How to get the forum title?

Hi all, new to the forum and VB so please forgive me if this is simple to answer.

I am putting a forum navigation bar in the header, so it will have the names of the parent categories listed then when you click them the sub menu with the subacategories will appear in a drop down list.

Now I know I need to manually input the forum I a linking to, eg:

http://www.mydomain.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3

However if possible I would like to dynamically grab the name of the forum I am linking to, so then if I change a forum name it will udpate in the menu too.

I think it is something to do with $foruminfo[title] but I dont know how to use it to grab a specific forum title. Obviously i would need the forum ID so I guess it would be something like:

$foruminfo[title].[ID]

Or something like that.

Please help I have been stuck with this for 2 days.

To fetch the name, you will need to either a) use the information from the datastore, or, b) query the database directly. The former method is better and will create less load on the server but both methods will require PHP coding.
