Hey guys,

I was hoping to call upon the expertise present within these forums to help with a dilemma over internationalization.

I need to extend one of my forum sites to more countries than just the UK but don't really know where to begin.

All of the other countries (USA, AUS, NZ) are English speaking so languages are not an issue thank god.

The site has many forums that are country independent but it does have some sections of the forum hierarchy that are specific to different countries. The country specific categories (and subforums) are at the top of the forum ordering.

For instance, the very first category and sub-forums are for UK only. If someone has set their (custom) country profile field to anything other than UK I wish to ensure the appropriate category and sub-forums show at the top instead of the UK lot. This is ultra important.

I realise this will be a modification of some small/great magnitude but the problem I am facing is how best to achieve it and also where to start. I need also to bear in mind the nightmare's caused when it comes to upgrading the site.

Really, I suppose what I need is a partial re-ordering of forums depending on a profile field. The ability to add an extra set of forum orders for each country would be a bloody amazing feature if only I can get it to function.

Incidentally, the profile field only allows a limited selection: UK, AUS, NZ, USA, Other.

I'm sorry if I have not explained clearly enough but hopefully you have enough conceptually to understand what I mean.

Happy to explain in more detail anything I have not made clear enough.

Thank you for your help

PS. I am not bothered that new posts in UK will appear in new posts to those not in UK - I have a way to handle that already.
