I have used Google analytics 'goals' to track what goes wrong where in the registration and the results are shocking:

52% of all people that have their registration code sent to their email address, do not convert into active registrations. registrants who try multiple times are only recorded once.

As the objective of this modification is to deter false registrations, there are supposed to be a number of registrants who do not make it trough. But 52% is ridiculously high. Unfortunately only a relatively small number(15 per day) emails for support. There is clearly a bug somewhere, causing us to loose a lot of bonafide new members.

Hello

There is a HUGE bug on this mod. If vMail is used to confirm e-mail changes, this error will show up:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method class_vMail::Cleaning() in profile.php(182) : eval()'d code on line 18

The reason this error shows up is that the script calls to a function called Cleaning that DOES NOT EXIST.

To fix this, you will have to edit the plugin called "vMail - Functions" and add the following function:

function Cleaning($type,$code) {

$vbulletin->db->query_write("DELETE FROM ". TABLE_PREFIX . "nlp_vmail WHERE code = '".$code."'");

My users frequently get a page with this error when registering:

The registration is completed anyway, but the error message throws users off, as they think registration has failed.

How can I fix this?

Also: where can I edit the text 'You have not entered a code that we recognise.' and 'The email address you have entered is already in use' ? These need a better explanation to help members go trough registration.

I hope we'll see an update for vb4. This hack is a must have for me. I wish vbulletin would include something like this as default option. So users aren't created until they confirm email. This way we have to bother with "users awaiting confirmation" or disable email verification and end up with a bunch of spam.

I love this mod -- since we installed it (after I found the phrases that needed to be edited), we have cut our spam registrations down to zero and we were getting 2-3 a day that were getting through the other measures.

HOWEVER, I've had two yahoo.com users contact me in the past two days that they registration email isn't getting to their inbox OR their spam box (yahoo.com is deleting them as junk before they ever get to the user), is there an option for the admin to have access to the code so I can email it to the user? Or a place I can create my own code? My emails to the potential registrants get through, it is just the automated message that yahoo is filtering.

Please help, two people have contacted me, which means I've probably had 10 that gave up without contacting me!

This addon conflicts with EZBounced.

EZbounce deactivates forum accounts with bouncing email. When users want to reactivate their account EZbounce uses vbulletins built in system.
The vbulletin activation keys that EZbounced uses are not sent out, as vmail sends out its own activation code. THerefore the activation code users receive in their email, does not match the activation code in the database. Users can therefore not reactivate their account.

Please update vmail to vb4.1 and review the above conflict.

Why dont you disable verification in user registration setting and disable usergroup too . when using this mod why need another verification

Just keep up to date with the temp email domains. The best solution would be if there would be a central database of temp email domains. Anyway, let me know if you want mine. I have built a system into the registration process that lets supermods check all unknown email domains and add them to either the blacklist or whitelist. I get many thousands of registrations per month, so my blacklist should be up to date.

Edit : Sorted out my self.... you open the product v.2..0.1.3 in html editor ( search thru pages you will find this version which fixed some bugs by a member )...

find all instances of vbmail($email, $subject, $message);

Replace it with vbmail($email, $subject, $message, true)

Reimport and overwrite the product or install if u havent it installed...

I repeat again.... why second activation needed when u verify before a user register (even better than vb activation) .. i have 700+ users still waiting to activate since vb added this feature even i sent multiple times the activation link.. with this u can straight away add users to registered/default group.... i think for me only issue is bounce email n smtp email not working may be bcoz of this one.... to send activation code instantly use edits in previous page

Finally, I got some time to Test this product and to come back and show my appreciation to the Developer and the amazing Product he have made! I have had many asking me what I am using on my board, and I always tell them to help them out as well! Because I really know how it feels to have BOTS spamming out your forum and members that cant get access to your site..

Here is why:

My forum is was failing to send Activation Emails out, and till this day today its not sending activation emails to all the big EMAIL PROVIDERS! I was so disapointed and I had so many members messaging us on our Webmasters Email Account! It was horrible times..

I decided to look for something else! Something that would make our members to Register by using an Activation-Key and with less Spam-Bots.. Plust that I wanted our users to ALWAYS come back to our forums, without registering with 2 usernames!

And here comes vMail! vMail Prodcut has sent emails out TO ALL of our users till Today! If I should give it a count, then I say 99.9% out of 100% it has been precise. I am sure it never misses one EMAIL..Not only that, but we havnt had even 1 SPAMMER for almost 6 month now! Thanks to vMail and the developer!

I def recommend this, and I am appreciated that this was made to be PERFECT!

I upgraded to vB4 so vMail caused the user registration page to be misaligned

I contacted suport and they advised me to uninstall vMail is it is not compatible with vB4

So when I tried to uninstall it I got this message:

Remove Table : nlp_vmail

I searched in the templates for it and I found 4 entires but I don't know how to remove it

Why just no to disable email queue in vBulletin options?
This is what $vbulletin->options['usemailqueue'] checks.
If the check is false then you go to next else if ($vbulletin->options['use_smtp']) which doest the same one.
