Hello everyone,

I started a thread about this subject (image protection) over at vBulletin.com and I was referred here, to vBulletin.org. Here is the thread from vBulletin.com

Any help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated :)

If someone was determined to get the image - they would, as the image is downloaded onto the computer as someone browses the page.

I understand how to get images if I wanted to...that was not my question. It's not a matter of being able to get it or not...I want to know how to protect it. Let me ask my question again.

Earlier, I uploaded a picture to my web server then post the picture within a post. Is there any way to keep members/ visitors from viewing the actual location of the image on the web server? I was looking at another forum and right-clicked a picture and it said

I want to know how to do that.

When you say that you want to prevent members seeing the actual location of the image i presume its to stop them copying it ???

If thats the case then your best bet would be to either use a watermark mod and install a copyright notice i.e (c) and the name of your site, or alternatively use a mod which i've seen on here which disables highlighting and right clicks, stoping members from copying your image.

use a mod which i've seen on here which disables highlighting and right clicks, stoping members from copying your image.
That simply stops them from right-clicking. It doesn't stop them from viewing the page source and grabbing the url from there. Or going to Tools > Page Info in your browser and grabbing it.

On the site where you saw "http://www.exampledomain.com/images/blank.png" when you right-clicked, what about the page source or Page Info? Didn't the real url show up there?

(Check out this javascript - it may be what was used for the blank image - http://javascript.internet.com/miscellaneous/change-two-images.html )
