be coded, I guess it would take a little less to recode the new version, but I plan to use some of the time to polish it so it has a good look and feel.

Aye... my users and myself loved that mod. One of the best mod ever! We have already moved to vB 4.0.2 and we are waiting for the release of that mod that works with vB 4.x. I hope we won't have to wait long Dream! ;)

I'm having an issue with the new version :(
I've reinstalled as per the instructions and reimported my stations. Everytime a radio station loads - the player tries to connect. It says "Opening media..." and doesn't play at all.

Help please!

I didn't try the bigger player popup until you mentioned it - It does work. However - there's an error at the top of the page:

Thanks for the awesome work Dream. The radioandtv.php file in post #363 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1992094&postcount=363) works fine --- The one in post #365 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1992099&postcount=365) loads a really really tiny player that you can barely see - but plays music just fine.

Again - Thanks for the awesome work - I've nominated again for MOTM - it would be nice to see you win :P

follow the upgrade instructions and you wouldnt lose your stations. if you wanna be on the safe side, export them to a xml before upgrading.

taifun, would be great if you could just post the xml with the translated phases, so they can work between multiple versions. you go to Languanges and Phrases, Export, choose Radio mod and export just the phrases. if you attach just that on the thread, ill link it on the official translations on the third post of this thread.

could be a problem with RP plugin for IE8. I would google about this issue, and try to use RP with IE8 on other sites to see if its a problem just with the mod.

Ran into this problem, when I try to access the link for Radio and TV a dialog box pops open and says that the "datempolounge.asx" can't be found. Running FF 3.6.3 OSX 10.6

Edit... ok I understand it's looking for an ms player... any work around for mac users?

Actually the station can have been taken offline, or moved to a different address by the sound of it, as the file can't be found.

When the World Cup is finished I plan to take a look at this project and update it for 4.x, though it's no quick job.

Thanks guys, I appreciate that, it may come late but it will come, just don't hold back your upgrade for this mod. Export your stations and save the XML so you can use it with the new version.

Also, instead of "Radio and TV Player", it will be named more like "Streaming Player", which is basically what this is.

I forgot to export mine but i still have it installed just disabled under v4, is there any point to me keeping it installed now? or shall I just uninstall and wait for the vb4 version?

One thing i really hope stays is that it opens up in it's only smaller window so people can listen to the radio and surf the site without having to reload the site in another window.

I plan to provide an upgrade script which will get the info from the database as well.

Also plan on making it on it's own tab, instead of a popup, so people can use ads on it without having to hack it.

Sorento, there are some problems with windows media player on firefox I believe, you need to Google for that info unfortunately.

If Jelsoft keeps it's promises and really add the features they are saying they will, I may stay with vBulletin, then I'll take a look at finally porting this to v4.

It's not an easy task, as this mod takes a long time to code, plus the time to learn the new vBulletin 4 way of doing things.

this is strange ... I tried first in firefox and there was nothing, an also no player. Then I've took IE - and there's a player which is playing the stations ... and the "wrong" URL - which i can't see in the source only in the URL-status in Firefox - doesn't matter ...

Seems to be a Firefox issue.

Any ideas?

For Pete's sake produce a lite and pro version, charge us [not every year but lifetime]with something simbolic as 10-20bucks for brandfree-pro version and you will have in few months atleast 100-200 of us who will pay that...and we will have what we need

Now that's just silly. You would re-rate this modification because the author of it who has provided it free-of-charge to the vBulletin community does not wish to spend a HUGE amount of time upgrading it to the vB 4 series??? That's just stupid.

Look. Dude has stated that the modification is NOT supported. Dream has been kind enough to allow for "Re-usable Code" -- So stop downing the product because it's not compatible with vB 4. Hire somebody to update the code for you. How about that for an idea! :rolleyes:

Nobody is forcing anyone to do something for free, I believe that Mr.Dream is not from some place where they force you for things like that...if he is my appologies...

Modification does not fit your needs? Don't use it. Simple as that. But how dare you presume to become insolent because the mod author has just stated that he has things going on in his real life that has prevented him from upgrading his mod to the vB 4.x series!

Speaking of which - have you bothered to make a donation to Dream for his wonderful work? Yes? Then good for you. Consider making a larger donation so that the he might have some incentive to upgrade the modification. No? You haven't donated? Then hush that fuss = money talks - BS walks ;)

Dream provided the functionality in the modification. You could do what most everybody else has done ==> Look for your own stations. The internet is vast - I'm sure you will find 1 or 2 stations if you use google :rolleyes:

Yeah but with all due respect say if there is a security issue with the mod (if memory serves me correctly there was on last year? correct me if i'm wrong) and you're no longer going to support it in any way then surely it should go into the graveyard?!

There was a security issue at one point. Dream had a fix for it within 24 hours if memory serves me correctly. I believe the mod was marked as "unsupported" then as well.

As of now though - there is no security issue. And just because the modification is not yet (and may not be made) compatible with vBulletin 4.x does not mean it should be moved to the graveyard.

That's just sillyness and perhaps a bit of frustration talking... :rolleyes:

Agreed, but any ways would rate it 1 if I could(Iam wicked)...dont like people who dont keep promisses, XF is competition isnt it Mr.Paul?...well I keep my side (for now) with VB thinking of it as "my" software and dont like... well look at this mod and where it will probably be from now on...and some brick lady is throwing...at me :D

The radio stations provided were the default plus 3 or so new stations only.

So again, anyone out there at all have a xml file for some TV stations please!

TV stations was an afterthought, that was added after many users asking for it, I personally didn't use it so I didn't have TV stations to share, apologies.
